I'm 15 min into this video and it amazes me how many parts that you don't paint before assembly. I prep/paint as many parts on the tree and touch up with paint marker if needed upon assembly. To each his own obviously...its a hobby for fun. I enjoy watching and appreciate you taking the time to document this for everyone. There's always some tips to pick up and even more knowledge in the kit it self and what's involved...details and assembly wise. This helps me decide if I wanna pursue the kit or not. So seeing the kit contents and parts detail is invaluable to me. And yes I have plenty of kits squared away for decades that...fingers crossed everything is OK. I did start opening some of the vintage kits upon purchase and wrapping the glass in napkins to avoid scratches. I haven't built a model in a good while, but I continue to buy them..because come retirement I plan on getting back into it more seriously. And they'll be cheaper now then later. Thanks for the great content!!!

2:27 😂 "We also have a set of 4 wheel pins. Do not lose those." As 1 falls out of the package unnoticed. It appears though that it avoided the bare floor portal to the underworld and the carpet monster. Whew. Crisis averted.

Always hit up "Scale Finishes" for stock colors, always follow their directions! An AMT '57 issue circa 99-2000 has that salmon color on the box.

I enjoy your reviews, you provide an excellent resource to see what a kit is like before laying down $30.00 plus of your hard earned money. I love your attitude of doing it YOUR way. Its a hobby for most of us, do it for fun. The only way to do modeling wrong is to not have fun. this isnt a criticizim, but i dont understand why you always stress how easy or difficult it is to put the tires over the assembled wheels. You can always assemble the wheel halves around the tires.

I’m definitely picking up one of these. I last built this kit as the One-Fifty/Black Widow version. Best detailed ‘57 Chevy kits ever. I appreciate the separate rear seat, wipers, exhaust, suspension, etc. Allows me to build an accurate oval track racer or drag car. (I only wish the Bel Air trim on the quarter panels were separate so that one could build a Two-Ten model; but I’m just nitpicking.)

Guilty as charged on the 30+ year old models sitting in the stash, but I look at them as fine wine LOL; anyway good advice on the tires, I do this from day one, same for the chrome and clear parts which in the past weren't bagged. A couple of years ago I had to sell a lot of my kits to pay the bills and I'm sure the new owners, builders and collectors appreciated my protective measures. Anyway, great build as always and looking forward towards the next one Chris! Cheers Luc.

The pictures on the box sides were of a hardtop. The pic on the front of the instructions was another shot of a post but, in instructions it was a hardtop. I though it was going to be nice building a post!

I really love these two in one kits and the resto mod set up looks really good in terms of the wheels and suspension. That's definitely the look I would go for or I would get two to do the standard and upgraded versions. However, I would love to see an engine from a more modern Corvette as the alternative engine in one of these resto mod kits.

With me, growing up in the 80’s and my location I mostly built Revell, Monogram back when they were separate identities, and MPC and Poller Light, plus the occasional Airfix because they were the only ones available. It wasn’t until the 2000’s I started building Bandai kits others Japanese brands, the only group that didn’t interest me was the Gundam kits yes I watched the cartoons, but they’re what you call a shake n make kit.

It looks like they gave this model a mixture of Bel Air and 210/150 trim. Most of the trim appears to be Bel Air trim, but the short chrome pieces on the tops of the fins is from the 210 and 150 series cars. The Bel Air trim pieces go from the tips of the fins almost to the base of the C-pillars along the tops of the fins.

Awesome color! Great job, as always. I have yet another question if you don't mind. I am getting away from building miniatures and into building scale model cars. I have a load of paints by Pro Acryl, Vallejo and Citadel just to name a few. These paints are all matte colors. Using an airbrush, if I painted a car body with these paints and then sprayed (when dry, of course) a gloss clear coat over them would I get a nice glossy model? Or would it be semi gloss?

@dmgscalemodels282510 ай бұрын
Do you use flat black primer and a gloss coat over that for depth of color or is it because gloss black Rustoleum and Krylon take forever to dry? Tamiya sprays are pretty good, eh?

I gave you a thumbs up for the build. If I could I'd give Revell a thumbs down!! First off that's NOT a Bel-Air!! All Bel-Airs were hard top cars ( NO B Pillor )!!! This body style is a 210! I really don't get all the stock options. The '57 family car didn't have disk brakes from the factory much less on all 4 corners. Sad really!!! I'll likely pick up one or two when they hit the discount stores. The 210 did and still does make a fantastic drag car. When I do get a couple ( at discount prices ). I'll use the body and build gasseres out of both. My chassis my big block engine, and my interior. The rest of the kit will hit a sale group to recup cost. It would have been easy to make a great kit out of this body. 😌
@hpiguy10 ай бұрын
My man, the disc brakes are the lowered restomod option parts. You can build it stock height with the stock parts shown. I'm no expert and don't pretend to be but it took only a half a second to find one for sale with a B pillar. autohunter.com/Listing/Details/14909060/1957-Chevrolet-Bel-Air And another one: barnfinds.com/desert-driver-1957-chevrolet-bel-air/#:~:text=The%20B%20pillar%20or%20%E2%80%9Cpost,wrong%20with%20a%20'57%20Chevy.
