I just completed a Undercover/Bad Guy Hunter Inspired 77-78 Dodge Monaco for my channel. I have to say I kept going back to your video for reference and it got me back into watching Hunter. I did use the AMT 71 Charger for the underside of mine and the 440. Keep doing what you do. Your videos are great reference material for my builds...the silver pencil technique works great for my dashes and has gotten a lot of compliments...which I give you credit for. Sorry about the long comment, but I wanted to let you know. Take care man! -Cliff

I bought this kit based on your review. Thx for an excellent review and build, you've got a great methodology in how you present the kit(s). Your balanced approach to building yields terrific results, & it's absolutely awesome that you actually include a full build! Great choices in kits too btw 👌🤠 - your figure kit reviews are cool too.

Great seeing the Hunter car, I did one in brown about 15 years back done as a stunt car with full rollcage and an air cannon in the back seat for the roll overs. You'll have to pick up the MPC Daytona to do Dee Dee's car next!

Great job! The Hunter cars were a little darker green and repainted often. I think the kit tires are a bit fat, i swapped mine for Monogram Goodyears. Also the TV cars didn't have the styled mirrors. They had about a half dozen Dodges at any time, All former LAPD and CHP cars. I interviewed Fred Dryer once, great guy, very quiet and dignified. Also VERY TALL! Move the drivers seat back a coupla feet...

For the kit bashers, the engine from this kit fits the AMT Dodge Little Red Express kit pretty well. The body fits the 1/24 Monogram 81/82 NASCAR Thunderbird chassis with some minor fender triming.

Nice work as always ! So glad that this kit is out again ! A couple of items re: California cars : They certainly *do* rust ! My 1972 Coronet spent a lot of time at the beach (prior owner worked at Los Angeles Int'l Airport) , so all of the salty air and sand rusted the car from the top-down . Never-the-less... Good call on the ambre turn signals ! That was a 1977-only deal ; 1978's reverted to red-coloured turn signals ( I despise red turn signals ! ) . On that interior : would've liked to have seen black rubber mats instead of 'carpet' ; all police / taxi models had black rubber mats .

@ronaldhuff6355 жыл бұрын
i believe it was monogram which put out the 69 roadrunner kit, that kit had the actual "cop car" slotted wheels, chris did a fairly spot on job with this car, having been a mopar owner for years the only discrepancies are with the kit itself, there are a few things the cars i've owned have had different, but hey, it's a model, as chris has said on other builds, build it for you
@Mariazellerbahn5 жыл бұрын
I bought that kit (Joker Car / Gotham City Police) about 20 odd years ago. Back then it was moulded in black plastic. Not a bad kit for its age.

Great build! We like Hunter too (and while I've not owned any of Hunter's junkers, LOL, I have owned 3 Daytona Z cars, an '84 like Dee Dee's--you can tell it's '84 by the 4 lug wheels, '85 and newer ones had 5 lugs--an '86 CS Shelby, and an '89 Shelby Z with that "VNT Turbo"). You can now watch Hunter (I'm pretty sure it's all of the seasons/episodes) on Hulu 😁✌

Another great one Chris and 10/10 for making it as Hunter's car! Although making Roscoe's cruiser would be cool too. Really liking the body color and the old man tan interior lol! So understated and a perfect undercover car. I always thought the Monaco would make a great big block sleeper to create havoc with unsuspecting racers. Thanks for sharing this and as Hunter would say, "works for me"!

Great job on a not so great kit. That a late 70's Monaco is still hanging around is pretty darn cool. I used the goon car to creat a Louisiana state police car. Hi-po mopar big blocks were orange, lo-po were Chrysler blue. Stellar job on the kit, especially the paint

Okay Chris, this is now my favorite episode/build. But, I have always been a sucker for cop cars. Love em all. Love all the details, from the paint to the 101 extra parts, it's all cool. Gr8 job on that paint, really authentic. Good job on everything. Remember the old Yodel kits, the old curbside models, I believe they also made a Monaco if I'm not mistaken. But, I especially like the little, red outside light, very cool. God Bless you n have a safe weekend. Tom

Another kit ive started to buy this and the reissue Hazzard County patrol car since I like the 77 dodge monaco, the Plymouth fury, and the dodge coronet based car and also the 77 dodge charger non se trim car but a 2dr, seen on the emergency tv show and in a few episodes of the Fall Guy tv show, but I couldn't bring myself to spend the almost $54 for either kit so I never bought it instead i bought the monogram second gen dodge 440+6 coronet or super bee, and the ertyl version of the 69 dodge charger Daytona molded in white so it was like the 2001 reissue, and the aforementioned a few videos ago iroc Camaro z28 85 molded in red and chrome z28/RS specific 5spoke star wheels the iroc ironically and the 91-92 RS used a very similar wheel its wider flat spoke wheel no deep inset spokes and the iroc and the last of the third Gen RS cars have 16 inch aluminum wheels..

Thanks Alfie! I hear you my man, I really do. The thing is those big ships take a LOONNGGGG time to build and at the moment I'm kept busy with new release reviews. That’s a good idea to do it as Hunters car! I had forgotten all about that show, and I used to watch it religiously, great show! Great build Chris! I think though by 78’ Chrysler had already gone to the 400 ci engine, which was a badass engine in its own right, not only that but it being a police car it probably had the interceptor package too! Doesn’t matter though, I just thought I’d throw that in there! Great job again though Chris!! Doug
@hpiguy6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, wanted to do something different than a regular squad, something unique. I had to look that up too, and google showed me Car and Driver did a test of a police package 440 78 Monaco once. So that's cool. It was only available for police dept orders it said and they were impressed that it had a 150mph speedo in the dash. Thanks!
@hensleyshobbies-doug77616 жыл бұрын
hpiguys Workshop - oh ok I guess they did still had the 440 in certain cars! I figured it had the 400 in it because a friend of mine’s Mom had a 77-78? Dodge Magnum , she bought brand new off the lot, around that same time but anyway it had the 400 in it and like I said that engine was pretty badass too! Anyhow, appreciate it buddy!

Hunter is past my time, wasn't watching much TV in the '80's. A few episodes on You Tube. Looks like an '80's show for sure. There's a fine line between making junky cars on purpose and naturally as a matter of routine. They don't make enough 4-door sedans and wagons. The bottom spatter paint is excellent for trunk paint.

Yes, an Al Bundy car would be cool!!!! I had to google it to see what he drove, all the sources say it's a 72 Plymouth Duster with a vinyl roof that he keeps calling a Dodge. AND I see that AMT is re-popping the 71 Duster very very soon.... and the only real difference is slightly bigger tail lights which no one would care about unless they are a rivet counter. www.autoworldstore.com/product_p/amt1118m.htm

We'd want to do as a car the Mount Prospect City Police Department bought after auctioning off their '74 Monaco cruisers... Speaking of... anyone do a '74 Monaco sedan? And a S.C.M.O.D.S. terminal?

I always wondered why no one ever made a Blues Brothers kit with decals, etc. People would buy it for the box alone.

-Cliff
