This was the first Tamiya 1/35 kit I bought in 1987, I still have the painted figures in one of my boxes somewhere. Great review and brought back happy memories for me. 👍😃

Many thanks for showing your build of this kit, as I just ordered the same one and it will be my first attempt at building and painting something like this. A HUGE help. Thanks!

I had the exact model kit when i was 11 which was back in '83. I used to stare at the Hobby Co catalog for hours day dreaming .

First saw your video yesterday night and today i stumbled across this set at my local hobby shop and snapped it up. I love how Tamiya prices their old kits really cheap.

Good video, brother ! You reminded me that I was going to use some of those figures in a diorama of a picture my dad had. He said it was of the heavy weapons company of the 90th Infantry Division. One jeep with an MG, one 30cal on a tripod and a small mortar. Thanks, brother for reminding me about that.

Right, the figures always add a much needed presence to any dio. Thanks Ennis!

Hey WW2 very cool!! And as always they look amazing. The war painter paints look interesting I'm going to check them out

Thanks Brian! You can snag the shade washes for about $20 for a set of 8, and the large 50 paint set will run $82-$100 shipped. Gamenerdz had the best prices of anyone I found for these paints.

Boy, talk about an OLD kit. Got a few of these in my stash that I must of bought 20+ years ago. Getting back into modeling, but going for zombie/apocalypse type dioramas. Sanding off all the military webbing, etc. off the figures, then converting them to look like civilians. And can still use the rifles, canteens, etc. in the dioramas.

Looks great! I never heard of Army Painter Warpaints. Then again I do not have that many hobby shops around me either!
@hpiguy7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Army Painter paints come from the gaming area of the hobby, and work well for us scale modelers. Check any local gaming shop or you can get them online from places like Gamenerdz.

I'm doing this at the moment, but there seem to be several variations of olive drab...which one did you use? thanks
@hpiguy3 жыл бұрын
Grab any that you like. There was no consistent color, try not to get mired in perfection or perfect shades, it sucks all the fun out of it.

LOL I still remember this was my 1st tamiya kit. I bought it when I was in jr high and it 1st came out.
@hpiguy7 жыл бұрын
And still good 40 years later!
@ualuuanie7 жыл бұрын
Yup :) Unlike other brands that have faded details or lots of flashes this kit still looks like new with sharp details.

Can you make a video of how to build and paint a set of german soldiers? Im a little confused about the color of their uniform some are green anf other are gray what is the original color?
@hpiguy6 жыл бұрын
They used the same colors as everyone else. Grey, green and tan, depending on where they were fighting. Check out my Pak36 cannon review, I build and paint numerous German desert soldier figures in that review.

How did you bend the ammo belt...I tried bending mine and it snapped?
@hpiguy3 жыл бұрын
You can bend plastic by warming it.

May I ask where you purchased this model kit from? I'm new to modeling and I'm really confused about scale sizes. I bought a Tamiya kit from a local hobby shop that said that the figures were 1/35 scale and the figures, when completed, only stand about two inches tall. The figures you are working with look much larger. Can you help me out with this? I find it very hard to paint the small figures, particularly, the accessories, like guns, bayonets, canteens, etc.
@hpiguy2 жыл бұрын
You can get the kit anywhere online using the model # in the title. All 1/35 from Tamiya and any of the major model companies will be the same size. It's possible they just appear bigger on camera.
@CurtRowlett2 жыл бұрын
@@hpiguy Thank you for the reply. May I ask what would be the scale number for a larger size of figure? And do they even make larger sizes? Again, I just find it very hard to work with assembling parts as small as the 1/35 scale. Ditto for trying to paint them. I think that I'd enjoy it more working with a larger scale.
@hpiguy2 жыл бұрын
There are lots of random figures in 1/32, 1/24, 1/16, 1/12. A search of Ebay in those scales will turn up model figures that are larger in size but not nearly as many as in 1/35. 1/35 is the most popular scale for military ground vehicles and so that is the scale you'll find most figures in.
@CurtRowlett2 жыл бұрын
@@hpiguy Yes, I'm primarily interested in military figures from the WW2 era. I guess that I will just have to learn how to deal with painting using a magnifying glass, which I have already. Many thanks for your advice and I appreciate you sharing your "how to" knowledge on KZbin.

I subscribed when i saw this build, very impressive. I was inspired to build one of these Tamiya kits and picked up the 35192 at my local hobby shop. However, I found much of the text to be in Japanese. Do you know of anyway to get a translation in English? I wonder what I'm missing.
@hpiguy2 жыл бұрын
No, sorry. The pictures are all I need to build them up and they use number codes for the paints if you wish to paint them the same as the box.
@perrytheplumberplatypus89765 жыл бұрын
Id personally would build them all at once and have a space for the unused ones
