HPR - CBR1000F Trackday

Hey, it's murica' day. So I figured I'd upload a video of this guy riding a 22 year old Japanese import at an American track. This was my first time ever at a track and my god was it a lot of fun. These are by no means are my fastest laps either, (the go-pro wasn't on for those :( ) but anyway enjoy! If you are considering doing a trackday, DO IT.
I get my knee down around 7:30.

I had the exact same bike. What beast of a motor, almost impossible to hurt. What was nice about the bike was that is a more of a roadster and not a narrow focused track bike. You could drive this 200 miles back home from the track and still feel comfortable. It was a bit heavy, but very very stable at speed.

It's my daily commuter still! Feels like I'm riding on a couch. Perfect road bike, just wish the all the parts weren't 25 years old now! haha. Maybe you can find another one? I still see a few pop up for sale once in awhile.

I rode my CBR1000f to Scotland to visit my brother 600 miles in ten hours then went to a disco in the evening.....a serious mile munching couch... P.s I still have it in my garage 30 years later and its immaculate typical honda quality

This bike is the best of all worlds. I had a 1996 for 5 years, but if I ever buy another bike it will be this one again. Best multi purpose bike ever.

It was! I'll miss it dearly. Sadly it was at that point of eating oil every two weeks, for the amount of riding I was doing.

Best touring bike I ever had but it did eat chain and sprocket with an appetite when one up and having some fun.Also the most forgiving bike I have ever owned.I came of a 250 straight onto one of these and she looked after me.Great content🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👍

It's worth the money, one thing I did to make it track ready is take off the rear stand. (It can scrape and mess you up in heavy lean.) I also ran factory tire pressure all day without problems. Good luck ; )

Everyday that passes more and more old sportbikes disappear. I'm glad you found yours! The 87's have that unique rear tire size, and thankfully your Carb synch should be on top of the carbs instead of underneath like the post 90's models. Also make sure your carburetor doesn't have vacuum leaks! The old plastic in these tend to crack over the years.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing! I'm interested in your handle bars. They are different from mine. They rise up a bit more than the ones on my 1993 CBR1000. Are they stock? If not, where did you get them? I am contemplating rising my grips a little bit to keep from leaning forward so much. Thanks!

+Peter M Nice spot! They are actually an aftermarket brand called HeliBars, previous owner had them installed. They really make the bike a lot more comfortable for touring and such. You might have to do some digging for some CBR1000F specific bar risers, but I'm sure a pair are out there. Also if you search for Helibars I believe they have a web sight and Revzilla also sells them.

Hey, I did clutchless upshifts with the bike, downshift always required clutch.

@@Саня-ч6д6у As long as you load (put pressure on the gear shift and accelerate) - so standard shift I push the gear shift up, (but not all the way to next gear) then when I close throttle - the pressure on shift lever + closing off the throttle will slip the gear up into next gear. It does not as long as you do it right. All bikes that have throttle cable with " quick shifter" - cut ignition and make it so your motorcycle can slip up into next gear. In reality you can do it by hand like I did in video. I road this bike for a very long time and never had any issues with the gearbox.

I need to ask... I have a 1994 model also... CBR1000FR, SC31... I have had it for two years, and was of the belief that it only had 5 gears... I am reading up on this and all sources tell me it should have 6 gears... How many gears to you have mate?

6 gears for me! The only time you really get to use 6th is to its potential is post 130+ mph.

Nah mate, on the open road doing long distance cruising/touring... drops the rev rate right down and saves loads of fuel.

So smooth, you only feel the weight once you get below 15 mph, so 1st gear corners - gotta push the bike, but above that it's a dream. Every 90s Honda has a little magic.

This was my first track day ever, I actually planned on making a sequel video with the improved riding on my second time out, but unfortunately my go pro fell off. It's crazy how quickly you make progress on your body positing, lean angle, throttle control on the track. And then your old sport bike remembers its age and rattles itself apart haha.

@@makethman007 The plan now is to keep the old girl for the road and try an get a track bike I can crash! Parts for 90's bikes just get rarer and rarer every day :(. Anyway thank you! Hopefully I'll get to do another track video someday.

@@DylonND you may want to see the YT gymkhana vid they do in japan with 500s its amazing and really teaches handling im going to get a candy red blackbird in about a month.... for the parts indeed they are not easy to find but ebay is useful and so far ive not run short on my f-l if you want to keep her running the best is to provision a moderate stock of more frequently used things , i have a multi compartment plastic box with lots of little seals and other bits that cost a ton at the dealer and less on the bay cheers hd

@@makethman007 Oh man, I'd love to ride a blackbird, I can't imagine the top end on that. Make sure you put new tires on that thing! I've love the my Dunlop Roadsmarts 2's, not as good in the rain compared to the Michilin Pilot Road's but much better front end feel. I've slowly been building a collection of things here and there, and your right about that. It's the twenty year old plastic inside of the bike that goes bad. Had some horrible vacuum leaks with the carb that I got sorted out recently. And I love those gymkhana videos! The hayabusa one blows my mind. Cheers!
