HQ Delta Hawk

We just got this sturdy, fun kite that will fly when the the wind is too strong for others.

I always wanted one of these for a long time. I heard its rated into like the 40mph zone.

The design team at HQ came up with a terrible design when they came up with the notion of using a “curved” standoff attachment for the lower spreader. They have used this design feature on other stunt kites and the basic problem is that the “curved” standoff/whisker is under so much tension that the slightest bump upon landing will typically result in the standoff/whisker being catapulted into near earth orbit…once catapulted this standoff/whisker is almost impossible to find in any type of grassy groundcover. In addition, due to “supply chain” issues HQ often cannot supply you with replacements and instead send a fiberglass rod substitute which cannot handle the inherent tension needed and as a consequence will typically splinter after just a few flights All in All…a truly bad design feature…I would have thought that the HQ engineering team (based in Germany) would have discovered this inherent flaw of design but apparently the notion of actually field testing new design features has gone by the wayside. Do Not Buy…you will be disappointed….

Thank you for this feedback Robert! We have been producing the Delta Hawk almost unchanged for over 25 years. However, there are still small improvements in detail. So the newer models have a pocket for the standoff with security, so that the standoff can actually no longer be lost. This can also be seen in the opening image in the video. Regarding the supply of spare parts, I can only note that we usually send them within 24 hours. It may be that there are delays if the order for a spare part is received on Friday afternoon or at the weekend. We certainly cannot be held responsible for delays in delivery. Our material specifications for the standoff say wrapped fiberglass with a diameter of 2.1 mm. Please let us know if this is not the case for your Delta Hawk.
