Thanks a lot to all.

I will begin with saying that I never heard this before. So Im not at all an expert on Beethovens string quartets or quintets. Op 4 signals that this is an early work. It sounds a little bit like Haydn. And I like it, as one can like somthing where all the bits fits completely together. The dissonances and complications will come later, here it is all about complete harmony. Not without deep understanding and genious about how this music shall be developed. It is nice to hear from what point Beethovens later music developes. So thanks, all musicans!

In fact this quintett is the adaptation of the in Bonn composed octet for windinstruments which Beethoven only later incorporated in his "authorised" catalogue as number 103. He considered his works for windinstruments not that important and only occasional works. He considered the musical content of the "Parthia" (the original name of the octet) substantially important enough to make an adaptation which could suit the demand for chambermusic on the Viennese domestic musicmarket

This is an arrangement and re-composition/expansion of Beethoven's wind octet, little known but very agreeable. The performers are very fine, but the director's focus on the first violinist is excessive.
