Most people don't appreciate how very difficult it is just to play this piece. But to play it with perfection and without music is a truly remarkable fete. How sad that musicians don't get the same glory and admiration that sports figures do in our culture. Bravo young man!
@davidjared34022 жыл бұрын
Totally agree; glory is way out of proportion between sports and the arts, esp. in the U.S.

For many years, the litmus test for this piece was the Robert Marcellus, Chicago Symph. version. This guy does a wonderful job though, I must say!

Only God Knows what this genius could have written for woodwinds if he had lived just a few more years.... This adagio is far beyond sublime.

Never satisfied, are you? Don't you think Mozart wrote enough for one man's lifetime? Art is not a competitive sport: there is no requirement to equal or outdo Bach and Handel.

To Believe that Mozart. or anyone, could compose such a beautiful concerto while he was very ill in the last months of his life is a testament to his musical genius!
@giancitton26044 жыл бұрын
@ClarinetEnthusiast Жыл бұрын
23:36 there is just something magical with the orchestral tuttis in this concerto as well. Mozart really did put a special, almost irrational love into his clarinet works and this is no exception.

To this most wonderful musician I’d say “Ach du lieber, mein schatz”!!! I’ve never followed Mozart’s music much, sorry to say, but hearing this fabulous concerto AND amazing soloist, I must pay more attention to Mozart, especially other concertos he’s written!! This clarinetist exemplifies the “play & sway” style, one that I greatly enjoy! You can see he’s in love with this concerto & his instrument! Wish I knew what brand of clarinet he plays. When I played first clarinet in my high school band (1958; I was 18 then), I really wanted to be able for my folks to afford me a Selmer or other quality clarinet. I still have my old LeBlanc! My favorite Reed was a #2 1/2 I believe! I might “squeak” if I had a #3! The gorgeous “elliptical sound”, not “circular”, of the clarinet is indispensable to an orchestra!! Now try to figure that reasoning out! The elliptical shape has more “character” than the circle!! This man has thoroughly mastered his instrument!!! AND he’s a great looking fella too! Bet he’s a German! This fine fine video has been a great treat for me, at age 82! “Gesundheit” und pass da veinerschnitzle und sauerbraten poleaze!!! NO LUTEFISK!

Thank you for your wonderful words and your appreciation! For your information: the brand of my clarinet is Herbert Wurlitzer 100cs and i am playing "austrian material", mouthpiece by J. Gleichweit, reeds by Peter Leuthner. And by the way i am austrian.. 😉
Ulrich, Clara, and Alondra--three of my favorites together; bravi!

@Comentario Absurdo Persona Sin Criterio 1) No soy mexicano.
