Thank you, Karl! So useful to know the progress while we are suffered from the road blockage. I appreciate so much!

I know, I'm still sceptical but they have to get it done somehow.

Thanks Karl, it was interesting to know how old that road is, perhaps they might find some old artifacts when they dig it up. You said how peaceful it was with the road closed, I noticed that this morning when I was cycling along the 418 between near Dinton and the Haddenham roundabout.

I've since learned that the geology around there produces quite a lot of fossils. That is why there are those huge ammonites in the wall along by Hartwell House. They may have found fossils already as they've dug quite deep when doing the new bridge.

They've been very lucky that the weather's not doing much this week. If they don't get it finished by Monday morning they'll have to reopen the old road and then close it again for a night to join up the two ends, I imagine.

Thanks again Karl. I know hindsight is a wonderful think but I cannot help thinking that in all the months and years that have past it would have been sensible to create a temporary but sturdy cycle way / footpath on the Hartwell wall side of the road. Then they could have progressed the new road and cycle track without the constant moving around of barriers etc with personnel having to be used to ensure safety. If necessary during many of their previous closures they could have shifted the A418 over to the right a bit ( Bugle Horn to the roundabout ) which would only have meant a bit of road resurfacing which they did anyway. A barrier on the road side of my suggested path could have kept you cyclists safe and the path would have been virtually straight. Too late now though.

I would have thought that the main part of the link road would have been finished before the tying in started.

Thanks Karl. Well they've committed now by digging out the old road at either end haven't they! Amazing still that some of the new road alignment still appears to be little more than kerb stones + dirt. Going to be a rush at the end. Are you planning to go back again later in the week by any chance?

Is the cycle track going to be open all the time whilst work is going on ? On another subject Is there some sort of restriction on flying drones over the HS2 site in Wendover?😊
@KarlVaughan2 күн бұрын
I believe the cycleway will be open. It looks like they will just move the barriers around when certain parts are finished because the current concrete track goes over the new road. As for the Wendover section, that is quite tricky as it is within the Halton no fly zone. Further along near to Great Missenden that is not as issue but there is a permanent NOTAM in place meaning that HS2 are regularly flying their own drones along the route where vehicles are using GPS in tandem with those drones, so I've been told. That's why I'm reluctant to resume my flying there. That hasn't stopped other drone pilots flying over there though as I've seen their videos on here. Good luck to them!

A bit more on the track bed please but otherwise a great video of the roadworks, at the perfect height.
@KarlVaughan2 күн бұрын
This was only about Oxford Road and also there isn't much to show regarding the trackbed there. After the road has opened I will do a proper update on the area. I need to do Fleet Marston first though as I've not been there for a while. It's all starting to happen.
