Their ABs are great for anything that doesn't require absolute trigger precision, solid miniatures choice especially with the 0.4mm setup, built like tanks, with easy to change nozzles etc. I wouldn't dare do fine art or anything requiring accuracy though, just a heads up if you want to do that, you will rip your hair out :D (I'm talking fine art here, consistent dagger strokes, dots etc on something like a cellphone case not minis unless you're doing a pupil)

I updated my original comment, but for those that missed, I had an initial, not great experience, using this airbrush. After rewatching and following Warrick’s instructions, this worked flawlessly! I now love this airbrush! Things I changed - I switched from Stynylrez primer to Vallejo and followed Warrick’s 1:1 thinning ratio. Everything ran smoothly! Thanks, Warrick and H&S!!

Thank you for this video, I’ve just bought this airbrush on recommendation as I’m a complete newbie and so I had so many questions like changing colours during painting, cleaning during then importantly when finished and thanks to this one video it’s answered all my questions. The only thing I would have liked to have seen is maybe a larger item be painted maybe a vehicle just so we could see how to cover larger areas. This would have really helped me as I’m going to be using it to cover my carving 1st one being a fish. But like I said a brilliant beginner video. All the best from Scotland

Thanks for noticing that! We like to keep the videos as edit-free as possible, because the message from H&S is fundamentally this: if we can do it, then so can you. So we want to make sure that we show it in a way that takes any and all mystery out of it, and above all makes sure that you all find it credible! If not, then it's just discouraging I think! It will mean in the future as we start to paint in a little more detail that the topics of the videos will become a little more specialised, as otherwise the videos will get far too long! So we'll just split the processes up :-) If it works for you, it works for us.

Okay, bought one. Gave it a real tough test. White Craft Gloss Acrylic paint, thinned down and thinner and with slo dri retarder and flow improver added. Sprayed fine, but tip dry feature on nozzle cap paint really hard to clean. Didn't push hard enough on cup, and it fell out with paint in it. Hope pressing harder will not damage a secure fit....LOVE the beautiful case as Badger used to have one also.
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 6 ай бұрын
Hey Dwight... Firstly, with the cup, press and rotate a touch and it will lock extremely well. Same for removal - rotate a touch. The nozzle cap is made to be cleaned by using a stiff bristle synthetic brush in a large size - more than a #8 for example. Then you'll find it super easy. W

I believe this is the only brush that does it this way, others have a stopper on the back, but they aren't consistent enough to actually be useful (they don't stop the needle at the same spot Everytime (on mine at least) and even if it did. The nozzle and needle aren't precise enough to actually spray paint at the same rate with the needle being in the exact same spot). I got tired of this so I actually bought the ultra 2024 and I hope it solves everything

I bought the Ultra based on this video, and it works very well. I had never used an airbrush before and have been using the Ultra for the past few weeks. The settings wheel is very useful. Just today I primed my first miniature without using the prime setting (by accident). So teaching trigger control works perfectly as well. 10/10 👍 On the off chance you're ever making an Ultra 2025, my only suggestion would be a new way to insert the paint cup (using a "screw"?). If the cup is not fully inserted (by pressing it down), paint will leak out when using the airbrush and create a mess. This is a very minor point though 🙂

I purchased the infinity brush a couple of years ago. The paint dried so quickly on my maiden-paint, there was panic to clear it out before it dried. Spent a little time painting compared to the cleaning phase. Got it out this week and was surprised that paint had dried inside the brush - got some isopropyl and acetone to help remove the dried paint. Probably should have bought a mid-range brush to learn on, but the art shop had the Infinity on special and it was so beautiful and shiny. This tutorial is what I needed. I will get some airbrush cleaner before I have another go. Can you advise what paint volume setting (and distance ) on the Infinity I should use when zenithol painting? I have subscribed as this information is gold.
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 9 ай бұрын
Hey Richard! generally, a good distance for Zenithals is one hand's width away... setting on the Infinity does depend on which nozzle you have in there.. but if you're on the 0.4mm, then start out with 3/4 turns out from fully in on the QuickFix. If you're on the 0.2mm, then try 1 turn there...

I've been using cheap airbrushes for years with a very spongy trigger action; over the past 24 hours, i've had to relearn how to use an airbrush; the trigger feels so much better. I've also compared airflow coming out of my chinese no-name airbruhes and, this one by far releases significantly more air at 25psi than my other 3. Hey buddy - thanks very much. We are really happy with how this airbrush turned out. It's been a lot of work, and quite a lot of risk in terms of development avenues which have never been taken before, but we're super happy with the results. The outcome we're hoping for is that everyone who picks one up has their first hour of airbrushing as a positive experience with a completed piece to be happy with at the end of it. And our beta testing has borne this out.

😀 Looks like you really had some fun with this one! Like a lot of comments below, I could have really done with one of these when I started out! Still, my old Infinity helped me figure it out eventually... still going strong, too, eleven years in. Aa an aside, anyone having any doubts about H&S quality, don't, I think the brush will outlast me! A few nozzles wore out after years of use, easily replaced. I was able to add a whole bunch of different needles to the brush, a few minor adjustments are all it takes to transform it from a detail demon to a tool for covering even the largest models. It really is a beautiful bit of kit, I can't recommend it enough.

You can't do it with the ULTRA aircap by pinching. We have made this aircap more protective, because of its beginner role.You can do it by blocking it with a cloth, though. @harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 9 ай бұрын
Hi Dave... mostly, yes... but the EVOLUTION is a progression on from the ULTRA... there the trigger cam control profile on the Excenter of the Evolution is more biased towards providing the instant feel that you need for more detailed applications, where the ULTRA is more aimed at an easy opening which is simple to learn for a beginner. Also, the front end of the Evolution offers more needle tip visibility, which is more optimal for detail.

Excellent video. Very well thought out, good explanation, and good demonstration. A really, really good idea to explain for the beginner how to use the airbrush, but also to design the airbrush deliberately to help beginners like me! Seriously appreciate that, superb work imho. However, one thing that I really struggled with as a beginner was the paint continually clogging. After much frustration, cleaning, taking apart and beginning again did I finally understand what was going wrong. The air inlet where the air source comes into the airbrush and begins to mix with the paint was continually clogging (causing bubbles and then the airbrush to fail to work each time). The position is at the top of the body of the airbrush, once you have removed the airhead, nozzle, and needle cap. In my first five or six uses of the airbrush - an H&S Evolution - it was that air inlet that would continually see the paint dry and then clog. It was only once I had a real understanding of the engineering of the airbrush that I began to realise my mistake and I wasn't keeping the air inlet totally free of dried paint that I finally was able to use the airbrush, definitively, well. A beginners mistake which made me feel very frustrated, and just in case that will help anyone else and/or something you could cover in future videos. Seriously impressive work by H&S and a really worthwhile video. Thank you and sorry for typing out such a long comment!!!!
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 7 ай бұрын
Hey Dr Christopher! Thanks very much for taking the time to write that. It does sound very much to me like your head was loose - if you're taking about the air inlet to the base of the removable aircap, then this should absolutely never see any paint at all. The only way that happens is with a very loose head (good finger tight is all that is necessary) and once that is tightened up, then it will also ensure that you will get zero bubbles in the cup! The first point that the air should see the paint is where you can actually see the fluid nozzle emerging from the front of the airbrush, and the needle emerging from the fluid nozzle. Before that, they are totally separated. Hope that helps!

Every airbrush WILL clog if you don't pay attention to the paint prep, and to the needle tip. The problem is that as far as we're aware, nobody really took the time to offer a simple solution for the needle tip dry thing. This is what the game changer is. If anyone ever tells you that their airbrush doesn't clog, you already know that they are not to be trusted :-)) - to that note, you'll see that we can our head system the Clog Control System - in other words, it gives you control over this aspect, but it still relies upon your action. However, do that, and airbrushing nirvana awaits you buddy!

Awesome video, it tought me a lot! I was a little bit struggling with the Ultra 2024 during my first 2 sessions, but I now know why :D Nevertheless, there are a few follow-up questions, which came up while watching, because I am not fully understanding the physics behind color flow: 1) In one of the FAQ videos about clogging you said that you regularly "clean" the needle tip by going full flow rate so that the needle will be cleaned by the moisture and pressure. When using the presets, there is no option to do so. What is -in your opinion easier? Cleaning the tip with a brush using the hat-recesses as shown in this video or to unlock the presets and go full air? 2) You said that you like to keep the air flowing in between the paint application. Will this avoid clogging or accelerate it (because I thought air is drying paint)? :D 3) I was told that it is not that necessary to always use cleaner when changing colors, water would be enough. In the video you only used cleaner. Will this maintain the pistol better and avoid clogging? 4) I didn't saw you cleaning the tip from the bottom recess of the hat. Will this be a problem in longer sessions? Thanks in advance!

Appreciate the mention of compressors, there are many 'good' ones, I'm surprised SparMax hasn't worked on a new design or upgrade to their past work. I might be mistaken, they helped innovate the oilless compressor. I think their TC620X is the last, years old design. Not "silent' but tolerable, could have used a larger air tank. Good compressor. It's refreshing H&S is offering it's own marketing videos, good on H&S, should have been done sooner. So far the presentations have been well done. Sparmax were the innovators in oilless compressor design, yes, and you can still see this in terms of their reliability. Very good units, indeed. They have made several refinements to their range since the TC620X. Most interestingly is the double speed motor which allows similar output to the 620X but with a single piston. It's smaller, less expensive, and almost as powerful - that the TC610HPlus (we call it the PRO compressor on our site). That's a very nice innovation from them. And thank you for the encouragement!
