I studies Hsing-I Chuan from Grandmaster Wai Lun Choi in Chicago for 15 months in 1993 and 1994. I stopped to go to school at night while I worked in the day time. I regret not completing my learning of such a powerful martial art. Your techniques look a lot like his “version” of Hsing-I Chuan.

Chris is my hero -- for taking all those hits. Even though Chan Sifi is holding back, there is still a lot of energy behind those strikes.

I haven't seen this kuen in real life. It's like basic wushu physics, right? So wood is like wing chun, ok. That's something I would like to see, so we have here a kuen based on external?
@Sifu-Myers
@Sifu-Myers 10 ай бұрын
@misterlau5246 I'm not to sure about that. Most Xing Yi seems fairly linear and well not hard style but looks like it would be the Xing Yi I study is a little less linear. Yeah I've always been told if you wanted to say what Element Wing Chun is it would be Wood based off the principles of each. If I'm not mistaken the Wing Chun Fist I've seen called arrow fist which fits perfectly with a wood concept is also very similar to the Wood fist. I'm sure there's differences but it's got the same concept.

I've used the movement shown @2:55 lately in my own drills but I also add the straight short steel bar with weights on it that Bruce made popular for his isometrics or is one inch punch/straight blast or straight lead for that matter. A metal bar with light weights on it can help so much in building explosive power and being direct using the straight shape of the bar as a centre line that moves. The snap at the end helps your fist clench and forearm strength holding the weight itself and the end of the snap You can also teach yourself to be loose till the end when the snap comes and holding this weight completely still at the snap is really effective for conditioning. I have taken it a step further with a hollow bar filled with sand 2/3rd's and a hollow cylinder at the end also filled with sand 2/3rd's as to have a moving resistance with the sand when you snap your fistt up at the end of movement. I know it may sound a little hokey but trust me. I seen a difference in my power , speed and snap within 2 weeks after I made this using it every day. I have used it for years now doing hundreds of reps. I use a red bar as a visual aspect to see that I am lining up straight with my target. Try it out. It's cheap to make. Get some sand from the beach. It doesn't have to be a steel pipe at first ...it can be a PVC pipe. Soon you will want it to be more heavy though. Bruce taught me to make a lot of my own gadgets or objects to train harder and be more efficient. cheers ...and be water my friends

I have a few questions. It seems like every lineage of Xingyi interprets the 5 fists (and 12 animals) in radically different ways. Like, way more radically than most stylistic differences between karate styles even! I've always interpreted Pao Quan 炮拳 almost like a Mexican Uppercut where you expand your abs, push out with the Dantian, and lift like with an uppercut, but end by thrusting forward with a power-side (rear) straight punch instead of slashing at the chin with an uppercut. Here, I'm seeing Sifu Adam do a lot of Pao Quan with his lead hand also. In terms of body mechanics, do you believe that any of the 5 fists refer specifically to differences in power between the lead and rear hands?

@williambreazeal387

The opponent should not be knocked back by the receiving/rear arm. Pao deflects and draws the opponent in and onto the striking hand. Pao imitates the withdrawal of the spear on the high line. Rear hand twists and elbow fires back, this withdrawing force is passed to the lead hand to power the strike.

3:03 The first thing I noticed, and this is not a criticism, in any way. Just an observation. That high KAO SAO stop hand, coupled with that lead JUNG DA. I’m concerned that the power, and pain n distraction levels might not be enough. Especially against a superior foe. The other thing was. Should we be stepping in to center with an outside stop hand and hit? What if he throws any number of combinations. A 1-2. Anything other than a straight punch. The double TAN SAO thing, where you use them on Chris’s shots till you catch a PAK SAO. I don’t think that’s a good method of training. And again. That’s not to say anything is wrong. But if this is WING CHUN. We wanna use the SHAOLIN different. More active. Here’s what I mean. 1. TAKE OUT HIS LEAD HAND on the way to the head. A direct slipping off is all that is needed when there’s a hand contact. Right hand lead pak sao becomes lead BUI SAO. Now our left goes underneath. We shift. And take out his back hand by hitting up center from a SHIFTED POSITION. ☮️✅☺️just ideas to think about. I do realize this is the TAI CHI way. ✅☺️💯5 FISTS way is not wrong. If I can get you to think about the trap. I just wondered why they didn’t go after BOTH HANDS. 😇☮️☺️still, a cool video. I get it. Destroy the structure. 💯💥

после некоторого времени самостоятельных занятий я пришёл к устойчивому выводу, что пао это боковой удар. Кто-то зарисовал в конечной точке мастера, а то что он пришёл в неё по дуге не нарисовал.

Your comments about the shoulder weakness is why the movement is wrong structurally. You explained it and so you know it but then you make some special situation to alllow the problem. If your frame is natural, your shoulder sinks. You don’t exceed the natural structure. Go look at Han Jing Chen’s movements to see the difference. Two hands are one, but your monkey hands have also broken structure. Placed in a poor position for some special purpose.
