Lovie Langston purchased her beloved dog, Ziva, from a Petland store in Bellaire, Texas. When she brought Ziva home to her family, they started to notice immediate health issues. Ziva had hypoglycemia and suffered from seizures. Despite receiving all the treatment and TLC the family could provide, Ziva died less than a year later, leaving Lovie and her family devastated.
On top of the loss of her beloved companion, Lovie incurred a large debt from her purchase at Petland. She was enrolled in multiple loans to pay the total at the store, which was over $8,000. One loan had an interest rate of 133%.

Dogs sold in pet stores are commonly sourced from puppy mills. Due to poor conditions, puppies from these facilities are often sick.
