It's Me or the Dog

These two tiny terrors bully every dog they meet. They instigate terrible symphonies of barking, they nip and cause fights with bigger dogs and they refuse any attempt at house-training. At home, their high-pitched barking has led to dirty looks and complaints from the neighbors. Tamara is so terrified of losing her apartment that she's considering having her veterinarian clip the dogs' vocal chords so they can't bark at all!

@@RainbowFlowerCrowIt’s a lot like special education. The majority of educators in the field are in it because they have their own children, siblings, cousins, nieces/nephews, or grew up with neighbors who are disabled, and they’ve witnessed the very serious pitfalls in special education and went into the job passionate to make a difference, and willing to put in the hard work. And then there’s the people who got into the field thinking it would be an easy paycheck. I can always sniff them out, and will do everything in my power to keep my children away from them, nothing is worth the potentially irreparable damage that can be caused by allowing people who really don’t care at all be responsible for vulnerable children and animals. It’s very much the same with people who are drawn to work with animals. Most love animals, most are passionate about it and willing to put in the work because they actually care for animals well being- but there’s always going to be some who foolishly think working with animals is a way to make easy money, and those people can go to hell.

Plus, she's so proud of being able to control her day care dogs, but she thinks yelling at dogs is the way to train/control them. She's ignorant about this, and she's ignorant about debarking, and she's apparently made no attempt to take even the most basic steps to educate herself-- for the sake of her occupation, the day care dogs and customers, or her own dogs. She seems to be an educated, or at the very least, literate, woman, why hasn't she read a book/done some research? She seems not to have even googled the basics. Based on her "I can't be kicked out of my ("her?" -- not "our?" Right up there with "I"--- not we-- "just got a new couch," and "I'll TELL Max"-- not ask him-- "to bring the dogs here" ) apartment, so I have to do something"-- i.e., debark her dogs-- I'm glad they don't have a colicky baby; I can just see her snipping the baby's vocal chords because nothing else stops the crying, and she "can't get kicked out of her apartment." Topping it all off, for me, is her statement, "I don't have time for dogs that disrupt the energy," a remark with so little understanding of, among other things, the human's role/responsibility in interacting with dogs, that it would be bizarre coming from anyone, let alone someone whose job is caring for dogs.

@@TakeTheRide That wasn't the point of what was said. The concern was her breaking the training of the people's dogs she is watching with her behavior around them. She physically swatted one of the dogs in the start of the video. That's not her dog to be doing that and you shouldn't lay hands on your dog either. The worry is she is undoing her clients dog's training.

@@carolinelewis6798I don’t know, I feel like this show compared to the millions that are out there is less likely to he staged due to the fact that dog training is a process that everyone can very easily go through if they have a rowdy dog. It’s also more made for educational purposes alongside entertainment and Victoria seems to be genuine in true in her methods. Suffice to say that there may or may not be some staged *parts* but I doubt there’s very many at all and if there is, they’re usually indicated to be part of the training. For example: Having someone ring the doorbell repeatedly or have someone walk their dog parallel to the other. I’d likely say that what you stated first is the more potential outcome. She had enough business flow to keep afloat but the show also made a point to prove that her ideas were heavily misguided and dangerously ignorant, allowing her room to grow and become a better caretaker. She was willing to learn and I think people are more willing to forgive if they know a person is doing their best to do things the right way

@@littlesparrowwitch im not the only one who doesn't want to listen to dogs barking, they wouldn't have debarking surgery or shock collars if only one person had a problem with it. You can advocate for anything you like, but humans have rights and dogs don't have the same ones. Humans need their vocal cords to function in society, not having them is a legitimate disability. The overwhelming majority of dogs serve no function beyond the emotional needs of their owners and the sound they produce is equally functionless and a downright nusience.

Not her, her neighbours, can't handle the barking. I wouldn't be a fan of it either. No, I much prefer larger dogs like my own Labrador who’s hardly ever barked in 12.5 years. He communicates by moving around a lot, pacing, zoomies, tapdancing, bouncing, when he was younger, he would gallop rather than run during play. He also communicates and gets attention by shaking his head several times, facial expressions, body language, moving towards or away from things whether he wants them or not, for example, the door if he wants outside, the kitchen if he wants food or drink. he'll lie right underneath anybody's legs if he wants human company. He is the strangest dog I've ever met, let alone been the owner, for all of the above reasons.

What the hell - can't train your dogs properly so you want to cut their vocal chords!? That's barbaric!! I have a barky dog he is a rescue and was abused and not socialised. It has taken a lot of work on my part to help him. Barks are them communicating, fear, stress, strangers... You have to address the issue to solve the barking. Also cutting chords isn't going to stop them being out of control!

This lady shouldnt have a doggie daycare period. To sit there and go debarking is less invasive than spaying or neurtoring and then after victoria said it should be illegal, and then when camera on her goes i havent done much research!!!! The heck are you doing acting like you did do research than by saying its less invassive...... your suppose to be guarding dogs when their owners arent around not potentially permanently harming them with ideas. Most animal care things here are illegal in other countries for a reason....

Oooh my! If he would be my husband, i would be so grateful, if he likes his dogs on the couch, sitting on him or next to him! I would looove him even more😂 I looove a man, who not only accepts the dogs on the couch or bed, but loooves the dogs on the bed or couth, snuggling, kissing eachother. Never found a man like this man! So i stay single. This man is a gem. The barking is a problem if you are afraid to be kicked out of your house. But cutting the vocal cord?! Oooh my gosh, how horrible is that? Cruel yes. Interresting to watch this video. Thanks.

It feels like the lady only cares about her self she keeps saying "The dogs barking could get me evicted", "It's a liability issue for me". If she is so worried that her dog is causing her a possible liability issue she should have trained them properly sooner. She never said "I'm worried she'll get hurt" or "I worry they get stressed out" she never says anything that communicates to me that she really cares about her dogs.

What in the world? How do these people not realize their dogs need to be on a different leash ....two SEPARATE 6ft leads not a retractable leash that they are both connected to. I swear people have NO common sense these days. Also you need to hold your dogs back and not let them go up to whoever they want!

Thank you for having empathy for the owner! All the self-righteous dog owners in the comments are doing too much. The vocal chord surgery seemed like a last resort option because she’s highly stressed and a bit neurotic. She also said she didn’t do much research so chances are she wasn’t aware of the implications.

I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE that HAVE de-barked their dogs. Do you know how freaking hard it is, to find an apartment in NYC?? If she lost her apartment , it could be up to 3 years, before she could afford a deposit , much less even find a place available. I watched a NYC real estate reality show & one of the people , looking for a better place , was living in a water heater closet, that only fit a small mattress crammed in wall to wall & their laptop computer. That's all they could fit in there. They were paying $1850 a month not including utilities & $1500 a month for a parking space, they waited 4 or 5 years for. Just trying to illustrate, the difficulties of living , renting & parking , in NYC.

That's why I will never own a small and yappy dog. I prefer large breeds. More difficult to control in other ways, but they are so much more people oriented and easier to calm or quieten down, whatever the situation, especially, out on walks or if somebody comes to the door. My Lab is the perfect example of an almost, barkless dog, because he has barked, but very few people have heard him bark in 12.5 years. I have never really found out why he either, chooses not to bark or, he was trained to such an extent as my own service dog as well, that he feels he can't ever bark.
