Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this video, I previously thought i'd try to replace the touch screen which was the only thing originally gone, but cracked housing also, so wanted to purchase mid plate & back. So attempted to remove touch screen and fluffed my LCD. But bought a Midplate/Touc/Lcd all assembled and watched your video from roughly 03:00 till 06:30 and followed it step by step and change it. I even changed the colour from white to Black...With your dissemble & Reassemble video's....The feeling of satisfaction is when it boots at the end....Thank you so much Go Cell Phone Repair....

It's not too tough. I was still waiting for a new back to come in when I made this video. It goes in top end first and tuck under the front of the housing. Be absolutely sure that you have tested all phone functions and that you remember to put the buttons in if they aren't already as you won't want to have to take it apart again.
@GoCellPhoneRepair11 жыл бұрын
If you are careful you might be able to remove the housing without damaging it. Not easy but it is possible. I have added a link to the video description for replacement parts. There is no glue in the housing. It snaps together with clips.

i tried this on the verizon HTC One. followed your instructions and all is well!.. go ahead on buy a new back housing as well, the old one is pretty much destroyed after removal :) slid it in from the top and worked the clips going down

Hi, amazing video, but the thing is, I have actually confirmed from a few HTC insiders that they actually do use heat to open the One. They specified that they use heat only on the center part of the back panel. I have personally seen the "tool" that they use, and it definitely looks like there is a large heat gun attached to the top of it. So, no harm in using heat.
@GoCellPhoneRepair11 жыл бұрын
I am always open to new ideas so if you prefer to use heat, good luck and let me know how it goes. Just keep in mind that anything over 150 degrees F can easily damage internal components. Maybe it might make the plastic strips on the sides slightly more flexible but in my experience heat does not affect the process in any way. I'd be interested in seeing more details/documentation. Since there is no adhesive inside the metal rear panel I question how heat would be a benefit.

hey man i followed every step but when i replaced the top speaker, i followed your advice and tried it out before putting on the new back plate, it turned on normal but i played a song and the new top speaker had no sound and i tried using the camera but it didnt active (im wondering if not putting on a back cover doesnt allow my camera or top speaker to function?) or did i miss something other than installing the back cover? oh and the top speaker had sound before the repair.

Hey, I dropped my HTC a month ago and damaged the LCD and digitizer so I ordered a complete new black housing for it and changed it myself into the new one. I followed every step right but when I plugged my phone in to charge, the LED and the screen doesn't turn on. My phone has been dead for a month, maybe the battery just needs to kick in after an hour of charging or maybe the parts that I ordered were defective. Which part do u think is most likely to be defective for this to happen?
@Browningate7 жыл бұрын
Is it normal if, prior to replacing the back cover, sound only comes out of the "top" (left, earpiece, whatever you want to call it) speaker when pressure is applied to the speaker? Will the back cover apply the appropriate amount of pressure once it is reinstalled?
@GoCellPhoneRepair7 жыл бұрын
I haven't worked on this phone for a very long time. That doesn't sound right but the speaker may require some pressure to make contact. I'd check to see if maybe the prongs have become bent and maybe adjust them.
@Browningate7 жыл бұрын
@Go Cell In the end, everything turned out fine. Sound worked flawlessly out of that speaker after the back cover went on. Unfortunately, the one thing that I didn't think to test (the SIM card slot in the new screen) turned out to be bad, so now I have a 100% functional and physically-flawless HTC One with no cellular capabilities at all whatsoever. The outfit that sold me the screen is sending another one, but I'm probably going to have to end up buying *another* back cover, seeing as these things are nearly impossible to dismantle without damaging that cover in some way. So close, yet so far. The One M7 is worth it though, and the whole experience should prove to be an excellent learning experience.
@GoCellPhoneRepair7 жыл бұрын
Here's the good news. Those back panels are a bit easier to remove after they have been replaced. That's why occasionally we see a video with someone talking about how they were able to remove theirs without any damage. Misleading as they don't disclose, possibly because they aren't aware, that the panel is not original.
@Browningate7 жыл бұрын
@Go Cell Well, you're not wrong. I was actually able to get the new back cover off of my One today without causing any noteworthy damage. It's a long journey to tear everything down and install the screen again, but it will be nice when this is finally over.

Hi there. Thank you very much for some great work with these disassembly and reassembly tutorials. I have managed to take my phone apart and reassemble it, and everything that I have checked so far seems to work - except for the camera. When I start it, the camera buttons come up, but otherwise the screen is black. After a few seconds, the screen goes back to the home screen. Could I have missed something? Or maybe disrupted the camera connector somehow? Thanks in advance
@GoCellPhoneRepair9 жыл бұрын
+Martin Christoffersen This phone tends to be prone to many problems especially after repair. So much that we don't work on them any more. It probably has nothing to do with your repair but you can try replacing the camera. The only good news is that it's easier to open the second time.

I have recently replaced the display assembly on my HTC One M7 but I have run into a little problem. I haven't put the back cover on yet so I could test the functionality of the phone and the lower speaker is not working. I was wondering, does the lower speaker require the back cover to be in place? LCD may not be plugged in properly otherwise possibly damaged. Try re-seating the connection and testing before putting everything back together. If it works again when phone is taken apart then something could be shorting out when it is assembled. Hopefully you won't need a new screen.

Sounds like an antenna wire got disconnected. Either that or something might have grounded on the cover but I'd be inclined to suspect the former. Unfortunately you will probably have to open the back again. I'm sure you tried reseting the phone already but that would have been my first choice just in case. Remove and re-install SIM, confirm that it works in another phone etc. Try all the easy fixes first.

Thank you for the quick response! I've taken a close look at one of the flex cables and noticed that it has a very slight tear to it, it's the one connected to the new lcd/digitiser replacement part I bought. Not sure if that tear is enough to render the lcd useless but the touch keys do light up every time I press the power button.
@GoCellPhoneRepair10 жыл бұрын
MasterBlaster200999 Bad news. It takes a very small amount of damage to prevent those cables from working properly. Even a scratch can completely disable them. From what you say it sounds like that is the problem.

Quick question; I replaced the LCD and screen on my m7. I haven't put the housing cover yet.(thanks for that advise by the way). Well anyways when I play music, the speaker doesn't work. I have to apply pressure to the back center piece of the upper board. Will the housing cover apply the pressure once it's on? or does the speaker have to work regardless of the housing cover and without any type of pressure? also, the quality is a bit staticy, is that normal? what do you recommend ?
@GoCellPhoneRepair9 жыл бұрын
+Oscar Estrada This phone tends to be prone to many problems especially after repair. So much that we don't work on them any more. It could be that one of the connectors is slightly off and when you press down on it you get better contact. As far as static no that is not normal. Most of the time unplugging everything and doing a rebuild is the first thing I would try to correct the problem. It is possible that you got a defective part though. The only good news is that it's easier to open the second time.

I wouldn't try removing the screen from the frame. If this started happening when you changed the display you might have gotten a bad one. If you've ruled out the other possible causes I would try exchanging the part.

@GoCellPhoneRepair11 жыл бұрын
remi lefebvre If you haven't already done so I would try re-seating the SIM reader flex cable as it may not be properly connected. If it is then this is not going to be fun. First off if you bought the entire LCD with mid-frame assembly your old SIM reader should still be inside of the original. If that is the case you might have got a defective replacement and should exchange it for a working one. You can however plug in your replacement reader without removing the LCD. Just unplug the old one and test the new part before going any further. Otherwise removing a SIM reader from the mid-frame is going to be very risky as far as damaging the LCD. I made a short unlisted video for you (see below) and will leave it visible for the next couple of days. Let me know how it goes and good luck! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGWaiIynp6mKr6c

It's hard to say for sure but I will tell you that there's a good chance it had nothing to do with your repair. HTCs seem to be designed NOT to be serviced lately.
