I as a Chinese, don't even know some of the pantang too! Very interesting video, and it is so lovely to see their reactions too! Keep up the good work!
About the napping thing, actually it's only "No napping on the 7th day of CNY". Reason is the 7th day of CNY is 人日,the birthday of mankind. If you take a nap on this particular day you are deem not energetic (even become ill) throughout the year. Well for me, it's just a belief & tradition. The more logical explanation is you already stay up late to play & have fun from day 1 to day 6, it's wise to readjust back your normal routine from day 7 onwards (if you don't have a nap during day time you will tend to be sleeping early, right?)

Not all Chinese know all these rules, some of the taboos just came up from random person that think it’s bad luck to them, that’s why not all Chinese know these taboos like the new rice, cannot wash cloth…. As for the part that you shouldn’t swipe the floor, clean this and that, I believe it’s more like a custom to make people clean their house before CNY, during CNY you are supposed to put the chores aside and spend time with family and friends. Should take medicine also is a way to tell you that you should take care of your health, of course those already sick just ignore it. Avoid taking nap also because your family and friends are visiting you, if you are taking nap is alike you are avoiding visitors.
Some practice are with story or cultural reason behind, but some simply out of mind, lol 😂. Anyway all festival celebrations of Malaysia are so unique & special. Happy Chinese New Year 🧧

I only follow 'married daughter go home on 2nd day'. Other pantang-larang I don't follow at all. Some of those you mentioned I don't even know 🤣
I thought the porridge one is more like because porridge is the food we eat during chinese funerals so very pantang, no?

Most of the TABOOS mentioned are not practice or heard before in Singapore. I don't know about Malaysian's chinese, but in Singapore we Sinaporean's chinese are not doing it. Are you sure today topic is about CNY and not from other races or religions?
Hahaha for my family, whatever my mom said is the rules - she may come up with the most random things ever to stop us from doing things that she doesn't like and call that as "tradition", sekali we check online, no such tradition also 😂

It’s actually ask you to take care of cleanliness, clean your house before CNY, so that during CNY you and spend more time with family and friends, and at the same time don’t mess up the house of your family and friends. Avoid taking medicine, so you should drink more water and don’t get sick during CNY lo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
