LARGEST RC Helicopters in Switzerland - Loorholz 2024 Flying Days

For RC aircraft flying and large scale RC helicopters in particular, the Loorholz Flying Days (Flugtage Loorholz) in Switzerland are a highlight in the Swiss RC calendar with more than 100 pilots from all over Europe showing what is possible with models from all areas of model flying. This weekend, on the occasion of the Flugtage Loorholz 2024, I paid a visit to this RC airfield in the beautiful canton of Aargau and I was richly rewarded with great RC models and RC demonstrations... but take a look for yourself and enjoy these great RC machines !

Hi Jim, thank you for your feedback ! I also would have loved to capture at least some of the glider in the air but unfortunately I had some focusing problems with the camera and the light brown / white color of the glider when airborne pronounced that even further. By the time I checked my camera, the glider already had landed again. Anyhow, I am glad you like the aircrafts though and who knows, maybe at another occasion, I might be able to get more video footage of this wooden bird, also when in the air ! 😊

Wow! This is awesome! I am not sure, but when I flew these these kind of models, I used Futaba and JR controllers, receivers and servos! That was 12-13 years ago I guess and there are probably better products out there now. Just seems like a huge difference in quicker response times for the servos being used on all of the flight control surfaces and obviously advanced aircraft flight control systems! Just amazing! I love Switzerland! Thank you everyone!

Ja, das ist reglementiert. In der Schweiz z.B. gilt folgendes: Erlaubt ist das Betreiben von Modellluftfahrzeugen bis 30 kg in direkter Sichtverbindung. Modelle die schwerer als 30kg sind, oder das Fliegen ausserhalb der direkten Sichtverbindung benötigen eine Genehmigung des Schweizerischen Bundesamtes für Zivilluftfahrt (BAZL).

a replica of a Sikorsky S-61 variant. The actual Sikorsky helo was capable of land in water, mild seas, and was a mainstay of the US Navy in the early 1960's for carrier ops air-sea rescue and recovery of US astronauts upon splashdown return from space flights.

i certainly wouldnt want to be in that helicopter on takeoff. That was the shakiest takeoff ive ever seen and it would have the passengers crapping in their undies. Rc helicopters fly like crap.
