Thank you traent for sharing your reaction. Hua chenyu is totally captivating. I can get totally lost in his performances. Not only is his voice unique his delivery draws you into his world and takes you on the journey. I am not ashamed to say i am totally addicted to his music. In fact , I see all the singers are each provided with a musical partner to attend to their every needs for the whole duration of the competition or until they are out of the competition. The musical partner acts as their guide,, personal assistant , runner and even companion.

Thank you for you wonderful reaction as ever. You are so good at picking out nuisances that are signature to Hua Hua like the subtle background vocals. This is the song that drew me into his fandom. Vocally he demonstrated excellence dynamics and breath control, and that climax! It’s sooooooooo hard to change from a belted open vowel in mixed voice to to soft close vowel in head voice, especially in such high range. Totally impressive. But beyond that, this song hit my soul. I felt like he was singing to the child in me, in all of us, and the harmony at the end is simply divine. It’s like a lullaby. It brings peace to the soul.

The lady on the left is his manager /agent while the guy on the right is his music advisor on the show. The role of the music partner in the show is to arrange all his rehearsals with the band/musicians and be the bridge of correspondence between the producers/management of the show and him. Every competing singer in the show has a dedicated music partner. They are typically popular variety show hosts or less known singers.

I LOVE "unique" singers like Hua, Dimash, Vitas, Beth, and Angelina!!! :) I get tired of "cookie cutter" singers who all sound the same and may sing fantastic, but bring nothing new to the table. Well, I have been remiss in not reacting sooner to this reaction! What a moment of serendipity! During the song, the lyrics that literally jumped out at me, you highlighted on the screen before you closed out. When I heard these words I immediately wrote them down in my day planner to share with MY children later -- AS TIME PASSES RELENTLESSLY! So true! The atomic clock is relentless! It stops for no man! You mentioned he trains the choir before every performance and no doubt he has exacting standards. The harmony and balance that he has with them, as David Ens relates, is "flawless!" David goes on to note that this rendition is "spiritually uplifting and has an angelic melody...." So true! The word that I would use to describe Hua Hua in this song would be "Ethereal." When he sings I feel myself being buoyed by golden balloons! Do your thang, Hua Hua! You my boy!

In this competition all the singers have a so called “mentor” w/them throughout the competition. The man is his mentor. He is also an accomplished singer on his own right. Love your reaction. Yes he reaaranged this song. On singer every singer is only allowed to sing 2 of their orginal songs and the rest they have to rearrange other songs. Actually it's a competition of rearranging songs and singing. Hua did a great job of rearranging songs. His original songs are Wukong on ep4 and I don't care on ep7, both composed by himself. Also ep 14 Shimmer is his original song. But ep14 is no longer the competion.
