Really enjoyed both vlog on Hua Lamphong in the 1st one where the locals were playing drafts as a train passed !!!!!! This dark side vlog really good Pat . Breaks my heart seeing the homeless outside with a station sitting there empty . Could you imagine getting that close to a train passing you on the tracks to film in the UK !!!!! The steam train was amazing. The train sleepers are good for quiet a few things I once made a fire place surround with a few of them I got. Stay safe Pat
@BangkokPat3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Jimmy, that's the fun thing doing videos here, always a chance to get something unique if you hang around enough, which is another reason why I can't do the walking videos, I'd miss too much! In the UK they'd close the whole network down because I was on the track, but here the staff just assume you'll use some common sense, it's a busy old track outside Hua Lamphong! My mate also has a fireplace surround from old sleepers back in London, and those are about twice as big!

Wow. Operating steam locomotives in Bangkok. Amazing.. do they make announcements about when they will appear?? There seemed to be two locomotives, one towing the other. I've walked across those tracks where the people live.. during they day, unfortunately, when it was relatively empty. The back of Bobae Market opens out onto the tracks.. there are small eating shops, benches set up between the tracks, even an honest-to-goodness jukebox (in retrospect, I should have put a coin in and played something). I wonder if all that will still be there when I am able to return, or if it'll all be gentrified.

I doubt that'll get gentrified in a hurry, they had a hair ''salon'' set up next to the track last time I walked through. Someone getting their hair done. There are regular steam train trips, last one was about a week ago, they sell out fast!

The crossover you mention is called a 'double slip '
@BangkokPat3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Martin,. I knew it was something simple like that, yet it always seems to 'slip' my mind. That's why you haven't seen me on mastermind.

Great video the two steam trans looked magnificent. Its strange that the answer to homeless people all over the world is just to move them on, its as if the people in charge of the world enjoy watching others suffer.

I want to take the steam train at night just to hear that steam whistle. - Thank you Pat!

You sure can't miss that whistle, was great to hear it come out of the darkness all of a sudden!

I'm going to miss the free haircuts at the station. Always exciting to be travelling by train.

I forgot about those! Not that I ever had one but my mate used to talk about it, great facilities!!

I got on a train from here only once, in December 2020 when it was still supposed to be shut down. I was so grateful to my friend who gave me that chance, but even though the station is still operating I'm grateful to her nonetheless 🥰

The sight of that steam train will make quite a few trainspotters/railway enthusiasts look up flights to BKK at the drop of a hat

All the residents on both sides of the track didn't seem too excited but they get hundreds of trains passing through each week!
