After the video, I see no reason to update. That minor graphics icon changes are in my opinion way nicer on EMUI 11. Totally agree. I won't be updating my P30 Pro from EMUI 11. As far as I'm concerned, the phone works great just as it is. The "updates" just seem to add complexity. I've never liked the iOS control panel and notifications - why would you copy that? Also, I use Nova Launcher and I can almost guarantee that updating to EMUI 12 would break my setup.

I just got emui 12 on my p40 lite. Looks so smooth. The best difference you forgot to mention is in the gallery!! You can pinch with your fingers to arrange items chronologicaly. Better appearance than emui 10 i was using before!

I just got it two days ago in New York on my P30 Pro that I had since 2019, no problems here. Still works as good, as smooth. I still don't have wifi calling enabled which sucks. The split notifications is kind of stupid but I got used to it quickly.

Honestly, it looks like a downgrade. I don't know who thought splitting control center and notifications will be a good idea. Especially when phones are getting bigger and you have to reach to top left corner to see notifications. Plus flat design of emui 11 looks better

Using Huawei P20 Pro, and this is the first update that made my phone faster / less laggy. I don't mind the left / right top menus, and I couldn't care less about icon changes and such. I though big folders are dumb at first, thinking it's just icons on the main screen with a box around, but the box is of size 2x2, and you can fit 9 icons in it, so it's more compact I guess.

Slinding the top left corner for notifications and the top right for the control panel is just annoying, specially when in the previous versions you could see both in one move. It's just cumbersome. Same goes for the multiscreen feature.

I have Mate 10 Pro. It updated last week from Emui 10 to 12. All the Google stuff is still the same. There is loads of new Huawei apps that replicate the Google apps, but the Google ones are still in there. Overall i wish i hadn't updated it as a few features have disappeared and i haven't found anything new that i find useful or improved

Why istn't there an option to disable the new Control Center Style?! This alone is for many users a reason to go back to Emui 11. (For me it's just annoying to have to slide down from top left OR top right! e.g. With one hand it can be difficult to swipe from top left, and you have to get used to the separation of Control Panel and Notifications.) So just in case somebody is still on Emui 11, considering the update to 12 - think twice! (to go back to Emui 11 afterwards is not easy, so eventually it's better to keep ye olde Emui 11)

Send this to Huawei. Their control center design is practically... Horrible. With modern day smartphones being tall and wide, it makes one handed usage hard and a hassle. Having to constantly reach the top portion of the screen to do one simple action is not something that I want to keep doing. The only Brand that I recall is able to acknowledge this issue is Samsung with their OneUI. While, their phones may have been getting huge, navigating through the UI isn't really all that different across devices unless it's small like close to 6 inches small or even smaller. On one UI, the control center and notification panel is still the same but now, the Control center buttons are placed lower for easier reach. This just makes things a whole lot better in my opinion as having to always adjust my hand just to click the Data on/off isn't the best experience. Don't get me wrong, the design is aesthetically pleasing but, practicality isn't its strong suit. Adjustments needs to be made and added customization features as well. Here are the changes/suggestions that I think many people would very much appreciate: -the brightness slider should be placed lower on a level that's easier for a thumb to reach. -the square icon for the wifi, data, airplane mode, etc should be placed on the right bottom side of the control center. -the settings shortcut to be placed just to the left side of the square icon containing the wifi and other connection hotkeys. -The auto rotate should be placed on top of the settings shortcut. The basic idea is that, everything should be placed within the order of "Most often used." The buttons people often use would be placed lower on the control center for an easier reach. Huawei should also add the option that Samsung has had since Android 9 and that is the button that appears on the bottom right corner of the screen when it detects that your phone is on Landscape mode. That button will allow you to manually set the display to landscape mode and this doesn't get affected by your gyro or anything which makes things easier when lying down on your side or any other position where your phone would mistakingly switch between Landscape to portrait or vice versa. Another thing is for the camera app. Why not just take the buttons on the top part od the camera UI and put them in a folder placed on the top right side of the camera modes/options? Or just place them all on top of the camera modes or options. The search bar on the settings to be placed on the bottom right side of the screen, though not too low nor too high. Just right. Have the control center/notification panel be accessible via swiping up beside the bar for the gesture navigation. That would be easier. Like, just make the UI easier for our hands Huawei. Stop copying and trying to be Apple and start taking from windows mobile.

I don't understand why these companies always want to force upgrades upon people. It should be illegal. I bought my phone and it work. Have Mate 20 pro. When updated to EMUI 12, many things just broke. Some apps don't even open (some of them are Viber, Gmail, default Huawei apps like the files explorer, or cloud app etc.), Notification system is just trash (example: Spotify bar sometimes appear on locked screen and some times just does not) If you ask me, just don't.

@Dominik it won't get emui 12 since that's just huawei (they are two different companies now) but magic ui 5 (honors version that looks the same) is being released not too sure what devices it will support.

I have a Huawei Mate 20 X (big phone, I like big phones). Will be getting a new phone at some point. Doesn't have to be Huawei but I'm not looking for iPhones or Samsungs. Anybody got any recommendations for any large display phones that aren't those brands?

When the US decides it needs to kiss and make up with China again and takes Huawei off its _'Companies To Punish For Not Accepting Demands To Embed NSA Backdoor Malware In Their 5G Telecom hardware'_ sh*tlist. Then, you'll get android 11/12/15 and up on Huawei devices. It's not like Snowden didn't warn us about this. That it was absolutely paramount for the NSA and CIA to block any and all next gen (then 5G) telecom infrastructure and strong mobile device competitors, from being part of the buildup of 5G (like the US did in UK and most of Europe, much of Asia and South America etc, with Huawei 5G backbone infrastructure equipment) - that would not bend the knee and accept the NSA and CIA to embed backdoors and malware to gather raw data and control without restriction and buypassing encryption. All the Western and American manufacturers bent to their will and did as requested - but Huawei refused. And everyone wanted Huawei's 5G equipment for their networks because it was simply far better built, far better performing, and even then still way cheaper than the US made Ericsson crap. So the US Fed had to pull out every dirty trick in the book to shut Huawei out of at least the infrastructure market while 5G networks are being built. Huawei phones, tablets etc getting wrapped up in this and blacklisted for accessing "American tech" (including Android), is "just" a side effect of this blacklisting of Huawei's telecom infrastructure equipment division. Once most modernized, industrialized countries are done building out at least their backbone framework of their 5G network infrastructure, then the goal of this scheme has run its course and Huawei will likely get off the blacklist again. That's likely gonna be at least 18-24 months from now.

Its not fair that only mobile huawei phones in china get the harmony and emui 12, otherwise samsung doesn segregate between chuna or europe phones, thats the reason that I want to sell my huawei p40pro
