Huawei Mate 10 Pro 3 Months Later: Still My Favorite?

It is definitely a great beast.. Successfully handling my very demand g use and 150 loaded applications besides meomy resident applications and clouds connections... Even batter and processor are doing fantastic compared to other flagship from Samsong, Apple, Xiaomi... I don't miss the expanding memory slot but I would've welcomed the wireless charging. One last thing I experienced in the mate pro family is the gorgeous build and robust design which can tolerate even my abuse and explode moments without any marks

Hi. I got Mate 10 Pro in early March. My SOT before March security update was around 6/7 hours, but after the update it went downfalls to only 4 hours barely 5 hours of SOT.

My Mate 10 Pro will be my main driver for time to come. Battery life is so good that this is the first phone in ages that I don't have to worry on the end of the day - itt will even keep on going for a second day. Doing like in car navigation for an hour and a half? Don't bother to search for a cable, the battery won't be sucked out and you'll have plenty of power left to keep on going for the rest of the day. Normally I get a new phone like once a year but this one will last longer.

For 2018 its still good if not one of the best phones still, I would take it over Huawei P20 or S9... but TBH I really like the OnePlus 6 even with the notch, if I was personally looking for a phone today I would be looking at that over Mate 10...especially the 8GB/256GB variant and cheaper than Mate 10...

I have been using a Note 8 for the last 10 months and I grew tired of the dismal battery life. Unplugging at 6am I would typically need a charge around 3 or 4 which is just pitiful. When I saw the M10P with its amazing battery life at B&H for $549 I couldn't resist and I bought it. Yesterday, I unplugged at 6am and at 10pm my battery was at 40% with 6 hrs and 45 minutes of screen on time. It is more fluid and faster than my N8 and the screen quality is nearly as good. I have only taken about 20 pictures and the cameras equal the N8 in every aspect. Build quality is exceptional and the stereo speakers are much better. I never used wireless charging or the 3mm headphone jack so the lack of these is a moot point. At exactly $400 less than my Note I couldn't be happier. I forgot to mention that the finger print sensor is lightening quick and better than any phone I have ever had.

Picked up my mocha brown one about 2 weeks ago from eBay brand new for $579. My pixel 2 still has a better camera but I prefer the bigger battery and the camera features on this phone for diversity. Never mind the 6-inch screen and stereo speakers blew away my pixel 2 5 inch screen with stereo speakers. I would also have to say the call Quality yes I did say call Quality I still make phone calls is top-notch

UK user here. I've had mine since December 2017 and its never failed to impress. It's done everything I've wanted of it and when it came to upgrading my daughters phone and as she's taking Photography in high school, it was a choice of this, the P20 Pro or the Google Pixel 2. Ultimately it was a no-choice, I got the Mate 10 Pro. Whilst the P20 Pro has a higher rated camera, she's obviously not using her mobile device for her portfolio, she will appreciate the Mate's camera ability for on-the-go photos which often can give exceptional results she can still use for her course. The only downside is that I found the screen not VR capable as the pixel density was far too low meaning a grainy view when used in a VR headset. 9/10

I've got myself the Mate 10 variant because I prefer the wider Form factor, expandable storage and headphone jack 👍 I was actually disappointed with the phone at first because for several months VPN doesn't works well... However somehow Huawei fixed that and now after 7 months my Huawei Mate 10 works marvelously! 👍

Wife's iPhone 6s Plus died in a sudden (logical board issue) Thursday after less than 3 years. With extended Apple care, it was an originally $1000 phone! Quite un-impressed by Apple Store support, wife had the gut to say bye to iPhone (since 2010) and gave Mate 10 Pro a try, got it a few hours ago and was very impressed by the quality.. Your review gives me more confidence that this phone will last and maintain the performance for time to come (her first Andriod phone). Thank you!!!

This device is really well optimized 6 gigas of ram and I always have around 3.5 gigas ram available even with many games many applications always very fluid no slowdown, I've had this phone for 6 months no problem at all, amazing device 😎

I've been using the Mate 10 Pro and it's hands down the best phone I've owned--far superior to Apple, Samsung, and HTC. Love the 4000 mAh battery which will last two days. Bought mine through eBay and set up was super easy.

Nice review Andrew! I have the Mate 10 Pro for three months and it is a blazing fast, great all around device with an excellent camera. I do feel the screen could have been brighter and there is some auto dimming when you go into certain apps. Watching lots of KZbin videos on the great screen!

since at&t backed out of their partnership with Huawei, do they allow it on their network and if so does everything work correctly? I heard from others, can not confirm, that some how at&t limits features on their network because it is not an "approved" at&t phone. That some how at&t limits features on the network if you use a phone that they do not sell.

Kevin P probably won't have WiFi calling. Same issue with T-Mobile. But, the antenna is really good, so I'm not sure if that's a big deal unless you are often somewhere very rural.

I bought the normal Mate 10 instead of the Pro version. So I got the SD Card and phone jack 😎 I loved the battery life, loved the camera and the phone is blazing fast. My only qualm is its Bluetooth and I also have trouble with VPN apps... Other than that this is a supremely good phone 👍

Looks great because it has slim bezels without the polarising notch. Slim bezel much better than ugly notch. With the quality construction and aesthetic appeal it's a winner. I have P10 pro which I like. Waiting for Mate 10 Pro price to drop further then I'll succumb and buy it. It's not available in US because smartphones are in full blown trade war between US and China.

I have a Google Nexus 6p and am upgrading soon. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is the phone in most likely going to go for. It sounds really good. My Google Nexus has been a good enough phone with the only major draw back being the volume is not very loud.

If you live in New York City you can buy this device from B&H Audio Video store for $500 brand new and they also sell a better case for it too if you don't like the case that's already in the box. I also own the Essential PH1 and these two devices are highly underrated in my opinion.

Great price, I had to buy an open box model to get a similar price a couple of weeks ago. You'll definitely love this phone. I use Nova Launcher over or EMUI, but I do appreciate all of the features Huawei offers w/EMUI. In addition to its great build quality, having a 6" OLED display, 128GB storage + 6GB RAM , 4000 mAh battery, and dual Leica cameras impossible to find in a Android phone for $550 today.

Hi, thanks for the review, i have spotted some issues on my side, do you have the issue about stereo sound inverted in landscape mode with rear camera when spoke to left the sound is played at right and when spoke at right, the sound is played on left (on phone and on PC) tested with google camera APK and it works, so i think it's a bug in Huawei APP camera and i don't really know how to report this in higher bug level huawei team. For now helpdesk ask me to return the phone and i have obtain one other guy with this same issue. So could be nice if you can confirm this too. Thanks.

Hi Andrew, I'm in France and I am about to make a smartphone purchase. My current phone, a Samsung Galaxy J5 which I bought back in 2015. With 8 Gb of IM, it is barely functional. I'm looking at either the Mate 10 Pro as you're showing here or the P20 (not the "Pro"). Strangely, they both are being sold nearly universally at all of the major electronics chains in France for 549 €. They all seem to be running the exact same promotion. You appear to be really sold on the Mate 10 Pro, but I'm really interested to know how you compare the two brother smartphones. Need to comment. I have had an iPhone for since the iPhone 3. Last iPhone I bought was the iPhone 6s. Android phones has always been to slow and laggy for my taste with forced restarts and so on. But With this phone I have made a switch. And this is a good phone. I would say that the iPhone X is a better phone but for the price this is a good choice. For me a premium phone can cost around $800 and you can get this for around $650, good deal. I say like this: if you don’t care about price buy an iPhone X but if you want a good phone for a good price this is good. And it’s easier then I thought to change from iOS to android. I have installed the Microsoft launcher and it works great. Great video! Keep up the good job.

I own one since it came out. It certainly has its issues that you did not mention. I also think that it is one of the best to date and i love it, but using it for some time i experienced some downsides too. 1. 4k Video has no EIS, meaning it is shaking a lot (compared to stabilized iphone or samsung). your sample video was also shaking so i dont understand why you said it is stable. furthermore the bitrate is very low. the videos have very little detail and look more like 1080p which is sad. anyone who records a lot of videos or does vlogs should not buy it 2.cpu is fast, but sadly only for 10 minutes. after that it is thermothrottled. games on high settings are unplayable. i even had problems with old games with bad graphics. everyday performance is super fast but it cant keep it up while gaming.

Love my mate 10 Pro. Only issue I have is the speaker location, and notifications that are in the background like fb get stuck in the notification tab unless you close your fb tab. I always found wireless charging useless is slow and pointless to me lol
