@KeonXD Not really. You have to unlock it with a fingerprint, slide notifications and check whats there (and if you unlock with face, you have to grab the phone) ...while on Samsung you can only throw a quick glance, you can see exactly what you got (if anything) and go to the app directly from your AOD! ...I switched from Note8to m20p, so while other stuff are great on Huauwei, this one really bothers me.

LG phones so underrated
@pp3k3jamail5 жыл бұрын
No they're not they don't deserve to be overrated because they leave customer hanging I bought the LG v20 back in October 2016 State outnet phone that's the first phone to be on 7.0 nougat that phone went a whole year without getting any updates about time I got rid of the lgv20 in August of 2018 then it got the Oreo 8.0 update. I still have my LG g4 that I bought back in 2015 that phone it's on the same where is an Android when I got it the phone didn't get one single update and this has been a problem with LG for a long time that's why I left. When I heard T-Mobile was carrying the OnePlus 6t I jumped on it. Before I got the OnePlus 6t in August I got a LG G6 which is on 8.0 but more than likely the LG G6 won't be getting the Android 9 update, that is going to be my last LG phone. For now on I'm just sticking with OnePlus. My OnePlus 6t is a daily driver and my LG G6 is my backup phone.

The LG hands down. All of the negative camera reviews must have been on early software because after a few updates this camera is on par with the best. In these controlled comparisons they seem to always beat the V40 with other cameras, but in the real world I've been able to beat or match just about every other phone in photo quality...not to mention I have more flexibility with different lenses and extensive manual modes. The bonus is the DAC and headphone jack on the V40, can't beat it!!! The battery life on this phone isn't bad at all either, it's not the best battery life but do you really need the best battery to have good battery life, I always finish the day with juice and I use my phone quite a bit. Yes the Mate 20 will probably last longer but does it really matter when the V40 lasts long enough? To sum it all up...V40 hands down.

@@RonSims216 I'll tell you why LG is trash. I was a loyal LG supporter. I had the LG g2 i skip the LG G3. I still got my old LG g4 till this day. I had the LG V10 and I had the LG v20. I currently have the LG G6 as my backup phone to my OnePlus 6t. Now out of all of those LG phones that are named that I had the only one that got a update was the LG G2 and when the LG G2 was released it was on jellybean 4.2.2 it got the lollipop update the only problem was the lollipop update messed up a lot of people's LG G2s the phone started having ghost touch issue the screen was just going crazy. I got the LG g4 like about a month after it came out the LG g4 was released with lollipop 5.1 and it said the phone was upgradeable to Android nougat 7.0 but the G4 didn't get one single update when I got it. When I got it, it was on lollipop and that's where stays on to this day. Then I got LGV10 January 2016 that phone was released with 5.0 llollipop it says it's upgradeable to 7.0 Nougat but that phone didn't get no update so when you bought the V10 the version of Android that it was on its stayed on. So I've been burnt to this point by LG 3 different times. In October 2016 I go out and get the LG V20 and they hyped up that it was the first phones to be on 7.0 nougat. That LGV20 didn't get Android 8.0 until around like August or September of 2018 and by then I had already got rid of that phone and got a LG G6 for cheap. The G6 is on 8.0 and I know that phone is not getting no update. So I've been with T-Mobile since 2013 and when I found out that T-Mobile was going to carrying the OnePlus 6t I was so ecstatic to finally have a phone and a company that supports their phones unlike LG. Samsung is pretty terrible with updates also but they're not as bad as LG. So I have my OnePlus 6t as my daily driver and my LG G6 as my backup phone that I use sometimes.

I would take the V40 over the Mate 20. While both are great phones, I like the V40's overall package better. I don't like curved displays (sorry Samsung), and I hate Huawei's proprietary expandable storage.
@2011Kestrel5 жыл бұрын
AljeanT The Huawei does have many better specs on paper, but for me the V40 is a better choice. I just like it better. For example, I hate curved displays - the curved edge reflects light no matter how I hold it, it's harder to put a case on a phone with one, the distortion on the perimeter bothers my eyes, and I've accidentally triggered things while holding a friend's S9+. I don't wish to buy any phone with a curved display, so the Huawei isn't for me. The Kirin 980 has a better cpu, the 845 has a better gpu. Gamers would probably prefer the snapdragon 845 for smoother running graphics. For me, I wouldn't see much of a performance difference between the two - I just don't push my phone that hard. Since I don't push my phone hard, I've also never had an issue with battery life. While the Huawei could last me for a couple of days, so long as a phone lasts me a day, I'm good. As for faster charging - how fast do you personally need? I top up my phone at night while I sleep, or while travelling in the car. Thirty minutes more or less doesn't matter much to me. LG does suck with updates, but then again most of the other OEM's do too. Only Apple has had good, regular and long term updates. My iPhone 4S was supported with updates for over five years. Not even Google, the keeper of Android, is offering that level of longevity. I do love Huawei's in display fingerprint reader, but I'll take the faster and more accurate one on the back of phones until the tech matures a bit more. And hands down the Huawei is the way better looking phone, although aesthetically speaking I prefer the way the V40's cameras are laid out more. Like I said, both are great phones, I just prefer the V40.
@2011Kestrel5 жыл бұрын
AljeanT I prefer the fingerprint scanner in day to day use, so facial unlock isn't a priority feature for me (sorry Apple). But I do like having facial unlock available for when I have gloves on - it's a bit cold in Canada right now - so I'll take it if I can get it. Fast charging is great for a quick top-up, but I also carry a power pack in my kit so I can still charge while I'm on the go. I'm not crazy about either phones' speaker setup - I prefer dual forward facing speakers like on the Razer phone. I don't like Huawei's decision to bury the bottom speaker in the USB port, but I'm sure they had a reason for it. Headphone jack...meh, I prefer Bluetooth headphones. But I would rather have have a headphone jack and not need it than need one and not have it. Honestly though, the only deal breaker about the Huawei for me is the display (I think I've made my dislike of curved displays clear) and the proprietary storage expansion. Other than that, I think the phone is fantastic. Still, I would have gone for the V40 - lets just say there is less that I don't like about the phone. I was really looking forward to its release, but unfortunately LG decided not to release it in Canada, and the cost of importing it from the US made it economically unfeasible. Ironically, the Mate 20 Pro IS available here but not in the US. Still, the idea of spending $1000+ on ANY phone makes me pause. OnePlus and Xiaomi are starting to look better and better. 😀

I think the only problem lg has, which is big, is their slow, slow update and upgrade processes. Besides that Lg checks all the boxes, display, sound, good camera. I would like to see a slight improvement on the low light camera. Huawei is very good, but their emui is very rigid and too applelike. Another thing I would say is the sound coming from the usb-c port. I think that was a bad decision. I use T-Mobile I'm not sure they support band 71 and don't know if they will be able to activate is via Ota because of the trade war issue.

lg v40 doesnt have pixel binning like g7-Alex from Android Central
@harysviewty5 жыл бұрын
It still has pixel binning But it's not anymore 2x2 4in1 1==>2 micron pixel size This one has 1.4 micron pixelsize, to get 2micron number it only needs 2x1 2in1 1.4==>2 micron binning, with half resolution result (6mp) LG did multiple exposure to interpolate full 12mp result

I like the Mate but the lack of Gcam for the Huawei is kinda a deal breaker.. V40 for me.
