Roughly a month ago I bought OP3T and I've been using it to browse the web/watch KZbin videos/posts some stuffs on Facebook/check Gmail during the day (At night I usually am at home so I use my computer instead of phone). Since the display is not as bright as I hoped it's always set to the maximum brightness. And guess what, I can already see some burn-in on the navigation bar and the action bar, which is such a shame. I've been using phones with IPS display for years including Huawei P9 but I never got a defective display containing dead pixels. >Wow, the mic is better, thats all Pixel is one of the best point-and-shoot cameraphone you can buy, and while it indeed beats Mate 9 when shooting in Auto, its severe lack of features keeps it away from being the most versatile one. For example: Manual mode? No. Usable bokeh mode? No. Dedicated monochrome picture? No. Night Mode? No. Lossless zoom? No. Burst shooting while maintaining high picture quality? No(burst mode disables the HDR+ processing which drastically reduces the picture quality especially under low-light conditions) None of them are available on Pixel. While Pixel produces a picture with excellent quality, Mate 9 has a tons of usable feature to match.

It does match, or even surpass in some situations. Pixel's camera has excellent picture quality but pretty much anything else. Mate 9's picture quality is not up to the Pixel's level but those features are not gimmicky (especially the lossless zoom, manual control and Wide Aperture mode) and pretty useful to take some great looking photos. >And what are you doing that you always have yout screen brightness at 100%????? Umm, walking outside? Duh? I use my business laptop when I'm in the office, so pretty much every time I use my phone I'm outside. There are a few occasions that I need to get on a bus/ catch a train, though.

Coming from a Nexus 6P to a Mate 9. Once the Pixel was shown the look was not doing it for me. The huge chin and ugly bezels. Plus you can hardly find a Pixel XL if you wanted one. Terrible inventory management by Google yet again. Also, vanilla Android while being nice the EMUI skin actually looks like it has useful features and looks clean and crisp. Huawei also makes a great device. I've also realized that when you get the latest Android updates you also get the bugs with it. They sent out several bets versions of Nougat and there are still Bluetooth and other issues. Sure, technology will always have issues but if you go with a phone like the Mate 9 Huawei will go through the Android version first to make sure it works on their device. No need to spend $800 any longer to pay for the Coca Cola name. It shows you how much Apple and Samsung mark up their devices. The reviewer is saying that the camera on the Mate 9 is not that good. The camera has many software features and settings that he probably hasn't tried.

We are told that stock android is the bee's knee's. In the past heavy skins were an issue, but now with more powerful processors it's a non-issue. When I go back and forth between my stock and "skinned" phones; I always end up missing the features in the skinned version of android. IDC what anyone says, the Mate 9 is a king, battery life is decent, it has cool built in features like the scrolling screenshot, screen recording with audio, directional audio recording, great speakers and even better cameras, I had a HTC 10 and Nexus 6P and thought going back to a 1080p display would be a downgrade but NOPE! I'm more than satisfied and I have OCD when it comes to clarity in both wallpapers and a phones display so if anyone is thinking of getting a Mate 9, get it. I liked Stock Android when I had the 6P but when I saw the design and price of the Pixel XL I steered clear then I waited months to see what Sony would come out with and then I hesitated on the LG V20 and that's when the Mate 9 took over.

Rolly the pixel is water resistant, meaning that you can use it in the rain. I did so myself with no problems. If you're like most people and DON'T use your phone in the shower, the Pixel's lack of waterproofing is not an issue.

It also has EMUI which is awesome. I have to charge my phone every three days with a 3600 mah battery in the Honor 5X. The Pixel just looks like a toy. The Mate 9's storage can be expanded up to 256gb, something the pixel cant even touch. Not to mention dual quad core processors. My vote goes for the Mate 9, the pixel is just too expensive.

When looking for a replacement phone for my 6P (which I gave to my son, whose M8 was starting to have issues) I considered the XL, but felt that, considering what the phone did not offer that current flagships did offer - in some combination - for example IP67/68, dual front-facing speakers, expandable storage, wireless charging, Google had overpriced the phone by $150 or so. I bought the Axon 7 and have been pleased with the decision. So, I would be inclined to buy the Mate 9

great video man. I ordered my 32gb pixel xl through verizon back in mid December and Verizon just notified me yesterday that it's not even going to ship until mid February. I love google...but damn they should've def handled this inventory/shipping ordeal alot better than they are now. I get it...they didn't anticipate selling as many devices as they did...but they are a multi billion dollar company that I feel could handle this situation alot better but refuse to because they are probably already focusing on the pixel 2 lol. What are the chances of Huawei fixing the issue with the reading of notifications on the locked screen with the next update? I love that feature on my HTC and it would be difficult to live without. How often do they release new updates? I am looking at this phone almost purely because (and I love HTC, I have had 3) my carrier is not stocking the Pixel and they are the Mate 9 and the M10 has had a few lackluster reviews which is very disappointing. Maybe I hold out a little longer once the change has been made. I am really baffled how manufacturers pack so many good things in to one device but manage to drop the ball with the simplest of things (Im not referring to the locked screen thing..well, not entirely.)

you made my decision for me bro, I've been talking and back and forth on whether I should get this phone or not this video made up my decision for me comparing it to the pixel XL because my main issue was the waterproofing because now I have the Galaxy S7 Edge so I kind of become accustomed to being waterproof but I can also prevent most things by keeping in mind that it's not waterproof and the $600 price tag makes it easier to replace even though I will get insurance on it. nice video

The Mate 9 is a good example of why 1440p doesn't always matter (aside from VR). I have two co-workers that own Pixel XLs and when I showed them the Mate 9 display they thought it was qHD. No video or screenshot does the display any justice. Best 1080p display I've ever seen on a smartphone.

Loved my mate 9 but after 3 months i just traded it in for a pixel XL (the XL's prices are getting pretty decent). The main turnoff was the mate 9 camera. I really loved my nexus 6p's camera, and the mate 9 felt like a step back. Especially the night time photography was very poor, unless you have the phone on a tripod. The mate 9 is fantastic though, if you can forgive it its weak camera and EMUI skin.

Why do so many people buy into paying more for fewer features? Any app or skin can be removed. The Mate 9 is the clear winner here. How are those low light picture with the Pixel? Can you say "lens flare"?

I mean the dual camera capabilities give it the edge over Pixel camera. Lens blur FTW. My brothers iPhone 7 does that lens blur stuff so good it looks like a JC Penny shoot. Mate 9 takes it to another level.

To hell with that Pixel, i just picked up a Mate 9 yesterday and love the phone. Huawei did really good job with this. The expandable memory was also a plus for me.
