I just 'downgraded' from a Pixel 8 to a refurbished P5. I understand that it might seem like a weird switch but I'm actually pretty happy with it. I like the fingerprint sensor, the compact size, and how minimal the camera bump is. Obviously when it comes to cameras, the 8 does better with stuff like low light, zooming, and video quality. But if I'm honest I prefer the way images come out of the Pixel 5's camera. I think that's mainly because of the color science. Overall, I think it still holds up really well in 2024 but there are definitely better phones you can buy.

It's kind of weird that Pixel 5A will get one more year of additional update compared to Pixel 5 which is a flagship phone but with the same processor and lesser RAM is getting another year of update compared to a flagship phone. Only Google can do this.
@MeepWasTakenАй бұрын
I'm assuming it has to do with the fact that the A-series pixels usually release a few months after the regular pixels. But yeah it is a little stupid because we all know the Pixel 5 can handle more updates.

pixel 5a isnt getting android 15. they are also done at 14. maybe security updates at best.

It's based on release date. Pretty much all the a version get an extra year of update because they tend to be released a year after the regluar pixel line.

I came from Pixel 4 to Pixel 5 The major differences Pixel 5 gets hot or warm easily when I'm doing navigation in the car or using outside under the sun compared to Pixel 4. Secondly is the haptics on the pixel 4 where far superior compared to Pixel 5 it feels mushy. Pixel 5 actually has much better battery life compared to Pixel 4 because of the increase battery size and mid-range specs because Pixel 4 used to routinely die in the mid-afternoon at least this phone lasts whole day. And the reason Google went with the earphone behind the glass, they wanted to have a symmetrical bezel all around. Which they also achieved in Pixel 9 as well but still they gave a proper earphone speaker.

Moved from pixel 3a xl to pixel 5, one thing i love from this phone is the size, sure, watching movies and videos can be unsatisfying for some people. The speaker is actually not bad, it's loud enough to not notice the quality of the front screen speaker. I think it would be one of the best of small size phones everyone could get if they brought better chip for this phone.

I love it. Small form factor and matt finish. A smart phone that wasn't trying to copy Apple.

It’s the RAM that has me really attracted to this phone.

lol.. every time I hear “optimisation” and “Google” in the same sentence, I chuckle. This idea is why I once bought nexus 4. Most regrettable decision.

Since Pixel 3 Google has opted for a flicker sensor. Never really understood the use case for it and Google also never advertised or mentioned in their forums or anywhere what is the purpose and what is the benefit of using that sensor does it help in photography light level nothing is mentioned online It is weird.

Is the Pixel 5a bricking an issue with poor soldering getting loose with thermal stress or non optimized flash memory firmware that cause spontaneous storage crash? Still unresolved to this day?
@RealWorldReviewАй бұрын
It's possible, but I've heard cases where the nand fails. I don't know the fix, I just know that if you search a product and the search results are almost all negative, stay away

@@RealWorldReview If they sell these 5a bricked for cheap it would be interesting to try to fix one.

Google phones are not sold locally in my country I purchased Pixel 5 from one of the local shops here which was imported from US. I got it for around $90 for used phone The only caveat being the battery is capacity when I checked through the app it says 62%. The shopkeeper said he can change the battery and install a first party battery just from China It will cost around $10 do you think it's worth the investment.

I've been using the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL and it makes me want to buy the Pixel 9 Pro. The Palm Phone size is an exaggeration, the iPhone mini is good, but I really don't get why companies give up with small flagships, but will be fine with the large expensive but not the best (iPhone 15 Plus and S24 Plus's of the world) continue to tank sales. Still hoping for a Zenfone 11 in the normal "compact size"
