The Kirin and Ascend chips are produced locally in China by SMIC or so they claim because TSMC wouldn't supply the 7nm backwater chips problem is that the 7nm technology vs the current 3nm is old and the machines that are required are no longer supported by ASML so the sanctioned ASML machines will be without repair when they fail... and with them will also end the production for Huawei...

I love how Chinese likes to use Japanese words instead of their own just to make their products sound more cooler to customers. Instead of using Chinese Qilin they prefer the Japanese version Kirin. It's like Miniso all over again. Funny thing is Qilin is the original term before it became Kirin and yet the Chinese company don't want to use it. I'm not going to make excuses for Huawei, but there is a well-known, across-the-board issue that's absolutely likely here.. Huawei's software engineers are just lazy, shitty coders. If a device LAGS straight out of the box, yes- it CAN be poor hardware, but more often than not just it's shitty, bloated, inefficient code running on it. EVERY version of Windows for the last 30 years has had the same problem at launch, because they cram too many new feeps noone needs or wants, and worthless graphical crap in to make it look pretty, instead of ensuring stability and reliability FIRST. Entire releases of Windows have died because of this problem, causing Microsoft to panic and backpedal scheduled end-of-support for the previous versions.. even Windows 11 now has been edging in that direction.. Do you even remember Windows 8? How about Windows ME?

Nope, The Kirin chips uses Arm V8 architecture and needed an Arm license to produce. If SMIC can manufacture them, they can copy/make without paying license fees to Arm ltd(UK company but part of the IP of arm is US owned). Since Huawei uses TSMC to manufacture them, huawei has to pay license fees, if not TSMC would not make them. Ie not legal to use a Taiwan manufacturer to counterfeit products. TSMC is global, huawei is China only. So TSMC can choose who it will do business with. They have more customer demand than capacity! Very rare in any business these days. It is due to their cutting edge fab process mode that is the best. Samsung is close but TSMC has greater capacity for multiple big customers eg, Apple, Qualcomm , AMD, Nvidia and even Intel!. Huawei is a small player in terms of volumes compared to these giants!.
