Huawei P30 Review in 2023 || Is This Still A Good Phone in 2023?

So I did a 2023 review on the Huawei P30 Pro, now it's the smaller siblings turn. The vanilla P30 is still a great looking phone, but it is worth buying in 2023?

Got mine in 2019. Still using it to this day. I haven't seen the need to upgrade to anything else as this does what I need, nor do I want to move away from it. Slight bit of unnoticeable screen burn, but being 4 years old I expect it. Highly recommend this phone still in 2023

Got my p30 on since may 2019, still handles everythings well, no lag no sudden restart or overheat. Battery life still good. playing demanding games like genshin no prob. Still didnt see the benefit to upgrade to the latest device yet the innovation nowadays feels more like a gimmick that you dont really need rather than big jump from 2019. My only problem is the storage, 128gb is really small for my files that has been piled up since 2019, maybe if it comes with 512gb i could use it for another 10 years😅

@@garnetklee9837 of course but In my country it was 5times more expensive than normal memory and only huawei that made this type memory so i guess i dont have a choice. The drawbacks is u cant install apps on this memory, u have to use ur 2nd sim card slot and its gets laggy when i used search on the phone maybe its because it was not integrated very well with the system but it was the best option that i can choose

Had my P30 in June '19. Still going strong. Only issue I'm getting is increased sensitivity on the thumb recognition. If I've put on moisturiser say, recently, then banking apps can be an issue, which will concern the next time I get overseas. I even cut around the film where the sensor is, but no difference.

I have just bought it last month, a second hand one! The best smartphone I have ever had! Powerfull, good battery which lasts two days without charging, beautiful pictures! Ans a nice looking screen

Using mine since it came out. Had p10 before this which i also used for 4 years and my cousing still uses it after 7 years 😅. These phone can last 10 years easy. I get 8 hour screen time with heavy use.

Emui 12 is based on Android 10 but it's actually quite new software,I know that's confusing. It's basically Huawei giving older phones a new lease of life ,which is to their credit as there's nothing in that for them. You're still getting security updates on some phones that are now 4 years old when before their decision those had stopped in 2019 and your Huawei P30 etc was thought to have had its last software update on Emui 10. Looks like they're reneged on their promise of Emui 12 for older Honor phones though which is a shame as I love my 8X which makes my Motorola feel as if it came out of a Christmas Cracker.

I bought the p30 when it came out, I dont play much, listen to some music and twitter. The split screen option I like, has use when I read an article for example and want to tweet about it. Google is still native on it, which I really like. Looking at the p60 pro for an upgrade but I think I still use it for at least a year.

Still using my P30 to this day. Bought it in the summer of 2019. I was thinking of getting the S23 because it has the same screen size as the p30 and aspect ratio, but I have a hard time letting go of my P30. I think I'll keep my P30 for another year and upgrade next year.

I need to replace my old Xiaomi and I look for a compact smartphone, but I'm not sure about this little fella mainly because of its age (I read the batteries go bad when lie in the storages for years) and lack of LED notification. So could one of the users tell me if it's worth it in 2024?

Had my P30 for 4 years, and only recently upgraded. I'm not seeing a big difference in performance between this and the Samsung A54 which I now have, other than the larger screen and IP57 rating which were the primary reasons for updating. However, I personally think this phone still holds its own quite well, which is why I searched for this review. All of the apps and games still run just fine, and it's a great back up phone to have when I'm low on juice. Looks beautiful too and feels good in the hand, with it's premium rear and sides. And so, so slim compared to the A54. Still a great phone.

Indestructible phone . Better quality than Apple iphone for sure . Dropped it many times , screen never broke . Always charges quick , bright screen , never let me down. Always works well in heat , cold or humid conditions.

Wireless charging is no issue if you can buy the official huawei wireless charging case for Huawei P30, bought mine in march 2020 and it's the best phone i own ever, i do experience stuttering and lag sometimes but its due to 10% storage remaining and dozen of app installed aside from stock app it came with

The wireless charging case doesn't have front protection i dropped it on the floor and the corner has 2 cracks still using with those cracks never used that case since it broke my screen

I needed a new one so bad I had a Samsung A8 for at least 4 to 5 years but it has been giving me issues the past both and I am really amazed that I did not ever through it agaisnt my concrete wall lol. But I had like 5 different phones in my cart i had a Samsung A21 and an iphone this one and a couple other ones but I couldn't decide which one to get so I got my 4 year old son to pick for me and he picked this one. Also I scored one for $150 so am happy about that

I also use the P30 since 2019 and I'm totally happy with it. I'm interested in a camera comparison with some actual phones f.e. Iphone 14, Pixel 7, S 23... I wouldn't wonder if the new Phones have a worse Photo Quality... 😊

Hardware wise the s23 has a almost identical camera setup (slightly lower ultra wide resolution, slightly higher telephoto) The main difference is Camera software. For example the s23 produces stronger HDR images

I had a redmi back in the day, also had a p10. Now here I am looking to replace my $1800 phone that was destroyed by dropping it 3' onto a lament floor. Found a p30 on kijji for $70. Currently going over reviews. Seems to be my best bet lol, i refuse to pay another cent on a new phone.

Just copped one of these off ebay in "new" condition. Seems like a class phone so far. Had pixel 4a before and 3a before that. Hoping this is an improvement as pixels gave me a number of issues such as the camera, everyone raves about pixel camera but I thought it was awful. Chinese now be listening in on me 🤣

I changed over to the P30 recently from an iPhone, it's been performing very well, haven't had a problem with it. Battery health is a minor issue for me, don't see why people are referencing it, yes the battery level goes down - but doesn't it do that on every smartphone?? If anything i'd say the P30 has actually out performed my iPhone, camera is excellent and browsing the internet on it is fantastic. It's a 6'1 inch screen which is a comfortable size to use one-handed, also fits in the pocket perfectly. I'd recommend it personally, zero issues for me.

Had mine since 2019. I agree. Still working as new. I am really struggling to find equivalent like for like replacement. LOVE size, premium look/feel, dual sim (or storage), headphone jack!, flat screen, camera although RYYB can produce yellow cast on low light shots but amazing what can capture. Not a gamer or heavy user and plenty battery at end of day. For the money a very nice phone

I've had the phone for two years and my on screen time is 7 hrs with videos, music for 2-3 hrs straight, texting and phone calls and I do not ever take my Bluetooth, data, and wifi off. When I'm gaming I go from 100% to 20% within 4-4.5 hours. I just got the galaxy s22 and THAT phone gives me some problems when it comes to the battery and over heating

It'll still work, but the security updates are for your protection when using banking apps and other sites that use sensitive information. So I'd consider it, even if you keep that phone for nostalgia 😂

If you connect to a PC with the right software and remove all the bloatware as I did the battery becomes epic. Best battery on a smartphone I've ever had.

The Xiaomi is newer so will be supported for longer and will have better battery life, but the P30 will have a better camera and probably better performance.

Cool phone to buy 2nd hand . The problem with this piece is mainly the battery health and battery status in general. Other than that, it is 💯 solid choice to get a flagship of 2/3 years of age if security update is not an issue, true gem

I agree! Battery has been fine for my use, I’m not a heavy user so was good enough! Really nice to use, very manageable size too and that glass and aluminium build is very premium. Excellent all rounder no complaints from me!
