2.0 Video SOLVES tool mounting problems and bearing separation problems!!!---- kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3zUiqeDmdGDj9E ---I USE Grade-8 Bolts for mounting now, and a Cv-Axle TRICK to keep the bearing in one piece during removal or even pull the bearing back together if it separated during the removal process. I use a 8lb sledge only on the tool now. Stubborn bearings always need backup options to remove. My Favorite is the HubShocker by far. I love this thing! Thanks man. I couldn't agree more! They are making everything so cheap. I think its planned obsolescence in some cases. Usually Japanese auto makers try to avoid that and use high quality parts. Bearings and steering and suspension components (other than shocks) should be make well enough to last the life of the vehicle. They can do it. They choose not to. 🤓🔧

If that came off so easy, it wasn't stuck there good enough. Most bearings wont come off with anything! You can try removal tool, prying screws, lump hammer, chisels, anything, and they wont come off. The only thing that helps is to take off the whole assembly and put it under a heavy press.
@EasyFixShaun2 жыл бұрын
I feel ya. I still love the the tool though. My attempt is always use the easy methods and progress to the more intrusive ones. Removing the knuckle and pressing "bolt-in" style bearings will work- i completely agree. It is also the most intrusive method and requires an alignment afterwards. This wasn't the worst removal in the video. But it was difficult. Subaru rear bearings are amongst the the most difficult models to remove. The explorer rears are probably the worst. The Hubshocker 2.0 video i made was a good demonstration on a massively stuck bearing if you want to see it. I do recommend it over this video. I also solved two issues with the tool 😀🔧

@@davidkuehne476 The tool sends a shock to through the bearing and breaks the weakest link. The weakest link is the rust bond holding the bearing in the knuckle.. Right on. I live in Michigan and it is very rusty also. There are a quite a few vehicles that are always a problem and I just grab this tool immediately. On others I use a hammer to remove like a typical bearing until I find out it is severely stuck, then I use the tool. I through bolt all vehicles now with grade 8 bolts. Anything is possible. I haven't seen it happen yet though. The only vehicles its not powerful enough for so far is some 2500's and rear ford explorer bearings 😀
@thepamechanic45403 жыл бұрын
Your title is a little off I have found a few front bearings on 2500 and 3500 trucks the hub shocker I've had for years failed to remove. It's the best tool by far for removal. The only tool that gets EVERTHING off is a torch. The 1/4" plate on the top of mine is about beat to 1/8" in places. But still performs way better than any other bearing tool I have found.
@EasyFixShaun3 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that. It is a tool of last resort at times. With a lot of corroded bearings it has been a life saver for me. There are some bearings it can not handle and heavy duty trucks are some and I have heard it will not remove the rear of a new explorer generation. I haven't had the chance to try the explorer. On heavy duty I usually use the hydraulic power steering and socket combo method to push on the mount bolts. I agree, the torch removes all wheel bearings! haha. Can create some other issues sometimes but is the ultimate remove "ANY" wheel bearing tool 🔧😃

I used the same tool on the rear of my Subaru forester, attached it snugly with OEM lug nuts, hammered it with all of my might with a 4lb hammer over 200 times and it didn't budge. My feeling is if this guy can remove his hub with a couple of taps from a ball peen hammer that he probably could have gotten it off some other way anyhow. This obviously works for some people but it is no magic solution to this age-old problem.
@EasyFixShaun2 жыл бұрын
I made a second video that solves all the problems I had with the tool. 1. I use 8lb sledge now. 2. I mount them with grade 8 bolts to secure. 3. I have a cv axle nut trick to keep the bearing in one piece if it starts to separate. You can even use it to pull it back together during the process. Sorry you had trouble. It isn't so much the tool that is the problem. It is Subaru's INSANE bearings. They stick beyond anything I have seen. @@EasyFixShaun I work at a used car dealership as a mechanic/tech and I live in Ohio so the rust belt. Sometimes hubs are a pain to get off. Although if u have the car on a lift up above and a 5 pound sledge it'll come off easy as you can stand under the car and smack the hub, turn a little and smack again. I seen a comment about messing up the knuckle. Never heard or seen it happen. The taper on the knuckle gets messed up over time anyways especially when suspension components start to wear and put more stress on the knuckle. I see lowes and home depot both sell the square hot rolled pipe. I'd assume 1/2" should be more then thick enough. The nice thing about making it yourself is that it should be able to fit any bolt pattern as you can drill additional holes. By the way, I have had a hub seized to the cv axle so bad that I had to put about 10 tons of pressure on it and pretty much melt the hub off of the cv in order for the press to release it. Of course I stood around the corner as it was heating with that much pressure applied 😂

@@EasyFixShaun I live in PA, so I have something of a clue with rust. It's the red-B R O W N reality of our "Salt Life" in the rust belt. lol. The first time I did rotors on the Impreza, I was hammering for 20 minutes on the one rotor and it just wouldn't budge so I consulted yee oldé youtubes to see if I was missing something as I only had GM's before. That's when I picked up the bolt trick from one of the "Subaru" Technician channels. Thankfully, I have yet to experience P-brake shoe separation. It may help that only use a ratchet and walk the rotor off slowly, but I can't really say for sure as I haven't tried it on any other vehicle. As a side note, I'm slow in general, hence why I never became a professional mechanic. lol. I'm still on the oem parking shoes with 235k+ miles on my '15 Impreza hatch and I have gone through four sets of brakes thus far. That may be because I typically do rotor and pads together regardless of disc life so there hasn't been time for serious wear to create a larger than specified lip. They last about 50k miles typically, which I easily cover in less than a year right now. However, the last set I got 80k with a bit of life left. I used Raybestos Element3 Hybrid pads and plain centric rotors. In any case, I'll be sure to keep that in mind when I start driving less than I do now! In my experience fresh pads on old rotors (or drums), even with a trip to the machine shop and a proper break in, end up in warping "great" pedal about half way through pad life. Being a bit of a science/engineering nerd, I know that warping is caused by heat/stress cycling and has literally changed the alignment of the metal crystals. So I don't trust them for longevity after they warp, especially since I do rideshare work. I'll be due soon for bearings all around (again) myself and will be looking into this tool. It makes economic and time sense between taking the spindles off, taking them to the machine shop, and taking the car in for an alignment afterwards. Ii want to thank you for taking the time to respond and providing me with new to me information. I REALLY do appreciate it. AlsoI really enjoyed both videos. I hope you had a great holiday and wish you and yours a happy and bountiful New Year!
