I learned a lot from Steve’s meandering through the yard and watched his going through those old parts of history. I saw my old Ford Maverick wheels, my first car, 69’ Olds Cutlass’s convertible rims ( 10:04 )and even a set of Mercury Comet wheels from the ‘70’s. Great memories and a great flashback to a better time in motoring. Keep up the good work Steve, will miss this “step back in time”, but onward and upward. 👍🇨🇦

I really enjoyed this series so much more than I thought I would. Those were the “rims” / “bling bling” back in the days. You really brought my appreciation of the manufacturing and design process of these “simple wheel covers”. I always poo pooed them. I really learned a lot and would love to see videos of them being made. I collect everything car related, I have my own junk yard lol. I look at my small collection of hubcaps that I found over the years differently. Thank you Steve and Shane. I can’t wait to see the next game you come up with!

I want to say that Oldsmobile cover mirrored those found on the pea green ‘69 Delta 88 that was handed down to me by my parents as my first car! In my mind, the auto manufacturers took all the folks who HAD been designing wheel covers and transferred them into the “Cupholder Design Department” since the former started phasing out right about the time the latter was kicking into high gear…….😂

That series made me appreciate the design effort that went into hubcaps and wheel covers back then. Especially when by tweaking the “flair” that was attached to drastically change their appearance. My favorite is the 1966 Dodge Charger full wheel cover. Maybe because I saw the on the chrome tree on the 1/25 scale Charger my older brother built. And the ‘66 Caprice cover looks like it could be converted into a Bundt cake pan in an emergency. Nothing can beat a set of American Racing Torque Thrust mags - or a good set of chrome reverse wheels, depending on the application imho. But some of these hubcaps are downright inspired!

Hi Steve, it was a great run 25 wonderful Hudcap games! Despite my pain, I felt not the regret of an ending, but the foreboding of a beginning. There's a trick to the 'graceful exit.' It begins with the vision to recognize when a job, a life stage, or a relationship is over--and let it go. It means leaving what's over without denying its validity or its past importance to our lives. It involves a sense of future, a belief that every exit line is an entry, that we are moving up, rather than out. Well, I'm on the rd again off to a show tonight in Charlottesville, VA. Have a blessed day, everyone🤙🏼Namaste 🙏🏼

On the Dodge hub cap, I'm sure that was a full size Dodge pickup, I had an 88 Dakota 4X4 and it didn't use locking hubs, it was vacuum operated, on the passenger side if the axle it had a locking mechanism when shifted into 4 wheel drive, vacuum operated shifter would move a splined hub, it would lock a drive shaft to the passenger side and on the driver side it was a solid connection when shifted into 4 wheel drive a mechanical shift in the transfer case would also engage the front drive shaft. Mine had aluminum wheels

I'm glad the van is empty and not that you stopped doing it because people don't like it. The hubcap game isn't really my thing, but it's your channel, you're the boss. LOL. Yup, that first one came from an "Almost a Car" and "All Make Combined" Concord based Eagle. Yes, they were popular, but the rust ate them alive, and they faded pretty quickly. Correct, the "SS" was an appearance package, and could be had on a six-cylinder equipped vehicle. That looks like a circa 1980-1981 Buick Skylark cover. The Skyhawk would debut again in the 1982 model year as Buick's "J" car offering. Prior to that point up to 1980, it was a rear body "H" body car. My grandparents had an '82 Skyhawk that was a loaded model and was a trade-in at the Cadillac dealership that my dad worked at. They had it a few years, I did some repair to it, and they sold it for the 1989 Cavalier that they bought new (which I eventually wound up with. It was my first commuter car in the early 2000's. I still have it, but it's been "retired" at my other property for a number of years now). Prior to that, my '84 Delta 88 was my commuter car. (I still have it, also "retired" at the same location). That was a good pun at the end, quite witty. You were a good "wheel" man while it lasted. LOL.
