Tyre wear due to under inflation, made worse by the heavy front end and understeer. Check the upper engine mount shown here. Rubber looks as if it is breaking down. Some cleaning and anti rust spray wax also a good idea around that mount.

@richardhoneybun5509 over inflation usually results in excessive wear on the centre of the tread face and the shoulders show quite a bit less wear. There are other factors of course.

Your new oxygen sensor was working well on your diagnostic readout. That tells me your fuel injection system is controling the mixture perfectly at idle. You could do the same test at a fixed engine speed, say 2500 rpm. You are looking for the sensor output to change between approximately 0.2v to 0.8v in a rythmic fashion (just like it was in your idle speed test). If it remains at 0.8v the mixture is too rich (maybe fuel pressure too high) and if it remains at 0.2v the mixture is lean (maybe inlet manifold air leak, or low fuel pressure). I hope that helps you with your diagnosis.

We had an O2 sensor problem with our MY'03 Fiësta - it is due to crappy fuel. I put some decent fule (0% bio-ethanol) in, some cleaner (Wynns) and a liter of ASPEN-4stroke. That Aspen is fuel for equipment (which stands over time sometimes). It fixed the problem and so far hasn't come back. The problem is the crappy bio-fuel will foul your sensor over time. And yes modern cars are a bee-atch to work on, I think even the classic Mini is better. as tires go, I have good experience with Vredestein Comtrac 2 (Dutch premium brand) for all-season/rain/snow (they are under my Transit Custom van and last for 70.000km and that thing has 200HP). Really good and very QUIET too. I think you'll want some of those under the Berlingo.

Nice one Ian, hopefully the genuine )2 sensor will settle down as the ECU calibrates the E2E system during general running. Welcome back Bella! Great to see her in better health. I have to agree that pulley change would be a challenge to many and I would have probably paid someone who was recommended to do the job. Gone are the days when I could spend hours over an engine bay. She sounds good so fingers crossed Bella is feeling in much better. Thanks for sharing.

I suspect under inflation of tyres as both shoulders have gone. My last Peugeot 306 had the 2.0 litre HDI engine and the crankshaft pulley disintegrated spectacularly on it. I was lucky to limp onto the garage forecourt of the local Rover dealer who were very good at accommodating me when the job needed doing there and then. Ian, I would get Bella on a ramp, and just put a lever / bar on the lower arm bushes, to make sure there is no play or degradation in them. Cheaper than a new set of tyres that would get chewed up if these bushes had gone soft.

My understanding nowadays is that if fitting replacement oxygen sensors, MAF sensors or the like, it saves time and hassle and eventually money to just fit genuine items or good used genuine items rather then third party compatible parts. Also until a few years ago I’d use eBay or other marketplaces to buy cheap parts, but now I have learned that a good trusted motor factor or automotive parts shop is often cheaper and more reliable at supplying the correct parts.

Always worth checking the airflow sensor when you get O2 sensor errors. If it isn't accurately metering the intake airflow then it can't accurately calculate that the exhaust is correct. I've had good results pulling the things off and flooding a load of solvent cleaner through to get the dirt off the hot wire in that plenum.
@jfv6511 ай бұрын
Also: check the engine temp sensor (probably somewhere on the side of the head). if it reads wrong/too low the ECU thinks the engihe is still cold and it will demand cold start mixture. Which in turn will cause the check engine light to come on.

P0130 is usually a wholesale failure of the sensor. Freeze frame data for the code should give it's measured value when the code was set. If you're looking to monitor the sensor's health, Mode $06 data will list the various tests the ECM performs, the upper and lower limits, and the results of the last test. You can see if the sensor is working properly per the ECM long before a code, or even a pending code is set.

Lucky with the O2 sensor threads then! I regularly have fun getting NOx sensors out of relatively new Mercs, last one was about a 2014 S-Class & the threads pulled out. Had to take the exhaust off to get a clear run at it and then re-tap what was left into a useable thread. The joys, especially when the sensors are around £450 each and theres a pair 😱 M20x1.5 tap I believe. Is Bella's throttle cable/potentiometer assembly loose or is that where it's supposed to sit? The first bit where you showed the live data, this seemed to be the case, the second bit, the no2 o2 sensor was bouncing around. It shouldn’t do this.

I totally understand the emotional attachment to a car, but at the same time you need to be able to know when to let go. At this point it almost seems not too dissimilar to the kind of toxic attachment people get when they're in abusive relationships. This car is going to continue to give problems.
