"Bad Is Bad" was originally written by Huey Lewis in 1977 while doing session work for Thin Lizzy and its lead singer/bassist Phil Lynott, who in turn fell in love with the song so much that Lynott himself performed the track at some of his live shows at a faster pace. Two years later, Dave Edmunds recorded a version of this song, with Lewis on harmonica, for his album Repeat When Necessary.

My first Labrador (1993-2007) LOVED this song. As soon as he heard the beginning notes and didududidowops, his head would go up. He had several places he would join in, but that finale!! Man, he’d throw his head back and sing for all he was worth. He didn’t do it on any other song, with or without harmonicas. Just THIS song. Wish I’d had easy video then to capture him singing. I'm here because my dad just off-handedly mentioned this song when we were talking on the phone earlier this evening - he and my mum just attended a Huey Lewis concert a few days ago. He thought the lyrics were really clever and asked me if I knew this song. "I don't recognize the title," I said. Anyway, I looked it up, and yes, of course I know it! My parents had Huey Lewis on cassette back when I was a kid. I don't think I've heard this song since I was seven or eight (I'm 32 now), but I recognized it immediately just from the opening. I feel like I've just been reunited with an old friend.

Definitely! I was born in 1964, but the 80s were the best decade in my book. So much good music, movies etc. Fashion was a bit out there (although diverse, and fun), and hair was HUGE, but I would go "Back in Time" any day.

I’m listening to this still in 2022. I just turned 40yrs old and every time I hear this it bring me back to when I was prob like 7-8yrs old riding in my dads old 280 Z that was manual trans and u could pull the key out while it was running cuz it was stripped… I thought it was the coolest car ever! Lol… So I’d break his tape case pop this tape in and we’d sing, but when the harmonica part came I’d grab the wheel and steer while my pops held his hand up to his lips acting like he was playing that part….. Priceless

Love that funky song, love how Huey and the News can play off those old blues standards. Also to insert a bit of social commentary, San Fransico seemed like a much more interesting place in 1983, yeah it was gritty, a bit seedy, but it was an affordable town where people on a modest income could live. Now days this city is right up there with Manhattan in terms of the have's and the have's nots(those in the government projects that haven't been forced out, just not yet).

it was definitely different back in the 70's and 80's, but still an awesome city. I miss it. But as far as being affordable LMAO, San Francisco?? not in my lifetime. I grew up about 50 miles east of the city, out in the delta back when there were orchards and cattle ranches. (all gone now, buried under houses) we used to love going over to the city but as much as i liked it, i never wanted to live there.
