Hug It Out Monday!

Everything started off great, but Nick's emotions were all over the place today. He loves staying home, but he doesn't seem to like homeschool with Dad very much either. We had some great moments, a few rough moments and a few hugs. It is still a work in progress, but we'll get it right.

Loved this video! What a wonderful Dad you are. I grew up in the 50's and 60's when it was common for Dad's to be more hands up. I don't ever remember getting a hug. It was normal for me. I wasn't traumatized. That's just the way it was. But I love seeing Dad's like you who snuggle and hug and kiss and sing and love hanging out with your kids!!! I wonder how I would be different. My heart broke when you said you realized no one knew Nick. Well, thousands of people know him and love him now!!! A little late but hope it helps! Keep being the best.

It just felt so overwhelmingly sad to me that people didn't know him. They only heard about him as John and Shannon's autistic son. But he was hardly ever seen. He didn't go to his home school at the time and he didn't have any friends so it was only us. That seems to be changing and I'm very thankful. Maybe the whole world will know his name soon.🙂

Seems like Nicky was a lot more receptive after the calendar was changed to home school rather than it saying no school. I’m so glad it helped. I kept wondering if maybe he was unsure why it wasn’t as relaxed as a regular weekend.

I’m having a rough day. I don’t know if I mentioned it here or not but I lost my dad to cancer last month right before all this craziness started. Over all I’d have to say I’m doing pretty well considering the circumstances but grief is a rough thing I’m finding out. I’m ok though.

I love hearing Nicky talk it makes me think if that would be how my son’s voice might sound like because Andrew is non verbal and I have never heard him say anything apart from noises. He is 22 years old. I noticed that the dogs are very protective of Nicky have you trained them to be like that with him? I trained our dog to help Andrew when is has a meltdown which helps him. 👍🏻😁🧩💙
