Blimey O'Riley, what a find, I'd give my right arm for one of those Rileys. That mesh roof is factory and would have been covered in wadding and vinyl.

I think it might be a sad end for most of those cars. The cost to restore is way above their value and the men who would restore them for love and nostalgia are unfortunately passing away. If only they hadn't been hoarded. Top vid as always, thanks.

I look so forward to another year of your adventures and awesome finds. In the intro you touched a car with your palm. That shows how much passion and compassion you have for these wonderful old automobiles.

Yes those Riley roofs were very difficult to replace. There was an ash frame which was covered in the perforated steel as you see there. Then hessian was added and something called Everflex Rexine. As you say i expect the original owner passed away and whoever owns it all now not that intesested. Thanks for showing it all to us.

Hi just got here and don't know if anyone has answered your request to identify some of the cars you asked for: there are dozens of Riley RM series they were made late 40's early 50's. They had one of the forerunners of the 'vinyl roof' not vinyl exactly though. So the lattice frame was probably what it was fixed to. The white Austin is a Somerset A40 and is circa mid 50's. The first ones you showed inside are Austin's circa late 30's. Can't help but be amazed at the amount of Riley RM series inside. The one held together with cables is a Riley Kestrel ( very rare ). Keep up the reports. Well done.

Hi Bearded Explorer, I wish you a happy new year and all the best for the future. Your videos are always exciting, please keep it up! It is very painful that such beautiful cars are rotting away. Imagine you have a huge factory hall with all the classic cars you have found so far. You were a mega rich man. To the Riley with the perforated metal roof. I once knew a Dutch guy (in Tilburg) who was restoring a '40s Riley with a twin-cam engine. The roof looked exactly the same! I wondered why he had welded it shut with the perforated sheet metal like that. Apparently it was made that way at the factory (perhaps because the leather/vinyl roof sticks better?). Thanks! cheers Klaus from Düsseldorf
