The incident in Baltimore -- and the one in New York -- serve as reminders for bridge officials nationwide to be on alert.

3 different ships in only 2 weeks... This is definitely not making me want to go on any bridge. And the fact that the ships all lost power JUST before hitting a bridge each time is also making me curious whether or not this is by mistake.

This happens daily....now because of the accident the media has a new boogeyman to pump up viewers. Same thing happened with the train derailment even though we have hundreds of derailments a year.

Its 3 ships now, First the Baltimore one, then the Oklahoma one a week later, and now this one. It's got me questioning whether this is coincidence or not 🤔

It’s time for all these bridges to have new safety features near the supports at the bottom.

You're right they need to fortify these older bridges the ships are much larger than they were when these Bridges were constructed. Does the Verrazano have any. I'm just 12 blocks away from this bridge

These ships don't even have computer controlled start/stop, let alone network connectivity. This is not a coincidence, but it is not an outlandish conspiracy either. Companies just can not be bothered to pay for maintenance on these ships and the fleets are getting older.

You cant be this dense, you just cant be. The tech for controlling ships has been around for 2 decades. Planes and commercial airliners have had the tech since the 80's. The tech for ships is so solid they have been pushing for fully autonomous ships for the last 8 years, and thats not new ships thats existing ships in use today. Do you live under a rock? Were just released from prison serving a 30 year sentence? How do you not know this? Google search and try to catch up to todays world champ sheesh

@@1realtruthrightnow742 Worked in the maritime industry (navy) for 7 years. No, you cannot "hack" a container ship the way you can hack a phone or computer. So stop with the crazy conspiracy theories lmao. It's called companies not wanting to conduct maintenance on older vessels and the statistical probability of this happening due to the increase in the volume of goods moved via container ships.

2 boats have hit a bridge in the past 2 weeks, and now this happens. First, it was Baltimore. Then, the Pklahoma collision a week later. And now, we had this near-miss. If one more boat powers down this month, (and near a bridge,) then you have a likely chance you're right.

FYI - The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge connects the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn (Kings County) and Staten Island (Richmond County). 👌 BTW - The spelling on that sign is an older sign. It has been corrected and now reads, ”Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge”.

SWITCHING FUELS IN TERRITORIAL WATERS IS FORBIDDEN. ONLY WHEN THE SHIP ENTERS INTERNATIONAL WATERS ARE THEY ALLOWED TO USE THE CHEAPER HEAVY BALLAST BUNKERING FUEL THAT BURNS black as coal. Maybe The Coast Guard should be on board monitoring ships activities till they reach international waters.
