The constant changes are part of why I quit SOD, I liked a lot of the big changes like new abilities and new content that they made, it was the ad-hoc weekly sorts of changes and balance changes that really killed my enthusiasm for the game.

Gold sink is highly needed and part of why things don't get TOO inflated. GDKP being banned is a big help to that as-well. So when you spend a massive amount of gold and feel like you wasted it just be like, its for the greater good.

Why is Dual Spec considered such a bad change? PvE / PvP Spec. Single Target / AoE Farming Spec. Healers can spec as Tank or DPS now. People are even more obligated to play healer now that they're not restricted to leveling as a straight healer in order to avoid the costly respec. I just don't see how it could "snowball" out of control.

Sure people can hearth, respec, then get summoned back, but I think the time lost doing that is enough of a deterrent.

Pre 40 leveling disc/holy mix is actually more efficient. Afterwards the difference is minimal. Smite and holy fire have better sp coefficients than shadow spells.

Anyone who thinks the buff change is a bad thing has never played a non paladin healer. Priests and druids were usually forbidden to use renew, pws, (T2 Gheal proc), rejuv or regrowth. Takes the most mana efficient heals in their toolkit and tells the player "no you can't use that because the warrior might lose a buff". This insult gets compounded because you are forced to rely on expensive dark runes just to play in a clumsy manner, making your consume costs WAY higher than a dps player. Now tack on respec costs to be able to farm and you get an understanding of why there are always so few healers. Dual spec + removing buff caps = insane quality of life improvement for priest, druids and tanks

Dual Spec = Game is playable. After SoD I simply cannot play without dual spec. Either I get to tank, or I get to play the game.... I just don't do enough "DIRE MAUL JUMP RUNS" *wink wink* to be able to afford spending 100 gold a week between specs, and that's only one character. I think that going back to town to switch spec makes sense and is a good compromise. No matter where you are in the game it would almost always be faster to hearth and respec than it would be to "LF1M Tank or Healer for Scholo on 3rd boss"

No debuff/buff limit is the biggest problem imo. Not only do players have to play their character differently but they also have to compensate for it by buffing boss hp etc which makes the game going in sod/som direction.

That's not a good argument, so what if it's easier. It's better to have 8 different dps specs feel good to play than to be stuck in the stupid warrior meta and forcing players to play a specific way. My main was a feral OT that had full naxx gear and I was even given pieces of T3 for my healing spec but 100% refused to play a resto druid in raids because all I was "Allowed" to do was spam down ranked healing touch, Brez, innervate others and rebuff MOTW. Not being able to use regrowth or rejuv invalidated over half of my entire talent tree and i had probably 70% of my healing touch casts sniped by pallies spamming flash of light. Terrible experience but each raid need at least 1 resto for improve MOTW, innervate and brez

As a HUGE dual spec advocate, I actually agree here. For me it’s not the ability to change my spec outside of an instance or at a rested xp location. It’s the GOLD COST. Eliminate or vastly decrease the gold cost and that’s a fair change as well. It’s the fact that I have to swap my tank/healer spec out for a pvp spec but if I want to go back to pve, that’s 100g. That’s a lot for me as a classic player that just wants to play the game a certain way.

With the buff debuff thing, will this make class specs and classes such as moonkins, hunters, ret paladins enh shamans be alot better? or will they still be meme specs? Knowing that curses etc can be used on lock they should naturally be better? id assume moonkin would have more abilities to use that may passively fix mana issues naturally because of the rotation? Id assume this would organically happen with hunters aswell? I'm super worried about the debuff / buff limit being removed. It's nice that we get to see a bit more of a variety within raid compositions because of this change, but I hope there's a little bit of a buff towards boss HP in order to accommodate for the extra damage from stackable DoTs.

I dream that in anticipation of these changes, they acknowledge that it by default makes the game easier(Now no one will be tanking/healing/dps in a leveling/pvp spec, and we will be doing more damage to raid bosses due to no cap on DoTs/debuffs), and they make adjustments to the world difficulty in response. 5% flat damage buff to all PVE NPCs, 3% Movement speed increase to all PVE NPCs. Would never happen, but I can dream.

DoT's critting in vanilla lol. That would break pvp. As if Shadowpriest and warlock arent S-tier alrdy in pvp. It wouldnt even help those classes in pve at all cause spriest is unfortunately to low on dps meters and no gear or talents give crit rlly. Lock does 90% of damage from shadowbolt

People who are against this are smoking crack. Although i do agree it may be best to have it only happen in capitol cities to prevent weird metas developing.

Home base HUBs like SW or ORG must remain viable and important if you want ppl to do alts and new players base to come in. If you keep moving the player base to other hubs like in TBC and MOP. the player base will feel split and they will start to leave.

I got stuck playing Holy Priest in classic. It was miserable having to pay $100 multiple times a week if I wanted to go Shadow and PVP. I had limited money making potential too, so sometimes I wouldn’t make enough gold to even justify the respec. So I just sat in a spec I didn’t want to play. At the very least, they should give Dual Spec to all healer classes just so they’re not stuck like that.

There is virtually 0 cons to dual spec . This “third party interaction” is so insanely small of a micro % of players feel . When I’m going to a trainer and respecing I might see a person or two but that doesn’t make me feel any better that I gotta run to the trainer and spend more gold because of an old aged system. And “gold sink” isn’t a good excuse either because there are players who don’t even respec so they don’t even interact with that “gold sink” there’s almost no real cons from any of these announced changes .

My dream is that maybe in 3 or 5 years from now I won't need to play Turtle WoW and play retail Classic + instead. Also dual spec means yes you will have more accessibility BUT, no longer you will remember your friend Jeff who was the fire mage or Ted who was the protection paladin, now everyone will be all specs and that will take that cool feeling away. I felt so special because I was THE feral druid back in 2019 classic, now everyone will be that.

im 100% the type of wow player that would play classic over and over again if they released fresh realms every 5 years. im down. i hope that these anniversary realms end up stopping at TBC and become permanent TBC era realms. then in few years they go fresh again and lock it as a Wrath era realm.

Can someone please explain what dual spec is? Is it 2 specs of the same class at the same time? Is it 2 specs from 2 different classes?

You get to make 2 specs and switch between them. So like you use all your points to make a healing spec, and then you use all your points again to make a raid spec. I am guessing that its as if you have a mobile trainer with you. With 1 click you just change your spec and then you move your new talents to the Action Bar and you are set. Lets call it a Mobile Trainer thats next to you and you dont have to go to town to change spec

As a healer I don't see a reason to leave the city or even log on unless I have people to play with. Why would I waste gold to repsec for and hour then change back EACH AND EVERYTIME I want to do something by myself? No I'll play different games. Friends want to do something then I'll log on and do it. Give me dual spec and it gives me more in my tool kit for what I can do. I don't see how DS isn't a win for the system and more importantly the players.

Dual spec will make pvp way more viable for the average player. Average players don’t have time to farm gold to spec back and forth for pvp. Also it makes raiding a lot more fun. Being an off tank in a raid is awful on fights that are solo tanked.
