If these changes stick in the final 10.0.5 (which I guess at this point is inevitable), anybody like myself who did all those old xpac grinds for socketed/crafted gear with +4 main stat gems and the BIS trinkets like RSP, sethak's, legion legos are pretty much all for nothing. Oof. RSP in particular is so useful for so many of the encounters. I had a feeling they were going to Detect Fun(tm) of the timewalking people and find a way to nullify it.

That sure would be great huh. I don't know or why any1 ever found this obnoxious and outright weird minmaxing fun. I did almost all the mage towers in legion, but fk that in SL. Glad they (hopefully) fixed this.

Uh, MAYBE Blizzard wants you to go in there and get it done with the completely normal gear you are already wearing. They dont design it specifically to have to farm Legion gear to get it done. Quite simply. This is not how its supposed to be. And it wont be when this goes live.

You are missing one big piece of information in the premisse of this video: As of DF release low level content is actually dropping higher ilvl, despite what the dungeon guide says it drops, but older items dropped before DF didnt scaled, as you showed in the video Try some runs in older raids and you should see how is ilvl working atm, most raids are dropping ilvl 115+, like black temple, Icecrown citadel, ruby sanctum, all cata raids, all pandaria raids, subsequent raids are dropping much higher, up to ilvl 181 dropping from nyalotha, some raids arent scaling up some parts of the loot (and that is an issue) but its mostly one or other raid. If mage tower is scaling down to ilvl 120, it is actually the entire opposite of what youre saying, most of the legacy loot is viable and now we have tons of more options than we ever did in any mage tower interation before But adding a bit more tips on top of it: if you're a 70 and want scaled world map ilvl loot, party sync with some toon with chromie time and you should scale to level 60 in order to drop the items, and this method works to scale dungeon gear aswell, but raid ilvl seem to be fixed and not scale, you cant even enter raids in chromie time

I'm confused and this video doesn't help. Old raids (Ds, Soo, ice, tot etc) now drop ilvl around 120+. If you have gear from these old raids they stayed at 47-50 and did not scale up. So my understanding of pros vs cons of the changes Pros: all old raids can be used for tower, since they drop 120+, so you have a much wider selection of gear to choose from. It's now easier to gear. Cons: If you had old gear, it did not scale with the raid. Also since gear is now 120+ ilvl old enchants no longer work. It seems to me that gem gear from Soo and tot etc > current gear. I tested the crafted pvp belt today from mop vs my current gear drakebreakers belt. With only the 4+ int gem, I had 1 int more with the crafted item. There are belts with 2 gem slots and better gems. This is my understanding as of now, please someone correct me if I'm wrong

The ilvls got fixed back to DF ilvls but majority of people will have to refarm their MT sets or even TW sets for Dungeons & Raids

Mage Tower have been nothing but a massive disappointment ever since its return. Its massively overtuned garbage that makes no sense how it works with gear from older expansions. Just bring it up to max level and tune it properly, ffs.

Ovedtuned btw . Old videos of mage tower is high dps numbers and fast phases . Same ppl doing videos are at 10s at times compared to 4min phases. Terrible terrible experience

so now that it's on live, we now have 120 ilvl with 3 bosses at 900k HP (enhance shaman).... this feels impossible

In Dragon Soul, Siege of Orgrimar and Throne of Thunders the dropped gear ilvl is 120-126, and has a lots of socket. In Dragonflight gear i got 453 agility in Mage Tower, and in the gear from this raids i got 367 agility plus the gems and socket bonuses which mean the total agility is 367+144=511. Hopp, Mage Tower gear, and bis trinkets like savage pods, because now its dropped 157ilvl.

no u dont. scaling is fine on all fights ive seen so far. u can farm socketed gear if u dont like the challenge but its not required... so basically same as shadowlands

the mage tower now is nearly impossible the gear scaling sucks and you cant get benefits from legion legendaries like the warlocks slow ring etc

all I know is at the end of SL I struggled a bit with the MT, and today in DF gear 397 ilvl... i smashed the magetower easy. Took like 3 tries.

That's not true if you want to do mage tower you only need to know the encounter and DF gear is enough you don't need to farm old stuff :D I did mage tower in shadowlands when you had nothing to help you and i did it with shadowlands gear on my ret pala on my guardian druid on my ele shaman and i did it even on windwalker monk and i didn't even know how to play it till i started doing that challange :D
