Whenever I forget that I own things, I know I need to tailor it down. If I haven't worn it for a season (I went a whole winter and didn't wear it), then I donate it. I never let myself have more sweaters than DAYS in the season! These might help guide you next time :)

That is a great guide! Especially if you go by climate. How many "cold cold" days does Nashville get? We have winter here in Northern KY and we have cold, but I own maybe 6 sweaters. If it's that cold I wear a coat and if I'm at home I'm in thick, warm lounge wear!

Sezons are three months long, which means around 90 days. does that mean you would allow yourself to have 90 sweaters?

@@iamwindchakra It does depend on the year. Nashville is my hometown, but I've lived in Lexington for awhile. I feel like Nashville is usually 5-10 degrees warmer than northern KY. The difference is not huge.

Wow, that still sounds like a lot of sweaters! But hey, if you love sweaters.... I feel like there are (at least) 2 sweater categories--the big thick kind, the thinner (more basic) kind. These days I don't really get a chance to wear many thick sweaters. If I wear them to work, I just get hot and have to take them off.

You can try pulling out your favourites first then just get rid of the rest or put them away - instead of pulling out everything and going through them :) it’s less overwhelming for me that way

Wow. I love how your whole wardrobe is basically earthtones, and seriously good quality, even the thrifted pieces. I've always appreciated your style. I used to think I was this colorful hippie/artist type (as evidenced in my profile picture), but when I weeded out the things I never wore and looked at the final "keep" pile, I realized I'm a very neutral/earthtone person too. Blacks, browns, beiges, deep rust...navy is probably the wildest color in the bunch. 😃 Decluttering the closet and pinterest are the best ways to find out exactly what your style is. Great video!

I did the blogging thing back when it was still a thing, and received so much PR. I would keep it ALL because when would it happen again? I ended up taking photos of me wearing everything and creating a digital scrap book for it so I could let things go. It's been 8 yrs, I don't own any of it any more. ❤ Just be Elsa, let it gooooooo.

I ALSO love sweaters!! But a good way of eliminating them is to ask yourself, would I wear another sweater OVER this one. And it puts which sweaters you LOVE vs like, in perspective. Bc at the end of the day... all of your sweaters are definitely cute hahha and also there will always be new cute sweaters coming in! There's no shortage there

I purge by categories then sort by color. That makes it easier for me when I am looking a 4 items that are all the same color to judge them and decide which ones to keep. The other thing I say is, does this make me look good. I try on the ones that I am on the fence on. It’s a lot of work to purge. I almost got rid of a duplicate of leggings that I loved then fell on the ice and put a hole in the ones I kept. I dug them out of the bag right away.
