I really like your dorm room scheme and how consistent you kept it. Not sure if you already fixed the black words you put on your DIY canvas but you can always glitter over the text in like a gold (or anything that would match your scheme).

I would highly suggest microwaveable plates and bowls. When my mom bought them for me I thought she was crazy but I used them so much during my first year last year! I used them more than my paper plates because they were sturdier and I could set the plate down on my bed and not worry about any grease marks. My mom got them from Walmart I think. Silverware is a good idea too. Also, I would suggest a Brita pitcher. A lot of people don't like the taste of the water from their schools because they are used to water from home so they end up buying water bottles but the Brita filter saves a lot of money! I was used to well water so the taste of city water was horrid to me! Ethernet cable if your university doesn't have wifi or if the wifi goes out! HDMI cable comes in handy sometimes too! Your dorm room is going to look great in the end! I hope we get to see a final dorm room tour after you are all settled in!

A good way to fix your first canvas painting since you're not liking the black too much is to outline the words with a thin white line! It makes a world of difference :)

I am not a college student, but getting my daughter ready for her freshman year of college and one thing I have noticed a lot of girls are forgetting is a first aid/medicine kit. Things like Pepto, Tums, Cold Medicine, Vitamins, Allergy Meds, Band-Aids, Neosporin, Muscle Rub, Midol, Ice/Hot Pack, etc. I have seriously loaded up my daughter with a mini-pharmacy...not only will she appreciate it, but I am sure her floor mates will as well!!
