Amazing quality of work, feels like it needs tying into some solar forecast and energy supplier APIs so you can get more value out of that huge investment with some grid load shifting in the winter months. Though I guess in your example it gets you through to midnight and from 7am solar is taking over so that would work well alongside eON Next Drive.

Thank you very much 👍 Yes if the customer wanted they could charge the batteries up from the grid but there is that much solar that it gets them basically off grid for large amounts of time. However with the rise of smart tariffs this all may change!

What an awesome install, so nice and clean. Quick question is it normal that SOC goes to 0% on the batteries?

Thank you very much. So the dashboard will show 0% but in reality the battery will be at 5%. This is to protect the health of the battery module

We were restricted by the DNO unfortunately. The customer negotiated a great export deal due to the size of the system so the solar was the priority. As mentioned in the video we could have used two Sonnen inverters per phase to double the inverter capacity on the battery size but it would have taken us over the DNO max inverter limit in this case

​@@OvalRenewablesShouldn't you be able to limit the export, as in G100? Seems to me you have 70kW of solar IIRC yet only 13.8 kW of connected AC battery power, so the batteries can only utilise 13.8kW of solar for charging, the rest is either used by the house or simply exported. This also limits charging from the grid (very useful in the winter) , I have an 8kW Victron Quattro, and 29kWh of storage, yet in the three hour flux window I can only suck in 24kWh of power not accounting for effeciency losses. It's also clear there isn't enough storage, if the batteries go to 0% SOC overnight, but that could be restricted by the customers budget. The install does look good, and I haven't yet watched part 2.

@@TheRonskiman thanks for the comment and I know exactly what you are saying. The perfect scenario would be that the DNO give us an export limit and then we install whatever we like size wise as long as we export limit to the number stated by them. The issue is that this does not happen. For reasons only really know by the DNO, I think it’s to do with voltage uplift and contingency if the G100 fails, the DNO will not just give you a bank cheque system size as long as you export limit. They may restrict the size of system as well as giving you an export limit. I hope this helps.

@@OvalRenewables That is the whole point of a G100, to limit export on a more powerful system, but the system has to have G100 approval - my Quattro doesn't have G100 approval, just G98 & G99, luckily I got full approval for 11.68kW. I think half the time the DNO don't know what they are doing, which is worrying. Yep, start exporting too much for the network and the voltage will rise too high.

@@TheRonskiman it is the whole point yes but it is still a two stage process. They look at the total size of the system as well ask what amount they would be happy to received back from the system as export. It would be nice if it was just based on export but it’s not. 👍
