Damn you younger folks got it easy as far as the big hair is concerned! Rave number five hair spray, lots of upside down backcombing and hair dryer was the go to. Elmers glue or egg whites were not uncommon either! This was back in the Cure/Siouxsie/Bunnymen days...
@ErykaSoleil5 жыл бұрын
Trey Cauley : I'm old enough to remember those days, although my hair was SO long at the time, and my high school would have absolutely had a FIT if I'd figured out how to actually make this look work for me back then. 😂 Not to mention, I was still with my parents at that age, and while they could tolerate the makeup and clothing, they didn't want me doing *anything* chemically to my hair beyond shampoo and conditioner. (Needless to say, the second I left for college, my hair got much more exciting. 😉 )

I've tried this hairstyle today and I love it! I didn't have as much products as you - and obviously your experience- but it was really nice. My hair is naturally blond and a bit curly so I looked more like a weird fairy rather than a goth. Anyway, thanks a lot.
@BleedingxRainbow10 жыл бұрын
I love this look. Sadly I bleach the shit out of my hair, so teasing/backcombing will destroy it and make it all snap off. I'm thinking of getting a hair piece that I can tease up like that.
@BleedingxRainbow4 жыл бұрын
E no. My natural hair colour is pitch black so bleaching it to a light blonde really did a number on it. But using oils, masks and protein treatments really helped. My hair is long down to my butt so I didn’t wanna risk breakage with teasing. Anyway now I’m back to my virgin black hair. I was completely blonde for 3 years and would get my roots done every 5 weeks. It got really expensive and soooo time consuming to take care of it. If I didn’t use all those treatments constantly, it would’ve all broken off. So I finally let my black roots grow out and dyed the blonde hair purple, lilac, blue, silver...rocked an ombré situation for a while. now I’m back to all black

from my experience mix of multiple things is the way to go HOWEVER for me if i use too much wax it looks wet/oily and falls down. the hairs stick together thus get heavy. what i go for is sticking them up, bending halfway through downwards. i push the limit of length that can spike upwards. my style isnt the "fuzzy" kinda volumous. its more like "spacious" (for the lack of a better word) volume because its kinda long but not very long. again it curves back down. it took me so many tutorials and attempts to make it work. my hair is very thin too so that also doesnt help. i still need help seeing how others do their hairs cause with different cuts i get i need to convert to a new method and that requires more trial and error. kinda a fun process getting it to work but sucks that i need to clean it up and unknot just after getting outta shower and the entire process of trying to do my hair
@vintagecrayon4504 Жыл бұрын
This helps so much! I have thin, straight hair, and no products other than water in a spray bottle, and this worked for me. I just dampend my hair with water, did this, and blow-dried it upside down, and it worked. :)

Love the hair thanks for the tutorial!! Btw this might be an old hat for you but detangling is a breeze with a plastic tangle teeze brush - my hair turns into a birds best on its own and is so stubborn it's actually broken several brushes and combs. The tangle teeze (or curry comb style brushes of similar design) sorts it out rapidly and is surprisingly pleasant to use. (Haha they're not paying me - that brush just genuinely made my life easier)

I'd give anything to be able to do this. I love this particular look so very much. I do what little I can with what little I've got. Shoulder length, very ultra fine and thin, thin, thin hair (as in, the hair is skinny AND there is not much on my scalp). So if I do back combing and fluff you can see straight through. And if I use any oils/serums, my hair immediately looks stringy, clumps together, and you can see my scalp right through my hair. I make do with my version of a "messy bun" but even then, I just don't have enough hair! I'm so envious of all your possibilities, and all your options!

So, I've been trying to get my hair up for a few months now. I've had it up in a Mohawk a few times but needing at least one other person and about an hour (or two) of time free to get it done (longish hair lol) is not an option. I've been wanting to try a Deathhawk-like style, but have been hesitant because my hair is naturally thick and lifeless. Been meaning to ask you how to do your hair as I was too lazy to look through your vids, but this was in the related vids to your latest one (reaction to buzzfeed) so don't need to now. Will definitely give this a try soon-ish. Thanks for the vid. :)

something that would make this easier would be if put your hair into either one or two ponytails on the top of you head and then tease it. you can get a similar effect but you wont have to do nearly as much work or use as much product to get it to stay because the ponytail holder will keep the hair in place
