I know this is weird, but recently I have been watching a lot of youtubers with their own unique style whether that be trendy, goth, girly, etc and it's made me question why I'm not being the person I want to be. I always do, be, say what is expected of me. I dress in regular clothes, work a regular job that I don't particularly like but it pays the bills. I don't want to be totally abstract and different, but I feel like I'm really holding myself back from expressing myself. I've always been a huge advocate for people expressing who they are and I think it's time I start doing it. And to all those who feel held back because of friends, family, work, or society, JUST DO IT ;). Thank you for sharing your videos with us. They are very inspirational.

Please, do it! It might take some time and courage, but it is definetly worth it. Nothing can give you happiness as much as embracing yourself. And if you express yourself truly and feel comfortable, you will be loved and hated for who you are. And that's just amazing. I'm actually quite surprised how many compliments and kind words I get from strangers for my style. Of course, there are some stupid comments, but I don't mind. I couldn't be happier with myself. And I think this beautiful feeling should be shared, therefore I want to encourage you. Be yourself in every way you can :)

You definitely should express yourself in whatever way you decide fits! I too am a huge advocate for people expressing themselves, and it would make me so upset to see that anyone didn't feel comfortable enough to do so as well. I agree that youtubers such as Its Black Friday are very important in showing that it is okay to express yourself, and I hope you start to really find yourself too :)

Go for it Kirsten. I was a people pleaser for way too long until i got fed up of living my life fitting into some pigeon hole that i felt i should fit into. It really isnt any of our business what others think of us, they will say/think/act regardless of what we look like so live your life and express yourself in a way that makes you happy, it is your life after all :) You seem like a well rounded lovely individual and that is a great foundation for letting the REAL you out ! I totally agree with the ethos of fashion and a nice pair of shoes increasing self confidence. I recently bought myself a pair of platform boots and I finally feel like I'm able to start visually expressing myself the way that I want to. For a period of time I thought I was worried that others perceived showing an interest in fashion and investing in nice outfits was vain and superficial. For me though as a creative person and someone who has been in theatre productions as a child, I see clothes as a form of creativity and visual self expression. It's fun! I like having fun with my clothes and appearance, it's like my own personal playground

I have a special relationship with shoes. As a bigger women shoes always made me feel better when clothes didn't fit. I am bed ridden now but around 12 years ago when I first became wheelchair bound was shoes. I could wear any shoes I wanted without worrying about falling over or my feet hurting. Sadly I do not own any shoes now because i have no use but I am saving up for the day I make it out of this bed. The first time these feet leave the house it's going to be in irregular choice shoes. Now those shoes are crazy and my fave brand. You have to look harder for gothic options but they are just works of art for your feet.

The second pair of shoes/boots look perfect for the winter season. They appear to have treads. Therefore, making it less difficult to fall on any slippery surface. Including ice and snow. Love the second pair. So stylish and practical. Oh shit!!! I had to edit my comment. Those fluffy lace up boots that she said she wears in the snow are fantastic. Not only do they look warm and cozy. Oh boy, I have the same problem. I've been collecting goth shoes for a few years now and I've noticed that I haven't met a style I didn't like!!! Pennangalan has the best styles. A little on the pricey side but so worth it because they are so well made. Tuk, Transmuter's (sadly, no longer made ) are the best brands. I own a few goth pikes from England that are pretty badass. I got my first pair of platform boots from Dollskill and I absolutely love them, they’re 6.5 inches high and they’re a chunky type of boot. It shocked me how comfy and easy they are to walk in even with them having a nice height to them.
