If anything has given us peace of mind to slowly build for when and IF a situation should come about. Even if that extra storage can help a friend or family member who may find themselves in need. Over 70% of all worker will take sick leave of more than 1 month and 50% will take 6 months due to illness. I sure pregnancy is included but if the number excluded pregnancy’s it would probably still be 20-33% meaning 1 in 5 or 1 in 3. Having emergency cash and food on hand just makes sense, common sense.

I understand where you are coming from, right now I am struggling financially but if something was to happen, like losing my job or other price jumps I don’t have to worry because I have a good pantry. If for no other reason we should have a pantry because it saves money. I have soups in my pantry that cost 60 cents. We may never see those prices again. Even though I am poor slowly but sure I put stuff up, not just my house but my family’s houses too. I have a garden nowadays and am eating like a king for free. In my humble opinion having a pantry is a life skill.

My parents were depression era babies. I was their mid-life crisis. Haha They had me in their 40s. So basically my parents were the same age as my friend’s grandparents. Now looking back I’m thankful. We had a food room growing up. It was a rule that the door always had to be shut. My parents grew up with so little that they never wanted others to see what we had as a surplus. When they were kids, people would steal food. My parents taught me how to garden and can. My husband accepted my “addiction” (as he called it)to canning and referred to it as my hobby. When 2020 came around and we didn’t have to go to the grocery store he finally saw why I did what I did. He now buys me canning jars and asks if I have what we need for the garden. When I tell him there’s a big bag of sugar or flour that needs to be brought in, he doesn’t ask why I bought so much. It might take a while for it to click but when it clicks they will understand and be thankful.

Some people are just bitter, unhappy people. It gives some sick satisfaction to attack other people. Having a well stocked pantry gives me great peace. My life operates so much easier with a well stocked pantry. We lost power for 4 days one winter. Being prepared with a pantry, generator, firewood and propane means we were well fed, we had lights, fridge and internet, we were warm and could cook. We have a large garden. It is a blessing. I can, freeze or dehydrate the bounty my husband grows. I know whats in my food. I know how it was grown. No bioengineering or preservatives in our food. Keep doing what you’re doing. Its appreciated.

It's definitely not about fear or hoarding. Growing up, we always had a well-stocked home, and we lived in a mobile home on a farm! Now that I'm married with a family of my own, I continue to keep a well-stocked pantry/home. With God's grace and a well-stocked home, we didn't have to do any kind of panic buying during the pandemic, and we don't have to run to the crowded store when the weather folks talk about an impending snow storm. Keep up the good work!

When I was first married, we had a terrible crisis in our life which did leave me fearful of where my next meal was coming from to feed our family. So I did this, If I had $20 extra dollars or was blessed with a monetary gift I would buy $20 dollars of something to fill my pantry. I started with canned meats and fish, then added veggies and so on. It took almost 8 months but we had a growing pantry and I could relax for a minute. This changed my way of shopping for life. It was an amazing lesson. I love that you let us know the sale cycles as well. You have been a great help to many families. Thank you ❤

Not about fear at all! I can not believe someone actually said that. I have learned from you how to keep stuff on hand so I CAN cook from what i have one hand and not have to go to the store every week, I end up going every week and a half for things like dairy and produce but all my pantry, freezer items are always stocked. I always look at the ads and get stuff on sale and I love when they do bogo on meats. I showed my ex's wife how to shop this way and she does it to! Saves us all a bunch at both houses. So ignore those people. You are amazing and do not think any different!

Heck, when the covid shutdown hit, we all wished we had extra toilet paper etc. And if I do stock my kitchen out of fear (or common sense) it doesn’t matter to me if I appear over-prepared. I’m an older viewer and keep my pantry pretty full and I don’t need to run out for an ingredient at any point in time because if I don’t have something on hand, I’m substituting anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️ No, I’m not fearful when someone is giving me excellent information the way you do!

I personally have loved your channel since I came across it. As far as shortages go, I spoke about this with friends. One of them made the remark, I'll just go to your house. Wrong! They have the same 24 hours in the day that I have. In fact, I feel they have somewhat of an advantage, they have two incomes coming in. We have one since we homeschool and my children are very young. I meal plan, we do not go out to eat, we have done away with vacations and use that money towards our garden and stocking up when we can. Like you, I try to shop sales and pick up two or three extras when I can. I have never felt fear, if anything it has made me pay more attention to prices etc. Thank you for helping me help my family.

I enjoyed seeing a peek of your teenagers, grocery hauls, and especially your idea to make the food drive contribution a fun contest for the family. There are so many great reasons to stock up our food and toiletry supplies. and the best reason is to take advantage of good sales/coupons. Prices will continue to rise, so stocking up when the most money can be saved is winning. Food security for our families is priceless.

When my husband was home sick for 6 months, my son never realized it was a problem because of full bellies, plenty soaps, deodorant, dental care and toilet paper. I had even picked up the next size clothes at yard sales so he was fine. No regrets.

Before following you - your KZbin channel, I wanted to at least keep a 6 months food storage but we were walking into the grocery store 3-4 times a week. Since following your suggestions we have a basic pantry, a 6 month and a long-term food storage. When COV** hit, I felt overwhelmed (we live on an island and everything must be shipped in. Shortage means it could be 2 -3 months before seeing something.) My husband had me sit down and figure out how long we could go without shopping. Several hours later, I realized we had at least 3 months worth of staples. We had much more food and planned menus than I could have imagined. Throughout COV** we continued to shop smart and study trends, when the news announced rice and flour shortages we were able to plan that into our budget and stock up before the price hikes and product shortages happened. I can see why people feel scared, or feel like you are scaring them into action, I've been there. But I am grateful for all the tips and tricks, that you have helped me prepare my home. Thank you!

Every KZbin channel I watch is saying that hard times are right around the corner. We may be worried about what’s happening in the world, but those of us who have been preparing at least don’t have to worry about our food supplies. Why is it important??? Because last December I was living my life, and out of nowhere I was in a car accident and then in the hospital from an infection due to that accident for a month. I was out of work for three months with literally nothing coming in…..no money. Took me three months to get my short term disability. But, I had my pantry and made it through. I’ve been following you for a few years now. It’s unfortunate that someone would try to create such a narrative…..you’ve learned helpful skills and are willing to share what you’ve learned with this community. I was raised by my grandparents and always knew about the importance of stockpiling and being prepared…that’s not fear, that’s working a reasonable system that maintains you and your family through all times in life. Thank you for being a blessing❤

I have watched you for several years. You give good advice about keeping a stocked pantry. There have been times the past year when I didn't have it in me to go grocery shopping because I was dealing with mental illness - having a stocked pantry meant my family could be fed when I couldn't do it. Keep sharing your wisdom.

I find you have always been super balanced with stocking the pantry. You have taught us to go look for things on sale, to add a can here and there to get two bags of sugar not one

I am so grateful for your videos. Since we moved over to Bear Lake area it is a minimum of 25 minutes to get to the closest store. It isn’t even a large store with fully stocked shelves. It is an hour to Cache Valley to shop. Sometimes the weather is not good enough for us to go through the canyon. I am grateful for fully stocked shelves and never once did you imply a fear factor in your videos. You just encourage smart shopping. ❤️

Started watching you a few years ago and your the reason I started my long term pantry. I can’t tell you how many trips back to the store it has saved me. It saves money in the long run. I’m not doing this out of fear nor did you put that notion in your videos. It’s called being prepared. There is a difference. Thanks for all you do to teach us how to shop better and save money for our families.

Your voice is as a loving friend, sharing your tips and daily strategies for overcoming the inflation THEY are trying desperately to hide. When I'm tired, your clips lift me. I'm a one-income homeschooling mom, living fairly rural - with chickens. No access here to cheap grocery stores, or worth the 45 minute drive to BJ's. Thanks for all you do - you mean alot to some of us!

Thanks for sharing part of your lives with others throughout our world via You Tube and Social Media. You are a beautiful family and very inspiring and entertaining! Thank you! I found You Tube and your wonderful channel quite a few years ago. It is like chatting with a great, precious friend. Thank you! What you share has helped me over come my anxiety. I love watching your channel when I might be feeling a little overwhelmed from having anxiety about different things, needing some mama time, doing household chores, cooking for our precious family of four and needing recipe and meal inspiration and or just wanting to relax a little. I look forward to seeing what our Heavenly Father has for your channel in 2024. Much love, prayers and God Bless for CHRISTmas and the New Year from our family to yours from Australia. xxx

I am 75 and this has been a life style for me for years. I don’t think of it in a fear prospective, but being smart. My grand parents taught me to do this and because of what they taught me, I don’t use the grocery store very often. You are the second person who has said this today. Stocking a pantry doesn’t have to be hard or frightening. Thanks for the very good video❤️

You’ve always been a food hoarder. That’s one thing I noticed when I started following you over a year ago. I like your freezer meals. Your frozen pizza “bags” of contents are all my teens favorite things to find in our freezer. Keep doing what you’re doing. People panic all the time. Over everything. So you’re not the “Cause’. That’s just silly. 💋

In Alaska we are isolated and affected by weather and whatever is going on in the lower 48. Having a well stocked pantry and freezer makes it so we AREN’T worried or stressed about when the next shipment of whatever is going to arrive. Plus grocery shopping constantly is a total drag especially if you work outside the home. Keep it up! 😊

The pantry stocking videos are my favorite! I've always stocked up, but your videos made the process more functional, even with home canning; if I make chili every 3 weeks I need at least 17 jars of tomatoes just for chili. I realized that I had only gone to the store once in the past 2 weeks and I'm a stop at the store everyday person, I had everything I needed here to just keep making meals. So much money saved. Also, in western Canada there is a strike at the sugar factory, I'm reading that there is no sugar to found anywhere and it made the prices jump in Ontario. Having a little extra, bought on sale would have helped a lot if people

I’ve never felt like you projected fear in creating a pantry. I’ve found your tips and info very helpful. It’s so important to have at least a little backstock. A couple years ago here in Iowa we had a derecho (land hurricane). It shut down everything. You need to be prepared for at least a few days of unexpected waves. Weather… job loss… etc

Since i had my own apartment at 17 in college ,i have always stocked up on food and everything else. I had like 3 jobs and brought a little more and only went to the store when i went to work. Sickness or an weather emergency can put you in a tight spot when you have no food in the house. This time of year is the time to stock up on turkeys, hams, baked goods, etc.
