Just a general comment…I just listened to you on a Podcast with another homesteader. Thank you for your realization that some of us might have to use under-the-bed storage for long term emergency pantry. I can tell that you know about all levels of resources and income. Thank you for being so relatable to all of us❤️

Hey Jamerille! If you have a built in soap pump in your counter you can attach a clear hose to a big container of soap and it will draw it up to your pump. (You would never have to refill until your soap becomes empty!) There are videos on KZbin on how to do it. Great haul!!

In our sink in the UK there’s a wee disc across from the tap and if you pull the disc off you can buy a pump from eBay,then under the sink you attach the wee bottle and fill it with fairy liquid. I was 48yrs old when I discovered this 😂😂😂

Get the sweet potatoes from John Henerys and put some in water and make Sweet potato slips to plant in your garden and grow your own sweet potatoes! Put tooth picks in the potatoes and put them in a jar of water, set in a window and let put on leaves and roots, when ready break off tops with leaves and roots and plant.

We put our peppers closer together. We were told that they polony off each other and if you plant them close enough that their leaves are touching when they get larger you will have a better harvest. So far that has been true for us. And for paste tomatoes to do sauce and such.... San marzanos in Amish paste tomato paste taste really well. We have several neighbors asking for San marzanos when we get our garden going.

Oh Jamerell I love seeing your summer garden videos. The squash confusion is so relatable! Zucchini and some verityes of summer squash are bushes. Most other winter squash, pumpkins, and mellons do vine. Also some thing I learned last year is that you can stunt your peppers and tomatoes but mostly the peppers if your nights are still getting below 50° f. I hope you have had warm weather and good Rain for your garden this year.
@JamerrillStewart Жыл бұрын
I definitely think I put my peppers and tomatoes out too soon. We’ve had a lot of nights under 50° in May. I thought I was safe waiting until Mother’s Day for those but I probably needed to wait until June.

Girl I've got five kiddos and two of them are not in the house and then there's three adults and I need the store to lol. I do have a local discount grocery store. It's just a local one that some family opened where I live in Oregon. I shop there and get the deals that they have and then my local grocery outlet always has really good deals on some stuff. And then I do a Costco haul every month and then watch Safeway deals and we buy our meat there also. Definitely nice to find good deals lol.

You do know you can plant your dry beans and grow them and not have to buy a package of garden seeds? plant lima beans, pinto beans, kidney beans, black eyed peas and so on. Make your own 15 or 8 bean soup mix so much cheaper by buying the dried beans seperate and put a scoop of each type of beans and lintels in a jar or bag to use as soup beans.

Hi, Jamerrill! On the squash, look up you tube vids on growing squash vertically- Brian's from Nxt Level Grdn is good. I'm planning to try it this year. Also Brpee came out with one called Rise and Shine this year with more of a climbing tendency. Last year I grew the white patty pan squash and they sprawled for yards!!! I'm trying them trellised on a post this year. I'm so in awe of your energy and ability to just keep going in spite of the surprises that pop up.

There are definitely some different climbing zucchini plants - the one I have come across is called Tatume climbing zucchini (my son says they look like hand grenades bc they are round 😂) There are also tons of squash varieties, some that are a bush variety and others that are vining. Never worry about being confused about gardening because I have learned over the years everyone has their own ideas/rules about things and just because 1 person/book/website says you “have to do it a certain way” doesn’t necessarily make it true. I have had so many things planted with/next to other things that they say you shouldn’t because they will die and they have thrived. Just like everything in life, advice needs to be taken with a grain of salt. You will find what works for you and each year you will get better at it just like you did with your big batch cooking!😊
