EPIC Q&A! Packed with unique questions, post some more down below and enjoy :) 0:05 Hey Alex do gloves effect the grip strength? 0:57 I can't deadlift the bar. I am so weak and it is embarrassing going to the gym. How do I possibly progress when I can't even pick up an unweighted bar off the ground? 2:04 Why do you even focus that much on the neck when you have a beard that covers the neck anyways? 3:36 Should you train neck everyday or only 2 times a week 4:25 Have very puffy nipples and it's making me go crazy, what can I do about this? 5:26 I have a problem with a huge gut. I am only 13% body fat so I have somewhat visible abs over a super large gut. Not fat, but literally like a GH gut those roided up bodybuilders have. The weird thing is I rarely do deadlifts or squats. Anything I can do to get rid of my gut? 7:18 Hey Alex ! What do you think about using a slingshot for incline/dumbbells? Thanks ! 8:32 What are the cons of a beginner using an intermediate program? 10:01 What is the best way to progress with weighted pull-ups? How often should I do them? I'm currently able to do 40 pounds for 5 reps. I'm 130 pounds. 10:52 From strictly a health/longevity perspective would you say it’s accurate that being bear mode would adversely effect your health and thus reduce life expectancy? I’m wondering because even though typically when you’re in a bear mode state your body fat percentage is at a healthy level (not too low or high), your BMI is going to be at an unhealthy level because of all the extra mass you’re packing on your frame. 13:15 Do you need to perform vertical pulling to compliment vertical pushing? Or is it okay to perform horizontal pulling (rows) to compliment both horizontal and vertical pushing? 14:26 My wrist is broken and I cant use my hand at all. Training with the non-broken hand only will cause muscular imbalances should I do It anyway? 15:22 Have you got any insights on blood flow restrictive training? 16:19 Could novices do nucleus overload on a specific body part? If they grow the nuclei in that specific muscle wouldn't it strongly benefit them for the rest of their lifting career? 17:13 Can we really get a big neck resistance bands attached with a neck harness which u have mentioned a neck and traps guide video? I have pairs of resistance bands they resist like 45, 35, 25 and 15 kilograms. (Total resistance is 240 kg) Could you answers this? Love from Turkey 18:24 Is it normal to fantasize about roids all the time??? Because every time I search for aesthetic natty bodybuilding there are very few physics that I want to achieve...the best I've seen is Alex or Jeff cavalier...not the most desirable xd 20:29 Do you think that the human body is meant to bench 400lbs or squat 700lbs? 21:28 Is pausing better than touch and go for muscular growth? 22:19 With concurrent periodization Could I keep my 4 main compound movements but change up the variations I have for those compound movements? (I do calisthenics) 23:33 Do you have any advice for general injury prevention when doing boot camp style training? I hear it can be brutal on your knees and shoulders as well. Anything I should be doing before I go to keep my body and joints strong and healthy like stretching or connective tissue work? 24:45 Why do you talk differently now? 26:07 What is a good size for a neck? I feel like I naturally have a good neck, the circumference is 15.5 inches. 145 lbs 5’8” 27:16 What should I do if my bench no longer goes up with linear progression but my other main lifts do? I’m 16. My deadlift and squat increases as long as I eat and sleep enough but my pause bench is 225 and doing 5x5 doesn’t work 28:33 Can a adult of 40+ years go Bear Mode and how? And chest,shoulders,arms in one day? Workout routine look like. 29:54 Alex what do you think about Chris Jones training regimen? It goes against everything you say, he trains muscle from different angles with super high volume and even splits to leg days into two section. 30:57 Thoughts on Larry Weels' OHP (400) and incline bench (500x5)? PS: Glad you liked the spotify playlist, got awesome feedback on it open.spotify.com/user/3jkjypuxqjtv2xplfzix9kt85/playlist/1EQRgyd4PCjNQUr66bvVtO?si=yubNWWYbTSCHRDCP8vpnKw

Another thing that COULD be the reason people have a gut yet are somewhat lean (around 15%), is that they might have an oblique to abdominal strength imbalace. Your obliques are very important posture muscles and they help pull in your abdominal muscles towards the center of your body. If your obliques are weak they will not be able to hold in your abdominals which will cause your abdominals sticking further out which causes the "GH-gut" look.

I get elbow pain from EZ-bar skull crusher and DB skull crushers. This is even after I have done 5 sets of incline bench or overhead press even being in a giant set of either DB row, DB OHP, DB Curl, DB skull crusher OR penlay row, close grip bench, EZ-bar curl, EZ-bar skull crusher. Hi Alex, I workout at home and don’t believe that I have the equipment for cheat rows so, I was curious as to whether or not you think that front lever rows could build a very thick or at least adequate upper back (mid/lower traps). In case you were curious, the equipment I have is the following (An adjustable dumbbell that goes up to 100 pounds, four resistance bands from 30lbs to 135lbs of resistance, a bench, a pull-up bar, and a dip bar). Thank you!

Who can't deadlift an UNWEIGHTED bar? Wtf was that question? I can't even fathom someone being that weak.
@davorbrijacak6 жыл бұрын
If he really meant unweighted bar and if it wasn't a troll question then Alex didn't even give an answer. Technically that person should start with just a stick and progress to the lighter bar and then olympic bar but he also might be a kid or a guy with some serious physical condition and having any strength progress might be impossible for him. I wonder why that guy would even watch channel like this and ask a question, you'd expect someone like that wouldn't even discover Alex without having at least some experience in the gym.

Hey Alex, sometimes I have trouble unracking the bar when doing the floor press. If I try to, it seems like I bleed too much energy just doing that. In order for me to keep that energy I move my body closer to the bar, and unintentionally lose some back tightness when I unrack, which may be costing me reps. The only way that I can properly floor press, without bleeding energy from the unrack is requesting a liftoff from someone else.Any fixes for this? (Body placement, technique issues, etc.)

Majed Al-Oskan I actually really appreciate it mate. Thanks for answering my questions. Hey Alex, I recently started doing pull-ups at the beginning of my workouts, but I struggle to do them with a grip any wider than shoulder width. I see other people do them really wide. Do I need to work towards a wider grip? Will a wider grip stimulate my lats more? Should I keep doing them shoulder width until I can perform them wider? I'm currently doing 4 sets of 5, maybe 7, reps. Thanks.
@cheesecake96386 жыл бұрын
RagnaToad The wider you go it can actually simulate the shoulders more which is the not the normal aim for pull ups. It's good to do a variation but mainly focus on your current ones and build up the strength with good form.

Hello Alex! It's a longer question, hope you dont mind that, I would love to hear your opinion. I am 22 years old, been training for 5 years. Long story short, 3 years ago I hurt my back (SI joint) and since then I am not able to do a conventional deadlift without pain, so you can imagine how weak my back is (erectors, to be exact; my upper back is fine). I can't even go over 80kg on back squat (not talking about quads strength here). I've been doing front squats only, cause they allow me to stay more upright (bending forward under weight, like in back squat/DL, causes problems over time). 2 weeks ago I decided to risk the biscuit and get a general strength program from a trainer (I've been always programming by myself). I told him about my back and he said that we could work around that. He put sumo DLs in my program. I tried them and my back was fine, but I feel really uncomfortable in sumo position and my left knee (which NEVER hurt a single time) hurts a little bit now... Today I was desperate and I tried rack pulls BELOW the knee (I have tried rack pulls above the knee before for traps/upper back and my lower back was 100% fine, obviously cause you dont bend forward a lot when doing them) and guess what? My SI hurts again. Not much, but that already tells me that I have to stop doing them. I really dont have a need to use DLs in my training, I am just a casual with beginner strength, but won't neglecting erectors end bad? I've been doing back extensions and they worked really well for my back, but is it enough? Cant do reverse hypers in my gym, no equipment. No trap bar too. What would be your opinion on that? If my question is too long for Q&A I would appreciate your comment to this post :) thanks!

Hey alex first i wanna say that conventional liftinig is boring for me. Is it fine that every single workout (i made a program for my self using my knowledge that i learned for you) im switching between exersicses im dowing full body workout and every single workout im using ohter exersices and for example: Bench press/Floor press/band floor or bench Ohp/Z press/band Z press Deadlift/Hack squat/rack pulls above knee/rack pulls bellow knee Pull ups/Lat pull down/Rows Shrugs/power shrugs/power cleans Front squat/back squat/box squat/Pistol squats/lunges Im usimg another exersice every workout. 2 days volume work and 2 days intansity work. When i do a 1 Rm check using the basics: Bench,Dl,Squat,Ohp Im doing it every single month and every time im able to add weight for them!!!! About 20 to my Dl 20 to my squat 10 to my bench and ohp Is it ok?

Screw the neck curl stuff imo, just bridge a lot. I started doing it more bc it helps with movement, move around with it, do it bridging to the front and back, side to side. I asked my coach about bridging and if it was dangerous and he just scoffed at me and said it was fine. I think it’s the best neck exercise personally. I think of it like a bench press vs a chest fly, the neck bridge seems more like a compound movement if that makes any sense. And it’s really direct too. Just bridge a lot, put a 25 plate on your chest, 45, just bridge.
@GT-td9ni6 жыл бұрын
Ethan Chaney it would be so much easier and probably more effective to just do bridging but all these former wrestlers in their 40s and 50s saying they regret doing them because of cervical spine issues.

gypsy tears You see you say that, but all of my wrestling coaches are in their 30’s and 40’s and they say it’s safe. I asked my coach, an all American wrestler in his early 40’s I believe, and he just scoffed and said it’s fine. He told me it’s fine to bridge during a workout. And Alpha Destiny himself bridges and referenced someone with an impressively heavy neck bridge.

How could I prevent overtraining? I work out 5 days a week, 2hrs. I feel well, and make progress faster than with my 5x1:00 or 4x1:30 splits, but I’m a beginner, should I concern myself with overtraining at 10 hrs of training a week? If so, how should I progressively increase the amount of sets?

Would you consider abusing roids and dirty bulking to be similar paths to getting bigger as both compromise your health for size?
@jayn83924 жыл бұрын
Kinda depends on how much fat you gain and how that fat effects your vitals and organ function. Steroids are VERY hard on your system, and if you are already fat it will be that much worse. Roids can raise your blood pressure, effect liver and kidney function, cause hair loss, shrink your balls, raise cholesterol, raise your risk of certain cancers, give you nasty mood swings/irritability and gyno. It's pretty common for long term users to have heart and liver problems which are deff the most serious of the side effects imo.

If you have gyno then definitely get your chest as big as you can and it will definitely help create an illusion where your chest sticks out your shirt as a whole so your nips don’t seem bad at all. Only when your shirtless can someone tell you have gyno and it still isn’t that bad still since you have muscle to even out how much it sticks out.

Hey Alex! I am 20 years old and have been lifting weights regularly for 6 months, previously I did calisthenics for a few years (but not that regularly). I want to build muscle and be lean (12-15%), without going into a cut (maybe one or two mini-cuts for 30 days) for at least 1-2 years. In addition, I like to eat and would like to eat more, should I do reverse dieting and increase my calories by 50 every week (my maintenance is about 2500 cal)? Or just eat at a 300 cal surplus and watch me not become too fluffy?

Yes sounds like you might have some selfesteem issues. I think you should realize that at the end of the day noone cares if you have a little bit more muscle or not you should see lifting as a hobby but muscle really isnt that important

Best q&a so far in my opinion.. but in regards to that puffy nipples question, i have a small degree of it so what would be of the most importance, losing bodyfat or building chest? I can do 100lbs dips for 5 reps so i have okay chest and my bodyfat is around 15-18%(i think its quite accurate assumption because i can see my top 4 abs).. should i recomp which would give me more chest development or lose the bodyfat first?

gunky peep I used to get the same thing bro, do reverse curls it helped a lot with my wrist. Now I haven't had the pain since I started weight training which was years ago and it's completely gone also if you get a grip strength resistance thing that helps aswell.

Hey Alex, So right now I'm skinny fat, but a few months ago have started running. It has become a total addiction and I'm running over 10km almost every day. I know it won't be the most effective, but could you recommend me a workout routine that will allow me to build a bit of strength and muscle even in a pretty big deficit that doesn't hit the legs that much (deadlifts for example leave my legs so sore that I can't run the next few days :P)?
@kristiantonnesen72616 жыл бұрын
SerbiaPhantom cause you’re not used to them. Do deadlifts until you’ll be able to run the following days. Just go lighter when you run. It happens when you start working a muscle group out. Just give it a couple or few weeks of doing deadlifts and you’ll be fine after that. But don’t skip dead lifts
@SerbiaPhantom6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply my man! Should I do any specific variation of deadlifts or just pick any?
@kristiantonnesen72616 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t really tel you. I am starting to see the doing 10 reps is kinda pointless for me now and I’m going to move up a lot in weight and do lower reps. But id day wait until you get form perfect before you start lifting heavier. Probably just try lower weights with higher reps until then. Then switch once form is great.
