hey i was just wondering why isnt it okay to get pets from a pet store? xx
@AlyssaNPets2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Pet stores get their animals from large inhumane breeding mills that often keep dozens, or even hundreds, of breeding animals in small, stacked wire cages for their entire lives, with little or no exercise, veterinary care, or human attention, solely to pump out animals for the pet trade. They are often sick and have horrible genes. Buying an animal from a pet store tells that pet store that the demand is high so therefore you are supporting this process. The more we stop supporting these pet stores the less of demand they have therefore we can make a change :)

@@AlyssaNPets Hi! I love your channel so much and I'm so happy that you have thr time and money to look after so many animals. I love animals aswell. I have 2 hamsters called Rosie (she's an 8 month campbells dwarf) and Milo(he's a 3 month syrian). I got Milo from a pet shop, which I now know is bad. He recently has had an injury, which he has got an infection from. He's now got conjunctivitis and I'm really worried. I know it's not a major disease to worry about because it can be easily treated. Thx if yo read this. ILY xxx ❤❤❤

Here's a great tip. Don't just have stuff they need. Hamsters don't like open spaces and will hate it. If you have a open space you can put sprays in a tunnel facing down or putting moss. Just make sure there's no big open spaces. Please use water bowl as it's the most natural way for them to drink and they can actual hurt their backs from drinking from a water bottle❤️
@noqueq9003 Жыл бұрын
There is no veterinarian instruction that says that ONLY bowls are good for them.. Don't spread misinformation in the disguise of expert advice. Bowls and water bottles are equally good for them and equally used even by long term hamster owners. There is also no evidence for the back pain you say. I know that is true for guinea pigs but there is no such evidence for hamsters. Plus hamsters strain their bodies upwards to explore stuff all the time so drinking from a water bottle, especially one that is on a low level, is really NO problem for them. Don't confuse your personal opinions with actual facts.

If you are interested in learning more about naturalistic hamster cages and more about hamsters care in general, I would recommend watching Victoria Raechel. A very natural enrichment that you could do is get feeder worms that are safe for reptiles, I know my hamster loves mealworms, however crickets are eh with him. I'd thought I'd throw that out there since you also have a scaly one! I'm thinking of making him(OG Katnip Kush, the male long haired Syrian) a natural dig box with live worms and insects {meant for consumption of pet exotics like isopods and mealworms, etc.} in a 64qt(lidded plastic tote with small screen ventilation) planted garden with millet and other hamster safe herbs. I live in Seattle. Love to see your new home being decked out!!

I used to use bin cages but had a bad experience with them I hope it all goes well with this bin cage! I would also be really careful about the idea for the water bottle, any surface they can grab and chew on they will chew it and escape. I’m so glad you were able to rescue a hamster! Best of luck!:D

I'm so happy for you and Elm!!! I'm so glad you took her in, she is in amazing hands with you and I know she will love you to bits! If you need bedding suggestions I 100% recommend carefresh, it's not dusty and it's very sturdy for burrows (also very soft) I also recommend looking for more nite angel items, since they are an amazing brand. 💜

I'm exited for you! Just be careful the plattform won't be too high, dwarfs can hurt themselves easily when falling. Also you can get some dried flowers etc. to add to the food if you want to. There are some specifically for hamsters. I really need to get one of these sandbaths though. Mine always makes such a big mess, seems like such a good idea to keep it from spilling everywhere TAT
@nyam.32902 жыл бұрын
I don't know if the video just messes up the dimensions but the bin looks a little small tbh. I'd reccoment just building your own enclosure that's bigger and taller so you can put way more stuff in there and put in more bedding. (That would also be good since the Wheel might be too tall with the little stand) I wouldn't put the wheel on the bedding directly cause A) The hammy will jam that thing up with the bedding and B) She could dig under it and get trapped

You should add in freeze dried chicken in the mix and make sure to pick out all the sugar (peas, corn, carrots, etc) in the mix as dwarves are more prone to diabetes. Good luck w the new ham.

Hi, I have a suggestion. If you want to scatter feed but also want to make sure your hamster is eating, you can just scatter feed in piles. Like put a couple little piles of food randomly throughout the cage. They still have to search for it but its also easy to check and see if the food is gone.

The forage seed mix I mix that into when I make my rat food not sure how much you payed for it but I get mines from petco and since they online match it was $1.66 per package so I bought all they had in stock they also have a flower mix as well ❤️

I can put my wheel on it and my water bottle. Just a suggestion if you can't get the wheel to fit.
