I’ve noticed velvet and textured ornaments are trending this year. Oh Macenna, a suggestion if you have a lot of boxes to get rid of, post to marketplace or something and I’m sure resellers would love to have them :) we love boxes and bubble wrap 😋

Its not really a "shame". She lives in California, and she just bought a house there. Its hard to be in two places at once, and she spent 2 years in Texas working on the cottage in isolation.

I’m so excited for Christmas! I have all the handmade ornaments that were on our tree when I was a kid. I turned 50 this year, so most of them are in the 40-50 year old range. Some are made of beads, some are felt with individually added sequins, etc. it always baffles me when people do different ornaments from year to year. My stocking was knitted by my grandma’s cousin. I get such joy bringing them out from year to year.

I've been handmaking ornaments for my tree for the last 8 years, but now I want a different theme so I'm starting from nearly scratch this year!! I'll still be keeping all the ones I've done before, and some can even transition into my new idea, but I definitely understand the want for something new! Christmas is absolutely a time for traditions and all that, but not EVERYTHING has to stay the same all the time!

@@lyr8364 Polymer clay, mostly! & air dry clay, painted wood shapes, paper, that sort of thing. Customizing premade ornaments as well, with paint and things that can be glued on. I had a Harry Potter themed tree, so I made tiny books from paper and printed out the real covers really small, and sculpted a lot of references from the books with clay.

I have a feeling we won't be seeing the cottage make overs again. She doesn't even talk about it anymore I notice. It seems like she said she would go back to doing projects there after the hot summer was over in a video a long time ago but she never talks about it. Since buying the new house I think she has lost all interest in the cottage. I miss it seeing it. I subscribed about this time last year cause I enjoyed seeing her work on it and spending time with her mom.

She hasn’t lost interest in the cottage, she just has a few things to do in LA. The cottage is so special to her. It’s also going to be her & Romeo’s retirement home too one day she’s said. The LA home is the one they’ll live in now. I’m sure when she’s next back in Texas there will be cottage content of some description :) don’t worry

Love all the ornaments. They are so beautiful. We have our main tree in the living room which is decorated in all our nice themed ornaments. Then we have a smaller tree in our bedroom. That tree is a modge podge of all our special ornaments the kids have made at school, our first home, wedding etc. and ornaments from all our travels ❤

I have found over the years, SO many beautiful, vintage/heirloom, classic name-brand, serving pieces (cake pedestals, beautiful bowls, goblets, etc.) from my local second-hand /thrift stores. These were expensive pieces in their day, and timeless pieces as well, that I mix and match with my regular nice (neutral) set of dinner service ware. I find it disheartening to see the sometimes expensive knock-offs that sadly are made in China. It is far more fun to hunt for/discover and curate pieces that I will love to use for years (like the previous owners of these items did). Many of these pieces, if discovered by antique buyers and auction houses will seel easily for hundreds of dollars. I like the idea of re-using something that is classic and was cherished by the original owner.

Loved everything you unboxed! The pieces for the tablescape are all lovely, especially the glassware! And so many ornaments for your tree. Those big sparkly balls and finial drop ornaments (the ones that are like an icicle with a ball at the top) were my favorites, but the drill and key were adorable! And I liked the straw ornaments as fillers to help relax the formality of the dressier pieces. And the ribbon is gorgeous - I hope you bought more than one reel. It's one of those things you inevitably need more of and then it's sold out when you realize! Cute clothes, too - beautiful dress and I can picture you in it. I love the sweaters, too, especially the colors! Wine looks like it will be gorgeous with your coloring! Looking forward to seeing the reveal of your friend's home!

I love my Christmas Ornaments. I got them in 1998 from Pier 1 - I adore them, and still use them today!!!! I couldn't think of getting different ornaments! LOL

Hello. I came across your channel and love it! I watched them from the beginning and now caught up. I like both homes though I find your L A my favourite plus your face lights up when you're there you can tell its a special place to you. I also have a love for diy projects (though you have far more talent than I). I do get bored if I don't have a project, even though i work, i have to have something to do in the home, whether diy or crochet. I've done ikea hacks to upcycle furniture. Makes me smile. The relationship between you and your mum is delightful, and you both seem lovely people.
