Thanks, Jay. This video finally got me moving on my whiteboard project, which I've been telling my wife I'd build for our home business for over 2 years now! Also wanted to build as cheaply as possible. I haven't invested in a lot of tools, just have a loyal tablesaw. This video is just what these DIY KZbin videos are for --> inspiring viewer with ideas & tips to help us start and finish a job. Well done, and thank you for the time and effort you put in to make it concise, simple to follow, and interesting!

Board Looks great. I am not here to criticize but PLEASE don't cross your arms on a Radial compound mitre saw. One kickback and a jump of the saw, you got a blade in the arm or a loss of your arm. I have seen what happens to and arm from that sort of injury. And I sure don't want it to happen to me or anyone else. But that is a great money saving Idea that turned out great. Sorry for the lecture, just don't want you to get hurt. :)

Great tools... I have couple of those boards at home, just ask the store to cut then for you. I covered the borders with a green electrical tape (can get the tape it in many colors), and i nailed to the walls. So far is been great due to the convenience of the size. Unfortunately the board will stain a bit. ( In my case I have to write about many subjects that i keep there for an entire semester until school is done) so at the end I have a hard time getting it back to its original color. Still looking for a solution that can dissolve the ink completely... I will try the Magic clean E.

@jodas76510 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you have always done this, but only use alcohol to clean your boards. Using detergents and other things like that cause soap scum to build up on the surface, and that is what usually causes ink stains. Never use windex or other types of cleaners.

Quick question: What marker brand do you use? the brands that I have gotten have this wet look to it as if the marker is evaporating. Some are worse than others. The wet erase markers do it pretty bad and the office depot dry erase ones are the same. Any advice would be great
@JayBates10 жыл бұрын
Michael Nguyen I have a dozen or so markers and most of them are different brands. I have no clue.

Home depot in Canada doesn't have it. Lowes did, but cost me $65. Still cheaper then buying actual white board costs $400 here.
@stephenstrickland73911 жыл бұрын
How well has this held up over the past few months?

It's in the same condition as day one. We've found that some brands of markers are easier to remove than others but just a spray of windex on a rag and it's back to being perfect.

Thanks i buy it in HDepot and I make it! Thanks for save my pocket $. By the way, i take one panel flat in wood to put in the back (same size) on the withe board and painted with varnile and put togheter and sellead with glue, and the with board is more stronger and the durability is for many years. The withe board in the back the material is weak (Pressed paperboard), that is because i made that. Thanks

+Emad kamel You could buy dry erase board paint, and if you want to be able to use magnets on it, buy the magnetic primer. Prime then paint a wall, board, etc. and you can have any size dry erase board you wish. I've seen people use the chalkboard paint in a whole room for their kids, later on when the kids get older you can simply paint over it. I know the chalkboard paint I got was about $20 for a 1 pint can. I think the dry erase board paint is about the same price, can't remember exactly what the magnetic primer cost, but I think altogether it is about $50...totally worth it for a better more permanent solution.
@BrianHw17 жыл бұрын
I looked into dry erase paint. For the good stuff, it's still going to run you over $100 for a large space. I just got 3 1" x 4" boards to use as borders for $2.50 each. Just have to cut 1 down to size with a circular saw. If you don't have a circular saw, Lowes will cut it for you. But you don't have to do all the grooves or cut the 2x4 into pieces. You do probably need a power drill, but you should have that anyway.
@iamgabrielf6 жыл бұрын
I bought an 8' x 4' Thrifty White Panel Board (Not white panel board) and a box of 1" nails. Lowe's cut it into one 6' x 4' piece and two 2' x 2' pieces for free. I nailed them directly to the walls without borders. Less than 20 bucks for a huge board in the home office and two small boards in the kitchen. No tools required.
