I was on the fence on which crawler to get… You answered it for me. Gen8. I enjoy running AS MUCH as tinkering. Looking forward to both with this next purchase. Great video.

Thanks for your advice. I've bought two used Gen8 (I edition) from a guy here in Ukraine. That's where the problems started. One car became a donor of parts for the next one. Today the rear outer portal housing fell apart after a short ride on the sand. Metal parts became my goal because plastic parts are not reliable. To people who would like to buy this crawler in the pre-used option. Be ready to change a lot of original plastic parts.

Thanks for the tips! I just got a used Gen 8 this weekend, and I don't quite know where to start with it. This was helpful.

After switching to 1.9 mud slinger xl’s my gen 8 really came into its own. I weighted my rc4WD wagon wheels and cannot believe how well it climbs . It’s amazing.

I just bought the brass outer portals (cheap Amazon specials) , a treal front brass diff cover, and some Amazon special brass wheel adapters that are 12mm wide. All this because I added a roof rack and it’s now top heavy lol..

Thanks very much for creating the video I appreciate it. I really enjoy driving my Gen8, but it's just not as capable as my Axial Capra. On the other side of the coin, the Gen8 looks like a true scale crawler compared to the Capra that is not as realistic. Those axles really add an awesome look that just raises the bar for how realistic a scale crawler can be. Thank you for showing off the performance changes, it was a good comparison! When focusing on pure crawling performance, the body of the Gen8 is a big problem. It's very high quality body, but it's so heavy and puts a lot of weight high above the chassis. A body swap could be a cheaper upgrade than these axles and provides good performance increase. Many folks are using super strong (extra heavy) rare earth magnets to attach a new body, but that brings back the weight problem, so I used the plastic body posts instead. I swapped for the Injora Jeep body, and the performance really improved, but I lost the look I loved so I went back to the stock International Scout body in the end. I completely agree with your wrap-up, and I would probably just get the front axle if I was looking for pure performance. These will be a nice addition to my Gen8 to give it that extra touch of scale crawler awesomeness! Thanks again!

I'm thinking of getting full aluminum front and rear axles, not brass, since i wanna keep it light-ish but still upgrade em. I found some products on amazon and ebay and it comes to a total of $115 for full aluminum front and rear axles. I'm just concerned that the parts are so cheap they wont fit together well 🤣 but id like to know your opinion wether it'd be worth a try! Everything id be getting would black out the axles.

Hey what size screws did you use for the c hubs? Please respond! I looked on the manual too and got the "right ones" after i snapped a screw on the new aluminum axle i got! 🤦🏾 So i ordered another aluminum axle housing and the new screws that were supposed to fit were too long as well and the same thing happened. So now I'm going to try it with a plastic housing do you know how long the screws are supposed to be? Are they the 3*16 button head? Do you have a part number for them? Appreciate the help

The ZD DBX-10 brushless is a bit to expensive to be tempting to purchase. For the price you are so close to a name brand with parts support so I have a hard time spending all that money on the ZD Racing car.

Oh man hate to be that guy, but Big Mistake buying those 3 piece redcat axles, do a little research & you'll find out why from all us guys with first hand experience. They look the part feel nice seem durable (FOR NOW) but trust me there not, I'd would return them tomorrow as fast you can before it's to late. once you do that place an order for the Treal Gen 8 axles. at most your looking at a few dollars extra but 10 Xs better made. if the Treal axles aren't in stock run the plastic axles until Treals are back...The ones you have will fall apart theyll break just a matter a time. do some research you'll see for yourself.... just get the Treals & Thank me later, unfortunately, I was a guinnie pig & had nobody to for warn me so I ended up losing the $130.00 dollars they cost me!!! 👍🏼💯✌🏽
