This was the idea all along back when Palmer sold it, it was the operating system, not the hardware that they were going to be the windows of VR using Facebook to launch. I mean everyone saw it. A singular company that has games launched from an OS. It was that go through that operating system that was in ready player one.

I really wish Facebook wasn't the only one using All in One VR Headsets this technology has been a thing using android technology Mark Zuckerberg shouldn't be trusted with his abusive nature. If I could show you how many screenshots of how many people I've reported for violating his precious policy and they say it didn't violate the policy when it does you would have second thoughts of how he really acts someone needs to do something about Meta CLAIMING they own virtual reality when other companies started the All in One headset processing way BEFORE them and suddenly they disappear from existence like someone is silencing history.

The Xbox headset is just a Quest 3 in black and green and will probably have a Xbox themed dashboard and a bundled Xbox controller

I wonder if these higher end future headsets will even have games that can fully use their capabilities? Or will game developers keep sticking to building games that run well for the general market? We need a 'can it run Crisis?' game to benchmark against these future headsets as well as more customizable graphics settings in games.

Mark Zuckerberg has no right to owning Oculus and changing it to Meta especially when their customer service is very unreliable whatever you do don't let Facebook or Meta "troubleshoot" your headset they'll hold it hostage in a gamestop warehouse.

I don't know fck all about Pico.. is it comparable and cheaper than the quest 3? I'm suuuuper satisfied with my quest 3, it's such a huge jump from my quest 2

@@Dan-sw8tg Pico 4 is massive jump from Quest 2 too (for me at least). Comfort, optics and passthrough is way much better in it than in Quest 2 and it costs about same. So it's basicvally Quest 2 killer in specs and PCVR.

Meta just wants to be the dominating VR marketplace and OS so they can keep mining data on this new compute platform, to feed their marketing business, that is what they do. Even Microsoft Windows has become a main data mining platform. Now that meta has made quest big enough they just want other companies more focused on selling hardware, games and apps to use their platform so meta can do its thing and sell ads

The alternative is Google’s XR OS and Google is also a data mining company. Meta is at least heavily invested in game development. Neither Google nor Apple cares about games.

I just can't get into potato graphics on the quest eco system. Having a high end VR device on Meta OS isn't going to magically improve potato graphics because devs will need to make a different version. IE, you will just be wasting money on high end meta os devices. PSVR2 is a much better experience than Meta. VR that looks amasing and just works.

People need to realize. This was majorily done for ONE reason. They do not want to get sued in the way that apple just was. They have almost completely monopolized this space. This makes it so they are actively encouraging other companies headsets there for preventing them from getting sued like apple just was

With Apple and also Google entering the space, Meta _can not_ monopolize the space anymore. Meta realizes this and is now opening its ecosystems to form alliances with other tech giants against these two adversaries. Meta is trying to avoid becoming the next Blackberry.

Meta always wanted to be the underlying system to VR. Rather than providing software, they wanted to be the underlying hardware. They learnt from Apple that you want to be in control and not reliant on others. I think also they realised in a brand vs brand showdown, they’d lose to Apple. So this is their move to get ahead of the comp - flood their system with uses - before Apple can fortify the space.

Why do you think they would lose because it's apple??? They both have big names AND. No matter what brand it is, mass not spending $3000+ for something to go on your head. Some of you give apple to much credit for nothing. Give Bill Gates some credit for saving apple from trash pile with $150m Steve borrowed from him. Quest has never been locked down like IOS for which apple for sued for.

This is not about getting sued. This is about growing the industry which they know will benefit them. Arguably the AVP did more for the Quest than the AVP did for itself.

All I'm waiting for is 21K per eye in an AR glasses format that runs realistic graphics indistinguishable from reality. That's not too much to ask.... right? 😂 What's both amazing and creepy about such a piece of tech is that it WILL be a reality at some point, but on the other hand, it WILL be a reality at some point. The government, corporations, political extremists, and hackers are going to wreak havoc, the likes of which we've never seen. There will be so much beauty, yet so much oppression, collusion, corruption, propaganda and brainwashing, and constant advertising. I hope the brain computer interfaces allow for super human cognition so we can jump past the inevitable dark period this tech will bring.

these augments would be almost useless i guess? no one wants to wear the quest 3 casually, passthrough is way too bad. you only wear the quest 3 when you want to play or watch movies and stuff. i tried using it casually, for example while cooking or doing shores and it was more of an annoyance than something useful.

They want to survive Google’s XR OS which is coming soon. There will be more competition in the VR OS space than with pancake OS’es. You also have Vision OS and SteamVR. Hopefully, we will one day have Linux VR as well.

Looks like he went overboard on the “sharpen” and “pop” edit features editing on his phone. A lot of people that try editing and don’t know what they’re doing go overboard with these settings while editing photos/videos, or perhaps it was a premade filter that he thought looked good. 😂
