I love Enhancement Shaman and will always play this spec but... 25% of ALL nerf dmg? Wtf, what a lazy way to nerf. The Enhancement Shaman's biggest problem has been the Elemental Blast, which is really strong, but the rest didn't seem to be that broken to take that.

We are also seeing the same sort of thing for Ele where it gives too much value and it feels way worse for them with the forced cast time and high resource cost. They need to adjust the value of talents first before just throwing out random nerfs and buffs.

Welp was a nice week of being strong for once. I just can’t imagine that this won’t have a huge impact and if it does, wed be going right back being the weakest melee again with lower survivability than all other classes. I mean I agree the damage was a bit overtuned but it was only certain spells. I’m usually the optimistic type but blizz did this for years with enhance now. I hope they see the mistake and adjust the specc properly but I also kinda doubt that they care enough. If we can’t do crazy damage at least give us better survivability. Astral shift CD with talent at 1 minute CD, stun useable, and up the wall totem to 20%. Which will probably never happen but oh well that’s my 2 cents here

In my umble opinion Enhancement need a Nerf for sure. I think 10/15% Damage reduction on all we could have considered it a fair nerf. With 25% less damage on EVERYTHING it's not a nerf but destroying a class ...

After testing the nerf on beta, and knowing how Blizzard has usually treated enhance over the past decade, im pretty sure enhance will go live largely how it is now plus or minus a 2-3% change either way. The spec went from top 5 to bottom 5 on beta instantly. The worst part of that is whilst its bottom 5, its not so bad that I could see Blizzard thinking its unacceptably bad and will therefore give it significant buffs. Blizzard has routinely showed they are completely fine with Enhance being a bottom 5 spec, or below average spec...being that the spec usually spends the majority of its time falling into one of those bottom tier categories. Maybe I could be wrong and DF signals a change in how Blizzard treats certain classes/balancing but I wouldnt be confident about that. I think the most the spec gets is like a small 2% buff just so they can say "see we gave you a buff after the nerf!", and then as per tradition theyll give us small 2-4% buffs periodically over the next 1-2 raid tiers until the spec has finally reached relevancy again...ive seen it happen to this spec all too many times.

I'm still baffled by the huge nerf, they weren't even ahead of anyone, now they're even farther behind, they're only doing like 20k dps now while many other classes are able to go 40k dps and some aoe cases others are doing 100-160k dps while enhance aoe is still weak in the 30-40k range since they're less bursty.

I still cannot believe people who've played this game over the years are still saying "This is still in testing and there's time for them to adjust it" with a straight face. I've been burned by that in the past... all too frequently things that are broken (good or bad) stay broken for entire tiers if not expansions. I have no faith that this change was 1) Not an overreaction and 2) Will be revisited in any meaningful way prior to launch I'm happy to be wrong.... but I ain't holding my breath.

I played shaman since vanilla. After getting shammed down over and over again, I moved over to main warrior in Warlords. There have been so many improvements to the specs and mechanics, but they always tune shaman down to be weaker dps than the other dedicated specs (remember the “hybrid tax” Bs. And it’s still happening.

I was planning on maining enhance for the expansion, not because it was overturned, but because I love the new design. I definitely expected some nerfs, but after I saw this I just decided to switch to something erls. Because I too have a history with blizzard not giving a fuck. I don’t think enhance will get fixed. Fun fact: The implementation of this nerf effected the "enhancement" aura of the spec. Not only were all of our spells impacted by this, but trinkets, and enchants were effected too. :) Could be wrong, I'll double check with some testing on beta, but as far as I'm aware, this is how it works.

As a fellow enhancement main, I approve of this message. We are not dead yet, and I strongly feel that Blizzard will recognize that this nerf was overkill, and revert at least SOME of the % back. 15% nerf is completely fair IMO. 25% is insanity.

Looking at how high of a percentage Ele Blast is doing, they could have just nerfed that single spell and gotten a more reasonable nerf that allows for build diversity. There is no reason a talent option should be doing ~28% of the total damage. Ele is also feeling pigeonholed into taking it at cap if this goes live like it is, and it feels WAY worse for them with the forced cast time and high resource cost. They really should look at managing the strength of talent options before deciding on nerfing or buffing overall damage.

I was keeping up with 290's at 265 with a doom winds build, and far surpassed them with hot hands hailstorm build (they were probably shitty pubs who thought they were hot shit) also you cannot compare any class to windwalker in M+, those bonedust brew + spinning crane kick procs are unbeatable

Across the board nerfs don't mess with integrations and hierarchy in the rotation, which most of the community, and now clearly the devs, think is in a good place. Aura nerfs can EASILY be tuned up and down in the future. Still sucks to see though.

For me, the biggest offender is -25% reduction to all damage. Were Enhancement Shamans 25% or more ahead of other specs in beta raid? I doubt that. Were they overtuned in Mythic+ this much? Could be, but by reducing all the damage while that could bring them in line in Mythic+, Blizzard would also affect Enhancement's performance in raids and PVP. What I think they should do is do focused tuning based on what aspect of game Enhancement is / was overperforming (or several). Too strong in Mythic+? Nert AoE abilities only like Fire Nova by X%. Too strong in raid? Nerf ST abilities only, preferably overtuned MSW spenders. Too big burst in PVP with Elemental Blast or Primordial Wave buffed Lightning Bolt? Nerf exactly these 2 abilities (baseline or via PVP modifiers). Other option is to remove the 10 MSW spending talent. It provides such a huge damage boost that it is very hard to balance in PVP.

It provides such a huge damage boost that it is very hard to balance in PVP." ^This is a good point to bring up as well... the ability to instantly have 10 MSW is just insane and its hard for other talents to compete with that kind of value; so to start with my concern is that ultimately this will limit build diversity when we have these wonderful trees with tons of options. Then the fact that it adds too much burst for PvP is another concern... I would hate for PvP builds to feel like they have to run it. Burst is far more important in PvP and the ability to just push a button and go instead of building up to it will lead to a feast/famine situation for the spec. We would be right back to previous expansions going all the way back to Wrath of being a "meme" spec that blows its load and either gets a kill out of it or you lose the match.

I have just accepted that Blizz will always panic when it comes to shamans and hit us with a bat until we stop moving and then all crisis is averted. What i want is for them to look at our survivability. We can't keep having 1 defensive cooldown, the lowest base health among all melee specs while being mail wearers. Healing isn't a good defense and they have historically been horrible at tuning our healing. We either heal full immediately or we spam heal, go oom and then die. I got sad when i saw the talent in shaman tree go from 6% reduced damage taken to 4% reduced magic damage taken

(Ele main since cata) I tested the dmg of enhancement shaman after nerf, which was the first time i tryed enhance in months. I was surpriced of how much damage they do. Ankomst every spell botton do more damage then if u're in elemental spec. And that's after the nerf! So this over reduction in dmg is just fine, they stille pump.💪 Also! I totally agree on DHs. They're super op and needs more then the slight nerf they got. And also, i can't believe they did not nerf guardian.😅

Rn i do lower DPS than before the prepatch. This nerf is a freaking joke. The big problem comes from the Overflowing maelstrom talent. No reason to dump the whole class. In m+ my dmg fell off for like 30-50% overall. Literally trashed. We expected a nerf but not that hard. There isnt anything justyfying this trash nerf. Not even any commentary on that change like WW had. Meanwhile Feral not nerfed, in M+ they do more dmg than enhance actually. Even in Raid enhance wasnt the best DPS. The big problem i see is when it doesnt get adjusted, the start of DF and leveling will be hardcore because we loose all the borrowed power and alot of stats aswell. Why they diddn just nerf the talent or delete it ? My lighting bolt did with 10mael 190k to 5 targets thanks to that talent. Now with 10 stacks it does nearly as much as before.

Zero chance they were ever ahead in aoe, best they got is a sunderng crit for only like 25-30k every 45 seconds. Usually unsure if i should save it for many chaotic motes (aka padding) or initial motes to get more motes out faster (more raid damage)

One of the biggest problems was how amazing DRE is. As an RNG talent it has the potential to be absolutely broken. I have strung together 36 seconds of ascendance which boosts our damage by insane numbers. With this nerf, we are basically shoehorned into taking this one build for a chance to be competitive. Our entire spec will rely around RNG in the hopes to be near the top and with bad RNG we could be near the bottom. It still feels alright on the beta at 70 but I don't have any idea what other classes are currently doing so its hard to compare for me. They always do this to enhancement though. They do something on beta that makes it really good and then suddenly nerf it to the ground and spend an entire expansion trying to fix it. It happened in BFA. It happened in Shadowlands.

I also don't think for a spec that baseline relies on RNG it is good to add more RNG on top... Elemental Spirits is another example; you get the "right" wolves and it is insane while the wrong ones for your build means a lot less damage. Too much RNG makes it difficult to balance and I would rather have skill determine your output over chance.

I cant see how individual abilities like Lava Lash, or Flame Shock on their own were doing so much damage that they were required to be nerfed as well. Lightning Bolt and Ele Blast were only doing as much as they were cause they removed a -35% damage coefficient to our spenders earlier in the beta. If DRE was the culprit then they could have nerfed the proc chance to offset. I keep hearing how a 25% aura nerf was the best thing that could have happened to us but I feel like it was just lazy. Like they were saying "Well we don't really know how to balance this so just nerf it all." This doesn't make people want to take us to M+ runs. We have no utility to bring to a 5 man group.

Also for something like this they could operate on a PPM system to reduce the randomness which would be welcome especially on a spec that is based around a lot of RNG. When you have so much RNG (even from procs like we saw in previous expansions) then either the stars align and it is insane and broken or it doesn't and feels awful. Layering RNG makes things harder to balance and variation in output has more to do with things outside the player's control than it does skill. There is clearly a balance here that is never taken into account.

I personally don't like how much damage Ele Blast is doing for both Enhance and Elemental... it really pigeonholes the specs into specific builds and makes up far too large of a percentage of their damage. It also feels much worse for Ele because of the cast time, the high resource cost, the fact that it has a CD, and that it practically replaces one of your spenders. Nerfing the output of this ability should have come FIRST! So sure, Enhance was doing crazy damge, but 25% was overkill and if you look at his details it was doing 27.9% of his total damage; this is MORE than the nerf!!!! They could have just nerfed Ele Blast for both specs and THEN made adjustments in damage. I would also like to see some change for Ele to make the spell feel better... maybe removing the resource cost (which makes no sense) or if it is a spender making it instant cast and removing the CD... hell make it replace Earth Shock if that is the route you want to go, and then nerf its output to reasonable levels. Enhancement nerfs were too much, and the Ele buffs are clearly not enough... they are still bottom of the barrel on single target and the Fire focused builds are underperforming for Ele. For Ele we need to see Lava Burst buffed, both to increase single target and to make Fire builds more viable, as well as spells like Earth Shock and Earthquake to make the spenders more impactful. For Enhance it feels really good overall, we just need Ele Blast toned down a bit and hopefully some of this damage nerf reverted in return.

Here's how you fix damage across the board. Stop adding 4 thousand multipliers, and give abilities consistent damage instead. Any talent/gear interaction will just build off of what's already there. You tweak the additions, NOT THE BASELINE ATTACKS. Venruki explaind this better than I can.

it should also be meaningful mechanical buffs/nerfs rather than lazy flat %'s. Like when monk struggled on single target, my idea was to just make tiger palm deal a lot more stacking damage the more it's used on the same target, as long as its benefitting from combo strikes. But instead they're like "okay sun kick and fist of fury do 40% more damage" while also buffing warlocks more who were already on top sometimes the balance team is a complete joke but the initial 9.2 enhancement buffs were amazing, resetting and spreading flame shock with lava lash was HUGE and instantly made fire nova a viable pick and you no longer had to waste a global on the tiny flame shock hit. These are the nature of changes that should be made. I don't mind small 5-10% changes for some spells as micro-adjustments, but then you see freakin venthyr demon hunters do 2mil+ damage with 1 ability click
