What are you going to main bud? Really want to main shaman but I have ptsd from Blizzard always destroying this class. What are your thoughts? I have played ele and atm is the most fun I’ve ever had…. But I’m afraid 😂, I’ve been burned before 😢

Wouldn't you want to test on the beta? testing on prepatch isnt going to be very accurate. not sure if its tuned to lvl 70. Regardless, GREAT KNOCKS!

Class tree and QoL changes: Amazing. Perfect. Exceptional. Ele tree changes: All the same gameplay loops except worse with lower maelstrom generation, WLR IS GONE, LMT still poorly designed, the good prim wave talents are gone. Probably going to be playing echo builds with the tier set which is lame to me but may be fun to some. Enhance actually feel great, because it already felt good it just needed some help in a few areas, which we received. So be very happy there were limited enhance changes. My ideal changes would have been all the class tree changes, the Icefury changes, then LMT rework to pulse flame shocks to up to 6 targets in the area for the duration. If target is already affected by flame shock, deals some small amount of damage. Or even better, no cooldown on flame shock

Ele shaman doesn't have enough instant casts. It only has 1 hard instant cast every 5s. It loses maelstrom too quickly ooc. And lightning bolt cast times just feel too high.

I've always played elemental. But Arcane is just more fun on the beta, by quite allot. Better damage, better playstyle and feels really good to hit buttons. Shaman gonna have to sit it out a bit for this expansion again. Might give enhance a go tho :) Instant tempests are nice.

It does zero damage. Literally no reason for it not to be able to be cast while moving. Would make the spec flow wayy better

The raid buff is good, but i wish it was a caster buff instead of a melee one... so it actually benefited Elemental and other casters

2% mastery buff is still decent for the caster half of the raid.

@@S1D3RAL ok the 2% helps melee and the 20% additional auto attack also helps them. Elemental should of a caster buff, or a universal buff like 5% spell crit damage

@fifthgear2130 yes I understand that. Was just stating the 2% still helps the caster half. Shaman has always historically been a melee buffing class though so even allowing them a button press raid buff increasing mastery is just cherries on top of the windfury

I'm super excited for this and can't wait to play it. I can't wait to make a build around Primal Elementalist, and taking all the different talents that make your elementals enhanced, around the Lightning Rod/Stormbringer playstyle. getting to mix in all my spells, not having to hate Icefury anymore, and doing everything to maximize my Storm Ele window seems like a fun playstyle that can be unique to Shamans

Even with the changes, the spec still doesn’t feel like a modern caster. Playing mage and warlock on the beta and the difference between how well their specs flow compared to Ele is night and day. Ele still feels ancient sadly

I've always felt that it just feels clunky. I mained it through shadowlands and just gave up on it for DF.... Like you said, I've played other casters on beta and they're just miles ahead with regards to flow.

I’m going to disagree. I’ve played them all as well and I think ele flows just as good if not better and lots of utility. Seriously considering it as new main. Wanted to give an alternative opinion here since so many people echo negativity

@@virtualb01 it 100% does not flow as well as mage while having less utility. Ele unless overtuned will continue to see less participation in m+ and raiding as mages

Is it just me or does it seem like this is overwhelmingly a nerf to elemental shaman? Previously, every % of mastery gave about 0.8-0.9% damage. Now it's more like 0.6% damage per percent of mastery. Furthermore, it's not fun to throw marshmallows at the opponent. 35% additional bonus damage is laughable unless they majorly bump the base damage. I want to hurl giant meatballs of death at the opponent, not little spark balls... As for the maelstrom generation nerf across the board, like what was that about? And sure, talents cost less but in a lot of cases, they also give less. I was excited to return to the game to play some meatball lord ele but now, I severely doubt my subscription will be renewed.

The worst part is, mastery overloads were how lightning bolt and chain damage worked well. If you play lightning bolt now, the damage is worse and the maelstrom generation is really low now. All they have to do is fix that and we’ll see more diversified builds flavor the stew. Overall good changes. We need to give feedback right away about the pros and cons so they will still make the changes. They’re clearly changing classes the most right now and then you’ll see dungeon/raid tuning and then final class tuning. We must doom in order to be relevant to blizzard. So start dooming to them 😅
