I honestly think 3 episodes might actually be enough for Alabasta. 3 episodes is like 3 hours of footage, which is more than a feature length film. Any more than that and it'll be dragging in the context of Live Actions. I also cannot imagine a world where a season doesn't end with the iconic scene from the anime/manga. If we're casting Wappol for S2, then there are only 2 possibilities: A) S2 ends with the end of Drum Island with the crew going to Alabasta and then Alabasta Arc is 8 Hours long. and B) S2 Ends with the end of Alabasta. I'm thinking that option B) is the most plausible seeing as Jaya and Skypeia ABSOLUTELY NEED to be their own season and 8 hours of Alabasta is just too much.

saw a few posts, in this kinda line. it was like ep1. logue town, going down reverse mountain scene end. ep 2. laboon/ whiskey peak, ep. 3 was little garden. ep 4. drum island ep 5-9 would be alabasta. with them saying bye to vivi. if they make each episode an hour long- to 1h 20 minutes its do-able. thats like 4 episodes of the anime per live action condensed. i have to rewatch jaya and skypeia. but i think they can add water 7 at the end of season 3. season 4: be water 7, and enies lobby. season 5: thriller bark into saobody ending where everyone gets split. season 6: impel down and marineford. after that almost each season will be a complete saga almost. by time they reach wano would be 12 seasons...

I think they will do Alabasta in season 2. Season 1 covered up till Arlong Park in 8 episodes. That is 95 manga chapters so about 12 chapters per episode. if they keep up that pace with 8 episodes they will end right in the middle of Alabasta. Since season 1 was a success i think they could do 10 episodes for season 2. That would fit the whole saga perfectly. The listing on the film reg boards is correct because the season 3 shooting will need a different location and probably need to be filmed during the fall/winter to keep heat down in a dessert setting for alabasta in season 3

Don't forget that OP is about the journey and not the end goal, there's a lot happening on Whiskey Peak, Little Garden and Drum Kingdom Alone. Also Ended on Wapol isn't that bad. Drum Kingdom is the 1st Country the crew met and they lirerally got another new companion there. People just upset cause Wapol isn't a strong villain like Arlong. I'm honestly convinced that if they play their cards right, Alabasta can be done pretty well in 4 episodes. They're hour-long episodes, you have movies which tell a whole story in 2 hours, so I don't see why they can't do Alabasta in 4. The anime elongated some of the parts and the episodes are way shorter than in OPLA, making it seem like Alabasta is super-duper long, but imho it can be adapted in half the season, especially since the primary source is the manga, not the anime. Bonus if they have Oda helping with trimming up the excess that isn't as useful for plot/character reasons and 4 episodes are more than enough. If we have 8 episodes, you can divide the story roughtly into: 1-2 Loguetown, entering the Grandline and Laboon, Whisky Peak 3 - Little Garden 4 - Drum Island 5-8 Alabasta Imho 8 episodes to cover Loguetown - Drum Island are way too much, so Alabasta must be included. Now, I personally would not split up Alabasta between two seasons, but that could be a route I guess. Honestly tho, story-wise it wouldn't be advisable.

1 episode from Drum Island would be CRIMINAL. Even season 1 that was notoriously rushed had ~2 eps for every straw hat. I can't see how cutting it down to 1 would make sense (not to mention how visually distinct it is, so it makes sense from a production pov to get as much out of it as possible). Films can tell stories in shorter times because they have no endgame, it's a bitesized story and that's it. Cutting all the world building and all the personality from the locations would just make it impossible to get invested in the crew's stories imo.

no big names only means one thing, more budget for effects which, I cannot stress enough to say is much needed given the upcoming characters. I loved season 1 but I believe there's a lot of room for improvement. I hope the people in charge take a look at how Avatar the last airbender was done, like how the world they moved in was actually real. During season 1, sometimes it felt like they were just in a studio or in a small area shooting the scene.

I highly doubt it'll be dicey for Alabasta. Alabasta will be in season 2. Like what makes you think it won't be? Logue Town can be 1 episode, Reverse Mountain + Whiskey Peak can be in 1 episode, Little Garden 1 episode, Drum Island 2 episodes and Alabasta 3 episodes. These are 40+ minutes. So what exactly makes you think it won't?? That's 120+ minutes, lol. That's like saying you can't fit in Water 7 & Enies Lobby in 1 season. Also, it's a horrible to have Drum Island as the season ender. Also it doesn't make sense for Coby and Garp to be the B plot when they can make it Smoker. Garp in season 1 also makes it sound like he's not going to be chasing Luffy.

I dont think that they would finish alabasta in s2 They might start it. But when you go through the manga and estimate how far they would get based on the speed of adaptation/quantity of chapters that were adapted in s1, it becomes clear that s2 might barely make it to meeting ace. If that. And i dont want them to try fit in alabasta because logue town will be at least one episode, then you have the entrance into the grand line plus crocus. Thats probably onto 2 episodes now. Then whiskey peak and the journey to little garden. Thats 3 episodes. Little garden brings it to at least 4. Then the introduction of wapol and part of drum island is 5. Finishing drum island will be at least 2 episodes in length so it will leave episodes 7 and 8 to deal with the start of alabasta. But i think that we would probably be onto episode 8 by the time we even see alabasta because i doubt that they will rush little garden in one episode. So i think season 2 will end with the brief meeting with ace and the meeting of the remaining baroque works members in chapter 161. Thus making season 2 adapt from half way through chapter 96 to the end of 161. Edit: i would be shocked if anyone actually reads this essay.

Smoker's actor needs to be relatively young if they are futureproofing the show. Smoker is still relevant 600 episodes later. That might be 10-15 years from now. They can use makeup/effects to make him look older; they can't bring him back from the dead.

Alabasta is 38 episodes(wiki). That includes filler. 38/8=4.75. not including the anime intro and recap how long is an anime episode? 15 mins?When people say alabasta for season 3, they expect basically a one to one recreation of the anime in terms of length. That is INSANE. Not to mention it kills the pace of season 2 if you build Crocodile and baroque works and you end the season fighting wapol who is no one in the greater story of alabasta's ark. On top of that you push the story further back. All this to say Alabasta is season 2.

Why Netflix is compressing so much arc together ... I bet it will be sure some rush ( lot of details / characters / events will be cut off and some outrageously e.g in season1 the first meeting of luffy and Nami has been rubbish compare to the anime or the fact that luffy and his grandfather didn't meet to fight in the Arlong arc or the way luffy win against buggy wasn't the same as in the anime ) ... thus missing some true fun of one piece universe ( like they totally missed Django the hypnotiser in season1 and his interaction with luffy when Django hypnotized the crew to make them stronger and luffy as clumsy as he is , he got hypnotized too beat the blue of them and even destroyed the ship before Django in panic mode put him in sleep mode by hypnosis... ) that was so funny ...
