I think you'll enjoy The Bat Whispers greatly. It's a particular favorite of mine. There's no movie quite like it, even though it is basically a compendium of haunted house tropes, the atmosphere is off the chain.

Thanks! I recently recorded a Q&A based off of member questions that’s unrelated to 40K subs, but I’ll be sharing that with everyone over the upcoming long Labor Day weekend.

The Mariachi trilogy is so fun. I put Door-to-Door Maniac on my wish list. Tempted by the Range Buster movies too, although I've never seen them.

I love stuff like the Dick Tracy movies getting Blu-ray box sets. There's a whole bunch of stuff that I've only seen on KZbin that is now available physically that I would like to pick up. It's nice to have them in a better format

Heath, according to IMDB, the person in the gorilla suit in the film Hillbillies In A Haunted House was played by George Barrows.

I've been waiting for this "Bat Whispers"! And that packaging is absolutely tops! The VCI and Film Masters releases really speak to me as well...I'm ready to double-dip on those Dick Tracy - an easy decision.

I haven't watched Collateral even though I have the DVD and 4K version. However, I fondly remember watching Desperado at the movie theater and then again on either VHS or DVD at the time. It was and still is an enjoyable film even today. Antonio Banderas was in a lot of movies prior to Desperado, but Desperado was the film that introduced me to Antonio Banderas. It's a great movie for sure. The mid to late 1990's was the time period when you had action stars such as, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, and other actors to go along with Antonio Banderas. Those were fun times. Otherwise, thanks, Heath! As always, I appreciate the hard work, dedication, and passion! Keep it up! God bless and stay safe!

I'm probably most interested in the new release of DOOR-TO-DOOR MANIAC (aka FIVE MINUTES TO LIVE) I recently rewatched it on DVD. Cash is amazing in it, plus you get a spooky Merle Travis, Ronny Howard in his golden period, and the amazing Vic Tayback! Cash starred in at least three theatrical pictures: DOOR-TO-DOOR-MANIAC, THE ROAD TO NASHVILLE, and A GUNFIGHT (with Kirk Douglas. Financed by the Jicarella Apache Nation.). He also narrated films such THE GOSPEL ROAD (with June Carter Cash as Mary Magdalene! When is this coming out on 4K???)

I was thinking of DOOR TO DOOR MANIAC and GUNFIGHT as Cash's two starring theatrical roles. He's in more, but not as an actor or a star. It's funny, though, I don't necessarily think he was a great actor, but he had an authentic quality that people seemed to either not recognize or didn't care about. Compared to other singers at the time like Roy Orbison in THE FASTEST GUITAR ALIVE, he had something others didn't. Shame his peak 50s and 60s period didn't see more acting roles.

You'll have bragging rights later when empty-theater movies eventually become classics and you were one of the few who were there at the beginning. This happened to me many times through the years, movies that became classics that nobody went to see at the time except me and some others who were paying close attention to Siskel and Ebert and other critics.

Indeed, we can say we were there. We saw mighty giants while others stayed home and complained that nothing good exists anymore.

Well since you asked, some of my more recent favorite releases/first time watches have included It Ends With Us, Oddity, Pecker (1998), Black Moon (1975), Absolute Power (1997), Summer Lovers (1982), A Sunday In The Country (1984), Body Chemistry 2 (1992), Walking The Edge (1985) and Can't Hardly Wait (1998). And I've also been really enjoying an early 2000's Nickelodeon cartoon called As Told By Ginger

I have to ask, are people getting "upset" with you? or are they responding to the sometimes inexact nature of your analysis? Normally I would 't bring this up because not everyone on KZbin is looking to develop as a media critic, but I know you have mentioned wanting to do more commentaries, when you say "everything in the kitchen sink" you have a very clear idea of what you mean by that statement, but the audience doesn't know exactly what that phrase means to you or how you are specifically relating it to the subject and they are left to "interpret. Much of the push back you are receiving may therefore be misunderstanding based on their "read" of your statement.
@RobotPorter
@RobotPorter 21 күн бұрын
Yes, this is likely true. Misinterpretations are often the cause of disagreements. Especially when both parties don't have a common frame of reference.
@CerealAtMidnight
@CerealAtMidnight 21 күн бұрын
I’m referring to the outright anger in response to my opinions by a small subset of the audience. The sort of “how dare you” response that takes a this all far too seriously and acts as if disagreement is treasonous. Opinions are volatile things in today’s echo chambers and silos. There comes a point when a KZbin creator realizes that a portion of their audience despises them. It’s not about colloquialisms or off-the-cuff statements about the kitchen sink approach to filmmaking (which is apparently not self-explanatory?), it’s about a deep anger at differing opinions, specifically when I admit I’m not a big fan of something, like the Clash of the Titans remake, or that I think movie fans are missing great films in theaters when they say nothing good is being made today. Every opinion rubs someone the wrong way, but it’s unavoidable. Try to play it safe and that itself becomes offensive. Also, these videos are a very different thing than an audio commentary. Comparing the two, or suggesting that a casual conversation is even in the same ballpark as a commentary that’s been researched for weeks or even months and carefully planned and scripted…well, they’re two different beasts entirely.

I seen the original Clash of the Titans and the later one in 3D in the theater I have lots of nostalgia for the original. the remake 3D was so bad it gave me a headache so I definitely did not enjoy the movie and will never watch it again.

I like your videos, watch regularly. But... please consider changing the way you mic the videos. The mic pics up all the stray noise. The crinkle-crinkle-crinkle of shrink wrap being ripped off, the popping of the box opening, the rustling and crinkling of the cover/booklet, sometimes even you swallowing. I wouldn't say anything to a KZbinr who was a just a guy in his basement trying to put out some videos, but you do commentaries and DVDs/Blu-rays, a professional. Maybe just me, I am really irritated by all that. But I know some people love it, take my opinion as you will.

Personally I like it. It acts as a kind of soothing unintentional ASMR. Especially the way it picks up his swallowing.
